《NPC I want experience》Chapter 12 Stealing Titles

A night of fleeing hounds showed me something I wanted longer legs. Only the fact I had a lot stamina and plenty of water mixed with stamina potion kept me going.
Shelly laughed “Does a strong boy like you want a piggyback ride from a little girl like me” I nodded “Absolutely twelve year old me would love one.” Shelly shut up as she had a fairly heavy looking bag of holding on her back. As a decent bag of holding only reduced weight by about eighty percent she must be feeling the strain.
Thorn laughed “Lets go kill some folks” Shelly looked up “Who said anything about killing?” Thorn smirked “We need horses and can not buy them. There should be a ambush at the local river crossing we can cut them down there.”
I picked up my weary body and we began to run again. When
we reached the river crossing Thorn pulled a sling out of her bag. Thorn slipped into the river and I pulled out my goblin staff. Shelly pulled out her bow but i tapped my staff. Shelly nodded and called out “Anybody out there better come out right now.”
There was no answer so I fired a couple of fire balls into the forest near the river crossing. A figure leaped up and Shelly hit his leg with a arrow. Shelly shouted “there are more fire balls coming if you do not come out.” I moved my location and fired another couple of fire balls
Three men sheepishly came out of the bushes. Shelly stood keeping her bow aimed at the men. She roared “Move toward the crossing move.” the men moved toward the crossing and Shelly lowered her bow and crossed the river quickly.
Shelly kicked one of the men in the balls and pulled out a axe she spoke to one of the other men. Then she kicked each of the men in the balls and called out “Lets go pumpkin time is wasting.” I looked at the men all bent in pain and decided to be nicer to Shelly from now on.
I ran into the river crossing and pulled myself dripping wet out of the crossing. Thorn appeared a few seconds later with the horses. She must have been close enough to hear Shelly taking to one of the men.”If you left anything out next time I cut it off not kick you”
Thorn gave me the reins of a horse. We gave the horses some water mixed with stamina potion. We also rubbed the horses down and set off. We pushed the horses hard for the first half a hour. Then Shelly took a short cut threw a small town. Shelly pulled the horse up to a young woman selling goods from a small peddlers cart. “Where is White the Peddlers place”

I saw the peddler eyes suddenly become hostile “Down there on the left its the house with the green door.” Shelly nodded “Stay here buy lots of food.” Shelly tossed a large coin purse to the peddler and I bought a couple of days worth of pies. Thorn bought
a lot more and i stopped her from buying more “Four days is the limit before the pies go off.”
A glowing red Shelly approached. I blinked as i checked her status.
Name Shellylevel 38 Class yeoman archer mercenaryStatus wanted murderer
Shelly was ginning like someone who had just found a pot of gold.
Shelly whipped her horse and i did the same. We moved out of the village at speed. A half a hour later we were in a Forrest. Shelly pulled us onto a side path and we set up camp away from the road.
Shelly tossed me a ring
NameRing of deathDurability???Gives the user the ability to adsorb mana ability from target.
Shelly then pulled out a bag of holding Shelly looked grim as she explained herself “I asked that man at the river crossing some questions. That little worm Kevin was selling the peddler back there troll skill books. They come when you finish the troll dungeon. His father apparently takes a cut.”
I nodded while not technically illegal to sell Troll skill books they generally had restrictions on them. Still i was not happy with how happy Shelly was. She had just killed someone. Shelly was positively gleeful.
Shelly looked at me if knowing what i was thinking. “I have two Mercenary sub classes Cold blooded killer and Assassin. On a separate note you might be able to gain a skill or two from the troll skill books you have the shaman sub class after all. But for now lets wait until the local guard makes his rounds and make a break for it.”
We waited as a guard walked past us. I looked at him in surprise “Why does he not have a horse?” Shelly looked at me whispered “Why does he need a horse he has a sixty mile route to travel each day. If he vanishes then the lords know something is up. And launches a search.”
We got onto our horses and spent half the rest of the day moving slowly forward. We set up camp during the day and that night we began our journey in earnest. Shelly lead us down side roads and threw forests. Finally Shelly released the horses and we spend the rest of the night walking in near pitch black conditions threw a forest.
The next day we waited until Shelly stopped glowing red and started to walk again. The day before we reached the city of Liverlake Shelly pulled out a map and nodded. “We arrive at Liverlake today we take separate gates in and meet up at the Rusty Hook in three days. Wrath you will have no problem getting accommodation. You can apply to a mages school. Thorn your going to have some problems. Try the water gate and ask the guards to show you to the rat killers guild. Again this is only temporary. We can set a separate meeting spot the old spirit well at the full moon in case we do not meet up in three days.”

