《The Adventures of a Skyrim Modder in Another World》Chapter 4: Adventurers Guild

(Mika's POV)
We got to the city. It has high walls, arund 10 meters. there's a long line in front of the gates, but we go straight to the guard post besides the gate. Advantages of a noble, i guess. Lucia asks me to wait a bit outside and walks inside the guard post with two other knights. While waiting, i observe the guards after taking Shadowmere. They are dressed in simple armor, with shields on their arms, sword on the waist and spear in hands.
The merchants have their carts investigated before being allowed to pass. I can see a lot of people with armors going in and out all the time. They must be the adventurers, since a lot of them are using simple equipements and are walking on groups with balanced equipement, like an archer, an mage and a warrior, like a normal party.
Then, I notice Lucia walking in my direction with a paper in hands.
(Lucia): "Mister Mika, take this paper. It will allwo your stay on teh city for 5 days. After that period, you will have to pay 5 copper coins to extend the period for more 5 days. If you late your payment, the amout of money will raise by one copper coin per day. Also, take this."
She then gives me a small medal. There's a engraving of two crossed swords behind a shield.
(Lucia): "This is the symbol of my knight order. If you ever go to the capital, show this on the knight order's headquarters. They will help you, if you need. Also, don't forget to mention my name!"
she says. I chuckle a bit.
(Mika): "Don't worry. Oh, one lat questiong, Miss Lucia, what do youthink about elves?"
(Lucia): "Well, nithing much. They make excellent mages, i think?"
She says, with doubt in her face. I let out a short laught and raise my hood, so that se can take a look at my face and ears without showing it to the people around. She looks at me shocked for a moment.

(Mika): "I'm happy that you showed such gentleness. Well then, if you excuse me, i will cahnge some of my money and will make my way to the adventurers guild."
Then i walk away to the direction of the guar house to change my money. After i exchanged my money for five gold coins and a hundred silver coins, i walked inside the city. I asked directions to the one that i supposed that are adventurers. They indicate me where the adventurers guild is. After searching for a bit, i found the place. it's a two story building.
Ok, let's enter. I walk through the door after letind Shadowmere outside and I see what seems to be an bar, with a lot of tables where people are drinking and talking. It seems that nobody is paying attention to me. Good. I walk to the reception that on my left. there, a there's a row of tables with cute girls to work as receptionist for the guild. I stop in front of one of them and say.
(Mika): "I would like to join the guild."
(Receptionist): "Alright. Please, pay the inscrpiton fee of two siver coins."
i pay it and she asks me.
(Receptionist): "Would you like me to write the information for you? It will be for free."
(Mika): "Yes, please."
I gave her the information that she asked me, name, age (I said it was 18), and when she asked wich kind of adventurer i was, if i was a mage or a warrior, i said:
(Mika): "I'm a magic swordsman."
(Recept.): "what do you mean?"
(Mika): "Well, i can use pretty strong magic and fight in the frontlines with my sword, since i'm also pretty good at it."
She nodded and wrote it down. Then, she gave me a small card. It had the information that i gave her and a F on the upper right corner. It was my adventurers card, if i lost it, i shoud pay 10 silvers to make another one. It will serve as my identification to the other cities. I thanked her and went away. Now, let's find a inn with an stable. Later, after eating i will gahter some information.

(Three days later)
After finding a suitable inn, I went around for information. On the second day, I made some herb gathering quests. After around 10 quests, i ranked up to the rank E. The ranks are F,E,D,C,B,A,S and SS. An A rank adventurer is an elite adventurer and a S and SS adventurer are strong enought to kill dragons. Well, i'm probably enought for an army of SS rankers, so i don't have to bother with the ranks.
I got really bored until i heard about the dungeons. A place where people can gain money by exterminating monsters and selling their cores. I want to explore one of those, but i don't know almost anything about dungeons. When i asked the receptioninst, she said that if i have the money, i should buy a slave that knows about the dungeons and indicated me a good slave market that i could buy from.
I would begin a long essay about morals and slavery, but the system that they have here is pretty good, so I won't do that. Instead, I go to the guad post and take some gold with me, around 100 gold coins. Yeah, expensive, right? I walk until I get to the slave shop. It's quite a pretty building. When I enter, I'm greeted by an middle age man.
(Man): "Oh, welcome, welcome! Have you came here to buy slaves?"
(Mika): "Yeah. So, what do you ahve in stock that knows abut dungeons?"
(Man): "Please, follow me, i'll show you around."
We walk to the back of the shop that's full of big cages. Well, I had the expectation that his place would be dirty, but the smell is quite nice and i don't see any of the slaves here with dead eyes. All of them are well nutured and are smiling to me as I look at them, as if saying "buy me please!" Well, this is how a perfect slave market should be, with healthy salves that want to be bought and aren't dead inside.
He shows me a lot of slaves, man and woman. When I asked why they have became slaves, he said to me that they failed in too many quests and got a huge debt, becoming debt slaves. It's their fault, so I'm not against it. None of them catch my attention, until I notice something deep on the store, hidden from the sight of normal people.
It's the only cage where the slave inside is in chains and seems to have recieved ill treatment. She was clearly suffering from famine and was dirty, releasing a strong smell. She was kneeling on the ground with her hands chained to the wall.
(Mika): "What about this one?"
The man sighted.
(Man): "Unfortunately, she's a crime slave. We would have taken better caer of her, but she's too violent to let free. Even taking care of her is hard, as she always try to attack the ones who try to take care of her. She refuses to eat, but when she's too weak, we are able to feed her and avoid her death. But i fear that we will have to execute her soon, as we won't be able to sell her."
Such a waste, I can clearly see the magic power inside this girl, the enormous amout that nobody in this city(except for me) can match. I also can feel the blessing of something evil coming from her. Kukuku~, my researcher blood is boiling! I really want to research this girl, see what's wrong with her and if possible, create an similar power for my own use!
(Mika): "prepare the documents, I'll buy this girl."

I, Mor-eldal: The Necromancer Thief
As a budding little necromancer, I soon discovered that the world of city people is complicated. When my master kicked me out of the cave, he warned me not to talk about my “dark” magic, because people here don't like the undead. I am not really an undead, I just have a skeleton hand, but it is better to be careful. Anyway, that's not my biggest worry. In the Black Dagger brotherhood, I learn a lot of things, such as illusionist magic, which turns out to be quite handy to survive in this maze of streets: in the Cat Quarter, we have thugs of all kinds that are best avoided. But we also have good people, goodhearted “gwaks”, as we say around here. Little did I know that I would soon be caught up in an infamous traffic that would entangle my life even more. With a mix of lighthearted adventure and picaresque, this story narrates the hectic life of a good-spirited street child and his companions in a medieval urban fantasy setting with some nineteenth-century influences. Updates Mondays and Fridays. This is a Creative Commons By work. It is a translation of a trilogy I wrote in Spanish between 2017 and 2018.
