《The undead who yearned for life》1-The day I killed for the first time

It was a bad day for Jack, not only he had to remain to work at the hospital overnight, he couldn't even find the time to eat something at the cafeteria downstairs, and now another emergency occurred.
This time the daughter of the CEO of the most influential and powerful group in the east side of the world got runned over by a truck, and was now in critical condition.
"How in the bloody hell do they want me to save her? She got run over by a fucking truck for god's sake".
However, it was his job, and this would be not the first time for him to do the impossible; during his career he had saved hundreds of lives, and a good deal of them had been considered as by all the other surgeons across the world.
From a very young age; more precisely from when he saw his own parents die under the hands of a surgeon, Jack promised himself that he would do anything in his power so that what happened to him would never happen to someone else.
Fortunately both his parents had a life insurance that left him and his younger sister with enough money to live comfortably and go to the best medical university.
Thanks to his hyperthymesia, Jack could remember everything that he saw in his life, so his grades were never a problem, and when he got to test his skills in surgery during the training, he found out that his hands were firm enough to not even make a millimeter of error.
This allowed him to get the place as the head surgeon in the most important hospital in Japan in only two years, making him the youngest person to accomplish it at only 23 years old (he jumped multiple years at school), and helped him doing all his .

Running along the stretcher Jack gave a look at his newest patient: she was covered in blood and at first glace he could tell that a lot of her bones were out of places; not only that, her internal injuries were heavy to the point of wondering how she was still alive. However her eyes were wide open and she was murmuring something, but he couldn't tell what.
Once in the operating room Jack gave her an anesthetic, then he began working on her; but after only three minutes, the eyes of the girl opened again and she stared at him.
"How is this possible? That anesthetic should've kept her sleeping for 24 hours".
Without saying anything Jack started to reinspect the girl, and immediately found something strange; her bones were slowly coming together, while her internal injuries were slowly healing, that was when it hit him: her body was the most perfect a human could have, it was to the point that she could easily beat people double o triple her size just based on that.
"Well, that explains why she could wake up after five minutes from the anesthetic, but she's frigging healing on her own!" reasoned Jack.
At that moment the girl started moving her mouth, but still no sound came out; the staff who also understood what was going on quieted down, until the only sound which could be heard were the words: -kill me please-.

Nero Zero
Monsters plagued the lands for too long. No matter if one had fangs, beak, teeth, skin, fur, or feather, or was tall, stout, or diminutive, the people suffered. Until the Gadgeteers came with a device that could allow people to fight back. Powered by one's own magical power, feeding off of monster Essence, the Arbitrium bracer turned the tables. It also changed society. Strength of one's level cap was all that mattered. The strongest were Kings and Emperors. The weak or those too poor to afford the marvelous device, destitute. And so it has been for millennia. All that mattered was one's level cap. High, low, a fate decided the moment the strange contraption came alive. Too high and you were a threat to those interested in keeping the status quo, a weed to be nipped before it could grow and take root. Too low and you were nobody, fated to be a bit more than a simple farmer. What if someone, somewhere, came up with a zero for their level cap? Unable to use Essence, unable to level up. On all of recorded history, it never happened. Until it did. In a small village of fur-less and tail-less ape-beastkin, a boy found out he was uniquely handicapped. Nero's level cap was Zero. But he'd never let that stop him from reaching his goals. ------------------------------------------------ All stories have already been told. We merely reuse elements from them. From Joseph Campbell's Monomith to Stephen King's advice, and that encyclopedia of tropes you've visited, fiction has been dissected and reassembled countless times. One will surely find elements inspired on other works here. Just like cooking from basic ingredients, the recipe and presentation is what really matter. This is a fantasy adventure, of someone that goes from a zero to a slightly bigger zero. It will have romance but no harem. Cruelty but with hope dimly shining ahead. Lightweight where it can be, heavy where it must. Thanks for reading. Cover Credits (The cover is CC-BY-NC-SA): Steampunk Spider Bracer, by Daniel Proulx.
