《Ley World-The Game》Chapter 39

A few hours had gone by, with long, drawn out answers being given to hundreds of repetitive, drawn out questions. Mr. Goldfield had left after two or so hours, leaving the other programmers, scientists, and engineers to answer everything.

Mr. Gorden just sat in his chair, looking around and smiling. HE should be. He was on the path to becoming one of the richest and most influential person on the planet. Ley World sales had already raked up an astonishing 750 billion USD, most of which was given back due to various bank loans, paying back investors, and putting enough money aside to pay the entire company's budget for a year.

He was already well-off before he started Gorden Co, as the son of a lawyer and doctor pair. He had enough money that after graduating from College he was able to create a small investing firm in which he slowly gained more money, amounting to close to a billion USD.

Afterwards, he sold the company, starting Gorden Co at the age of 35. Due to his reputation in the investing field, he quickly got hundreds of people to invest money into his idea, which at the time still didn't have a name. Slowly he had found world-renowned scientists and engineers working for him, and soon fully immersive VR became real.

It had been out for a few months at specially designed Drop-Homes, where people would pay a certain fee per hour to do something in the VR capsule. Back then, the time compression was only 2-1, but it still allowed people to do things faster than normal. Some people went there to study, others to practice their crafts and skills in simulations.

With the money from that, and investors seeing that his ideas were paying off, he received even more money, allowing for the full team to work on Ley World. He had over 2,000 programmers working on the AI mainframe alone, wanting to make a life-like game. The AI wasn't fully sentient, but it was as close as possible.

It had everything it needed except for the concept of self. It was blocked out in the foundations of its code that it would never know what 'self' was. No matter how life-like it was, it would never be able to know what it was, study itself, or thinking about itself. It just simply did it's job.

With everything coming along, they allowed the AI to create the world, from the beginnings of time to where it currently was. The of course edited it afterwards, very drastically, but at least they wouldn't have to make a world from scratch. Soon, they finished, and with everything done, the beta began.

It went exactly as planned, except for one small hitch with a certain someone, but that had all been fixed. He hadn't cared much about it, and as one of the Top-Players and one of the players with the most potential, they were certain that it wouldn't matter.

With the release, millions of people ran to the stores, buying everything they could. Some people bought the capsule with the game, some bought the capsule with simulations to help practice their crafts with time compression. Image one of the best carpenters in the world, aged 50. HE would have around 10-20 years before he retired, but with the time compression he could stretch that out to another 40-80 years of practice in carpentry.

Many private schools were also looking for capsules to be implemented in them to allow faster teaching to occur. The more they could cram in, the smarter people would be when older.

For now, most of the capsules went to the game, as it had the highest price and highest profit for the company. One he had a much stabler foundation for the company, he would expand, but that would be later.

For now he just had to be careful with a full powerhouses. A few of the multi-trillion dollar families were trying to team up on him, not wanting to allow another corporation into the ground. The Belliars, the most influential family in the world with a net worth of 7 trillion USD.

They sprang up from nowhere, taking over hundreds of the largest and most powerful corporations into themselves. All of the big corporations from the early 21st century had become a branch of them. The other trillion dollar families were all CEO's and owners of large companies that were very friendly with the Belliars.

They had most of the control over everything that took place, and as such didn't want to allow, anyone else to join their little group that they controlled. Too bad for them, their 'disgrace of a son' which half of the world didn't know of, was quite the avid player of Ley World.