Shelly tossed us both rough maps of where to go and then pulled out a couple of skill books which she gave to Thorn. Thorn read them and they vanished. I got three books
TitleMan slayerEffect 1 10 percent extra damage to all humansEffect 2 + 5 percent chance of a critical hit.
TitleHigh troll ShamanEffect 1 ????????Effect 2 ??????
TitleMurder of the innocent Effect 1 effect makes it easier to find young childrenEffect 2 ??????
I starred in horror at the last title. “No way am i taking the title murderer of the innocent ever ”
Shelly laughed “Yeah now you know why i gutted that peddler. Ok adsorb the other two and lets go”
I read the man slayer book and a pop up appeared
TitleMan slayerEffect 1 10 percent extra damage to all humansEffect 2 + 5 percent chance of a critical hit.
Combines with
TitleMonster SlayerEffect 1 15 percent damage to all monstersEffect 2 + 7 percent chance of a critical hit.
New title
TitleSlayerEffect 1 15 percent damage magic or physicalEffect 2 + 8 percent chance of a critical hit.
I sighed checking my status. “Ok my slayer title changing is great but there were a couple of negative effects as well. That troll Shaman title is not showing up but i am now 95 percent human and i have magic body enhance instead of body enhance. This is insane i am going to have to keep a track of what goes where. My hit points went up”
Shelly nodded “Troll have a lot of stamina and health. You must have got a multiplier enhancement increase. You should really know what that is ask someone lets go.” I starred hard at Shelly “Gold you have most of mine and i want that troll necklace from earlier.” Shelly tossed me and Thorn a purse each and we set off. My purse was a lot larger that Thorns. I looked in and there were gold coins in my purse. I put my purse into my bag of holding and set off for the city.
I spent four hours slogging my way threw dirt tracks until i was at the small gate i was told to get to. The guard gave me a hostile stare and i decided to preempt any confusion.
I starred at the guard “My da said to find a mages guide someone to help with my next class.” the guard looked a lot less hostile and asked “What class are you hoping for.” “Da said i had a mage sub class and to find the requirement the cheat sheet for mages. My uncle will be hear in a day or so. Da said to find the boys youth place to stay the order of divine light place or a sit up. ”
The guard nodded “Go for the Dormitories there down the road get there now as you do not what to have to stay in a sit up. A sit up is where ts just a roof over your head. You stay with thirty or forty others in a tiny room. Its called a sit up because you have to sleep sitting up because there is not enough room to lie down. Its no place for a youngster or anybody for that matter. Just go down the road and ask at the market for directions”
I walked down to the market and found a smith. He was creating nails. I took a look at the run down stable next to his shop and walked over. The smith was a massive man with tattoos all over. I nodded to him and he gave me a concerned look. He spoke voice was horse “No apprentices needed hear. I have as many as i need. ”
I pointed to the horse stalls “I need to rent a horse stall for a week. A copper coin?” The smith nodded “Yes if your sleeping there I will throw in the loan of a blanket. ” I shook my head i have a blanket. I gave the smith a coin he gave me seven wooden markers. The smith pointed to one of the better stalls. “That one there one week.”
I would have liked to have put my equipment in the stall but did not dare. I took around the town and pretended to be busy so the smith i was renting the horse shed from.
Three days later I meet up with Shelly and thorn is a small smelly place that looked like they simply tossed buckets of water over the place at the end of every day to clean the place out.
Shelly was in better looking armour and seemed quite happy. She grinned “Good news i found a boyfriend your coming to stay with us until we find out if Elizabeth gave out our names. Given that she might want us dead but not captured I doubt anyone knows our names”
