Chapter 8|| Welcome to Freyor

[A long winding dirt road, a small family headed to an out of the way city on an old rigid cart.A leaf dancing gently in the air, up and down back and forth. As it seemed to follow this small family, but not by its own will nor the forces of the wind. If you were to ask how or why there would be many who couldn't say for sure, but the mother and father watching this on the cart even though they didn't exactly know how it worked, but they did know from whom it came from. They simply looked down at the infant in the mothers arms and they both could tell from his small glowing eyes that he was the cause. Normally people might be frightened by a baby with glowing eyes, but these people weren't. For what type of parents would they be if they were. They were however worried, not for themselves, but worried for their sons future and the difficulties he may face in a world where his eyes would have him persecuted. But why, why would people persecute an innocent child.]

Sen:(After the other day iv'e gotten a better feel of my power. So now i can use it some what, and so i begin to train myself. Levitating this small leaf up and down back and forth, using the smallest amount of mana i can ,every day i do this. At first i could only use my ability to pull the leaf towards me in the back of the cart, but after only a few days i can now constantly levitate it for a good 30 seconds before i need to recover. I also found a way to regenerate my mana, it seems that my eyes really do absorb mana . When i look up towards the sun after a few seconds my mana quickly regenerates, and since iv'e gotten used to the feeling of it even after iv'e exhausted myself i don't fall asleep right after. It seems my body is growing stronger each day, allowing me to not fall asleep when i near exhaustion. After the first and second attack i realized i was over looking something, some small variable, and it just clicked . After realizing i can absorb mana directly from the stars. Every day i look up at the sun and practice, but at night when all the stars come out and i look up at them, i can feel my power instantly. Causing my spirit to feel like its on fire, but not as to burn me, its rather very warm a comfortable flame that is my own, and at night i can train nearly 5 times longer than during the day. As to why, i assume it's because of the how many stars i can see at night versus during the day, and as to why iv'e been training every day, well it seems because of my eyes people want to destroy me. As to why, i have no clue, as i search my knowledge i find that i know nothing about this subject. How strange, and so i continue up down back and forth for up to 30 seconds before i need a small break, and as i practice i feel the cart come to a stop. I look up at my father curiously wondering as to why and so does my mother)

Tara: Kai why did you stop ?

[Kai pulls out the map.]

kai: Honey were near Freyor city. According to the map after we cross over this hill Freyor is only half a mile away, so we need to bind sens eyes now before we get to close.

[Tara now understanding why, reaches in the back of the cart opening one of the large chest, and after a few second of searching, pulls out a small white cloth and then shuts the chest. She then slowly and gently wraps it around sens eyes tying a small not at the back.]

Sen:(As my mom ties the cloth around me, not being able to see, the leaf falls to the ground. (It seems my eyes must be open to use my ability, how unfortunate, a weakness in my ability has already appeared. As i ponder why after a while i cant seem to reach a satisfying answer, so i give up, being bored i think to myself .(Should i look into that abyss again) But i immediately shake the thought, the pain from peering into it, feels like a thousand needles poking and shredding my brain. Its really quite unbearable. So instead i focus on my parents conversation.)

tara: Do you think anyone will be suspicious.

kai: As long as we cover him up and don't stand out too much, i think will be okay.

tara: But what if someone does notice ,and ask what should we say?

kai: If anyone ask we'll just tell them he sensitive to light .

tara: Oh like the night elf's.

kai: The night elf's. What do you mean?

tara: What don't you know. Are you telling me the great adventurer kai doesn't know about night elf's. Haven't you traveled all over 2 of the 5 biggest continents Arbuoroar and Listian.

[Kai now rubbing the back of his head and with a shy chuckle he said.]

Kai:hehe i did, its just that i was a bit of a drunk back then, i'm afraid i don't remember a lot of those days.

tara: You mean to tell me you don't even know if you've meant a night elf or not.

kai:he he afraid so.

Sen:( what an amateur)

[Tara wore an astonished expression. (how could he travel to so many places see so many things and not remember if hes met a night elf or not. Did, did i marry an idiot?)]

kai: So any way, what about night elf's.

[Tara now feeling superior. Knowing something her world traveled husband doesn't, she looks up and away with a grin,and teasingly.]

tara:hoho should i tell you i wonder?

[Kai seeing his wife's smirk gets a bit irritated.]

kai: Well excuse me miss princes ,we cant all have a nobles education.

[Tara a little taken aback by this, immediately becomes gloomy and in a downtrodden voice she says.]

tara: Kai i was just teasing you, why bring that up, and as for the night elf's they're sensitive to sunlight that's it.

[Kai hearing his sadden wife once again realizing hes made a mistake. He quickly tries to back peddle out of it.]

kai:i uh, no, i just ...

[Stumbling over his words he quickly becomes panicked.]

kai: I'm sorry, i was just a little irritated, i didn't mean t.........

tara:haha ha kai im just joking don't get your panties in a bunch.

[Kai now infuriated at being made a fool .]

kai: you ,you...

[Tara turns and quickly kisses him on the cheek causing all his anger to simply vanish, and as it does he lightly sighs. After a bit of silence.]

kai: You know ,one kiss isn't quite enough to make me feel better

[Seeing her husband act like a kid she decides to tease him a little more.]

tara: Oh another kiss perhaps.

kai: Can you give a kiss or not?

