Chapter 9

After waking on Wednesday morning Michael spent several hours working on Jenkins code. As a simulated intelligence Michael, could add interactions, orders and responses that kind of thing. Usually he just added takeaway order designations. Today though he was hoping to have Jenkins connect to his mobile phone while was in the game. This way Jenkins could inform him if there is someone on the intercom. If he receives emails. He could order food while in the game. Furthermore, Jenkins would also be able to inform him if the fire or any other alarms go off. He would hate to die because he was immersed in the game while the building burnt down around him. This all came about when Jupiter Enterprises released some images of the capsules with some information. An example of which is that the Jupiter phone and tablet platforms can connect to the capsule.

To be fair Michael was just killing time. He was super excited about the capsules imminent arrival that he was just trying to keep himself busy. Fortunately, he wasn’t particularly accomplished at coding so the coding that would take some of his nerdy friend’s half an hour or so, took Michael 3-4 hours with lots of trial an error. Michael preferred it this way. Although he had initially had a couple of clever fellows do the coding for him. He had soon realized that it was more fulfilling to do it himself. (It wasn’t particularly difficult. The SI came with instructions for easy use.) Only when the coding became too complex did he have trouble and occasionally he was forced to call in a friend.

When he was done, he grilled himself some sausages and had a simple sausage roll. He was curious to see whether the coding worked. Usually it would be simple to test but for this he would have to wait until the capsule arrived. Perhaps he would be forced to arrange a fire alarm test with the apartment block manager. Putting that to the back of his mind he drummed his fingers on the plate. He had received an email informing him that his capsule was on its way. He relaxed in his chair after informing Jenkins to shuffle his music playlist. It played quietly in the background.

The intercom beeped. Jenkins spoke moments later informing him of said beep.

“Mister Estrisden”, said the man at the front desk. “There is a delivery here from Jupiter Enterprises here for you.” (deskman was starting to sound excited he must have realized what the box was.) “Shall I send them up?”

Michael hopped out of the chair and hurried to the intercom. Composed himself. “Yes, send them up.”
