Welcome to KRO SciFi Fantasy Steampunk Surprise Me
At first I didn't feel like, well anything. I couldn't even feel. It was as if my mind was just floating there in a black abyss, and then that box showed up. So I looked at it trying to figure out how I was supposed to select fantasy when the box vanished.
Thank you for your choice
Syncing with Fantasy
'So apparently I don't need hands, or the rest of my body in the abyss. It reads my mind.'
Once the second box disappeared my surroundings started to change. I felt like I was watching those big bang theory videos as I watched stars, planets, and everything else that's supposed to be in space form around me. Then I was pulled (or the universe moved around me, I still couldn't feel anything so it was hard to tell) to a new planet that was rapidly changing, growing. I watched mountains rise out of the ground, oceans fill in the valleys, and plants cover everything. Well, almost everything I saw a desert, and an ice cap.
Would you like to enter character creation?
Y/N?
'Why is that a choice? Unless, if I don't enter character creation, maybe I could be a ghost? That could be fun, so no I don't want to enter character creation.'
Generating character based on mental map.
Character successfully created!
'Oh, so I don't get to be a ghost.'
I was again pulled through space until I was at the surface of the planet, and then I was pulled to the mountains. Just before I got to them I dropped into the ground and actually started to feel things. First I felt something warm and gooey and all over me. Second I felt a lot of heat, which got rid of the gooey stuff.

"Open your eyes, my daughter."
I kind of felt like the voice was talking to me so I opened my eyes. All around me was the remains of a (now burned) giant egg, and directly in front of me was a dragon. We were in a cave, or at least underground, and the dragon took up about half the space. She was huge. I was pretty sure I could fit in her mouth about five times, and her teeth were uncomfortably close. Her scales were a dark color, it was hard to tell in the darkness of the cave exactly what color they were.
"Have I failed again?" She sighed. She sounded sad.
"Um... H-hello?"
The moment my voice came out of my mouth I started to really feel things. The goo, and the heat had been nothing compared to the sensory overload I got. It was as if all my nerves suddenly woke up, and each one of them was screaming at me, trying to get my attention. Although, the ones that really got my attention were the ones in my tail, and wings, and everything else I had never had before. And that's when I realized that dragon was my mom.

Observations of the Nameless
Sometimes the world will just whirl by without a care for its inhabitants. Each passing day bring a new experience unlike the one before it. Why do we do anything... That's a really good question, isn't it? Author's Note: Each chapter is about 300 words, so that's the reason for the short story tag even though this will be a (somewhat) ongoing series. Expect an update twice a week on Tue/Wed and on Fri/Sat. No set time, but likely afternoon or evening.

In the year 2142, humanity’s technology has developed to the point of cybernetic and neural implants. People all have neural receptors attached to the brains, allowing for unfettered, 24 hour a day, global access to the neural net. A string of attempted break ins to a secure facility has authorities scratching their heads. Every few days, a new person is caught trying to force their way through checkpoints, reinforced doors, and cyber security. None of the perpetrators have any criminal history, and all are seemingly unconnected. Their methods are random, and worst of all, none of them have the foggiest idea why they there in the first place. Detective Jon Peld finally finds the common thread linking all the perps together, a vr mmo known as Istrius. Mind jacking is an outdated crime, one thought to have been completely eliminated centuries ago as the neural implant tech was perfected, but all the pieces fit. He can't convince his boss though, so there's only one thing left to do: investigate from the inside.
8 124Crafter's Passion (AKA Gleaners' Guild)
2038, California. Stan is doing his mandatory "volunteer" service years on a collective farm when he encounters Thousand Tales, a game that offers immortality to the super-rich. He can't afford to have his brain uploaded like those elite customers, but maybe he can turn a profit out of the game instead of just playing it. Not as a legendary swordsman or a brilliant wizard, but as a dealer in the junk no one else seems to want. If he plays his cards right, he can draw the attention of both the farm's supervisor and the game's ruling, meddling AI. Should he, though? LitRPG. Part of the world of "Thousand Tales", a novel series on Amazon, though no knowledge of it is expected. This story is around 12K words long. It came out on Amazon under the name "Crafter's Passion" and has many reviews there, thanks in part to the support of RR readers like you. Thanks! It even has a sequel, "Crafter's Heart".