[tTra sits there and ponders for a sec .]

tara: Sure.

[Kai turns and leans in to receive the kiss, and to his surprise tara leans down and kisses sen on his cheek.]

kai: What about mine.

tara:teehee you didn't ask for me to give you a kiss, you only asked if i could give a kiss and i did. To my favorite man in the world.

[Kai grumbles silently knowing hes lost this battle, and as he does, him and tara come upon a large stone wall nearly 30 feet high stretching all around the city with several men standing on top looking out.Right at they reach the gate they hear a huge booming voice.]

guard at the gate:Halt state your business!

[As kai stops, the two look in front of them, to see a large well built man wearing a full set of leather armor with a spear at his side.]

tara: Were here to buy a few goods from you markets and then leave.

Guard at the gate:Is that it.

tara:Yes.

guard at the gate:Okay, but first we need to check your cart to make sure your not smuggling anything in.

kai:We would nev....

guard at the gate:It doesn't matter were searching it anyway, is there a problem.

[Several guards on the wall prepared their bows, and aimed at the family. Kai immediately got in front of his wife and with cold eyes and an intimidating tone.]

kai: Search, go ahead ,but don't you dare point a weapon at my wife and child.

[One of the guards noticing this quietly said.]

Guard#2: Warrior of the 5th rank.

[Even though he said it quietly each of the guards heard him, they all quickly gulped as a bit of cold sweat formed on each of they're brows. The first guard hearing it as well, ushered his men to lower their weapons, as he did he climbed aboard the cart and quickly searched. After coming up empty he heavily hopped down and signaled kai to proceed in.]

guard at the gate:They're clean, you may enter.

[Kai still exuding that intimidating air, with a small wrist movement gave the horse a slight whip. But just as they were about to enter.]

guard at the gate: Wait a moment .

[Kai was getting more and more impatient, and his intimidation grew stronger and stronger, but the guard not being fazed by it at all.]

guard:Why is your child's face covered like that.

[Kai about to yell none of your concern at the top of his lungs, but was quickly interrupted.]

tara: Hes extremely sensitive to light. If i don't cover his eyes then the tiniest bit of sun could blind him.

guard at the gate:Then why are you traveling, should't you be home taking care of it.

[Kai not knowing what to say.]

tara:To seek help, we've heard of a great light mage of the 10th rank. Were on our way to beg her to heal our son.

[The guards hearing that quickly started chatting with buzz among'st themselves.]

guard#2:Did you hear that, she said there going to see a mage of the 10th rank, the 10th rank.

guard#3:But she said a light mage of the 10th rank. There is no light mage of the 10th rank in Arbuoroarm unless they're travelling to the holy continent.

guard#2: Listian, they must be going to the continent of Listian, thats where her holiness resides ,Atheena sunbrave

guard#3:You fool you shouldn't say her name, it sounds dirty coming from your mouth.

guard#2:What was that. I dare you to say it again.

guard#3:You heard me ,don't foul her holiness's name with your putrid voice.

[Soon an argument ensues .]

Guard: Oy you fools shut up!!

tara: May we go now please.

guard at the gate:Yes yes, now hurry, your in the way don't block the path for other people, you slow pokes.

[Kai listening to this, one of his eyes began to twitch, and he could feel that itch in the back of his head. Tara noticing her husbands expression put her hand ever so gently on his thigh, leaned in close to his ear, and with a soothing voice like an angel.]

tara:Kai its okay, were here, were safe ,relax.

[Hearing his wife's honey like voice, the itching in the back of his mind soon settled down, and with a low sigh of relief they entered the city of Freyor. After entering they saw many buildings and many shops, smiling faces where all over the place. People shouting trying to attract customers while some were performing on the side of the road doing flips and balancing on there hands .As they passed restaurants, the smell of delicious food wafted in the air tickling there senses, but for now they had to get to the mage guild . Because there they could have sens potential tested. As they made they're way through the crowded areas, they soon arrived in front of the mage's guild, a huge building made of all white stone nearly 100 feet high, with long strewn out steps leading up to giant doors 15 feet tall ,and slightly above the doors of the mage's guild. There was a sign that simply read, justice for those that deserve it and death to those that don't ,as they tied there horse out front they worried it may be stolen ,but at the base of the steps there were a few guards so they're worry soon subsided. Climbing the long steps they shortly reached the top, and walked right in. As they looked around ,they noticed they were in a large empty room and at the end of the room there was a small desk with a small dwarf sitting behind it .]

Dwarf: Welcome to the Mage's Guild how may i help you.

[2 blurs speeding through the forest at break neck speed passed over a hill and saw a small city they then disappeared.]

Guard at the gate: HALT!!!!! STATE YOUR BUSINESS!!!!

[Hearing the shout the few guards on the wall jumped in shock. They then all looked over at the guard at the gate but saw nothing. With confused expressions, one was about to speak up when all of a sudden 2 blurs instantly appeared in front of the gate, and behind them you could see a huge trail of dust that's been kicked up. After a second the blurs appearance's were soon recognized, clad in black armor, a purple bird over the heart, and a silver star above the birds head. One man and one woman, they were region knights, one then quickly pulled out 2 pieces of parchment.]

Region Knight: Have you seen these 2.
