《9001: A Dungeon Ship Odyssey》Chapter 16: Beginner Mage Training

The following morning Leah was already up in the gym with her new wand. She looked at the targets and was smiling as around her a veil of water condensed into water bullets before shooting and hitting the targets.

Soon the water vanishes and a strong wave began to radiate from Leah and her body began to float and several strange phenomenon began to happen be it space slowly distorting or the air vibrating as if there was something with a powerful vibration near her body.

“It’s so easy to control now!” She said with a smile and stopped using her magic and dropped down but she stopped a bit before touching and gently landed.

At this time Tony, who had been watching from the get go appeared.

“Fuck, this is going to be scary how this will end up once you have gotten stronger. I wonder, will that wand’s curse grow weaker or stronger as it grows?” He asked.

Obviously he had scanned it but it was so complex that even he couldn’t figure it out. Obviously there was magic inside it and being someone from a world without it he obviously lacks that section of technology. Even when he had searched a few times about the subject, magic isn’t something that can be encased so easily with a small search. He will definitely need a datacube holding quite a bit of in depth information on magic to understand the fundamentals.

“I still fear how I will be later on when I don’t use this wand.” Leah said looking at the black wonder.

“Oi just came to say that the clone Imps are finished growing. I had to trash 3 because they were albino and wouldn’t last. The others were a light pink and two males were a bit darker.” He said.

“Oh really, we need to move the two males into different simulation habits with the other females and get rid of extra males that are weaker.” Leah said.

“There are no males, I kept the two strongest and killed off the rest of the males.” He said.

With a nod Leah leaves and walks to the bioengineer lab where she finds the imps in the cylinders. Most were the size of babies.

She goes to the main computer, “Drain the tanks.” She said.

“Yes captain.” The AI said and slowly the water solution began to drain and the imps lowered down onto the warm platform. The water had been warmed up to body temperature so they were comfortable so the metal had obviously gotten the heat.

She takes two of them and moves across the hall and places one male who was the darkest shade of pink in one room and then goes to a different room and puts the other. Then she quickly moves the females into these rooms equally.

“Good, now Tony the food is?” Leah asked.

“There is a kind of gruel that I found which can even aid them to last longer. This was something suggested by the book the weed got from her village.” He said and a drone floated out and took out a jelly like mush and put it in the mouth of the Clone imps. It did as suggested and even the color of the imps brightened a bit. The drone goes from one to another feeding them equally.

“Okay let’s get making the next set of clones.” Leah said and walked back to the lab.

First she looked at the list of the first group and trashed the clone data from those that were originally trashed since they weren’t going to be used.

Looking at the second group she noticed that Queror’s information was in one.

“Why is Queror’s DNA information here?” Leah asked.

“Oh I had a drone take blood samples and I added it. You really should have him fuck the females it would instantly birth healthier.” Tony said.

Leah stopped and had truthfully thought of this point right at this point. That said she did not know if Lesser demons could breed with Wingless Imps.

“Let's give him his own cloned group from the next group.” Leah said and Tony just shrugged.

Leah just had the cloning capsules close and undergo the cleaning process before it filled up with the growth solution. It was a slightly gel like thing that was similar to the water inside the womb. Then Tony did his part and the activating the cloning process. It looked similar to his own core holder several dozen bolts of lightning struck the middle of the container once before it vanished.

“Done, it will be three days like the regular imp birth speed for them to be ‘birthing’ size.” Tony said.

Finishing with the preparations Leah once more returned to the simulation habits and took out her wand.

[Enslave Bind]

She cast the enslaving spell on all the Imps before they even had coherent thought so their mentality would be 100% of serventail.

“Don’t kill or hurt each other. When you have reached adulthood you will mate and give birth.” She ordered once all the Imps were enslaved.

Although they didn’t even know what she said the magic reacted all the same. The following day they would begin mating as soon as they wake up. If they survive long enough they would give birth possible twice if they were lucky.

With all the work done Leah relaxed and left the room and stretched as she went upstairs and took a bath.

At the same time that Leah went to take a bath, Nelim was getting up while Mirella had returned from a morning run.

Nelim had taken a shower earlier and headed up and began to cook and Mirella went to take her own bath and when the three finally met up when the Leah and Mirella headed to eat breakfast and was met with quite a welcoming sight at the table.

“Good morning!” Nelim said with a gentle smile.

“Morning!” The two replied and began to eat and chat happily. Leah was exclaiming how good the wand was and how nice it was to truly manipulate the elements. She was so happy that she could barely sit still or eat properly. The two crewmates laughed and after eating they got ready.

“Today we will be training again okay, this time you will be sure to train your manipulation okay Leah?” Nelim asked.

“Of course!” Leah said with shining eyes.

They all put their armor and like the previous day they put their armor on and Leah still put her pistols and rifle on but this time she stored her normal wand for the black one. The reason being that her affinities worked for Fire, Water and Mystic magic but not the others. Earth, Wind and other types of magic didn’t work if she. Having her high affinities took away her capabilities to use regular magic not in these systems but through the guns she can still make use. Even her other wand lets her use it but not manipulate it.

Entering the dungeon Leah gripped her wand and began to manipulate the water. Before they even touched the water a space of 4 meters in diameter was formed around Leah that was completely clear of water like a barrier formed.

While still in the safety of the first room Leah began to train controlling the scale of what she blocked and pulled.

After half an hour she more or less had some remedial control and they start walking without getting wet until they reach a ‘fishing room’ as it is called. It is a common room with high spawn rate for Bullet fish. There were actually nests within this room which were magically protected so that new fish wouldn’t be sucked up from the fishing.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

Three storage units appeared with a thump next to Leah.

“Alright, lets see if I can do this.” She said breathing in deeply and with a wave of her hand six vortex began to rise from the water's edge and began to rise and twist around them forming a vortex water barrier and once it got to the peak they merged and descended before splitting into three and entering each storage unit. The units rose up when it sensed the water and she controlled the water and moved it back into the room without getting a drop on them.

The current was quite powerful and soon the bullet fish were caught in the current. Others saw the threat and launched themselves against the barrier only to be caught.

“Wow!” Mirella said with wide eyes.

Nelim on the other hand looked at Leah and the barrier before putting her hand against the water and closed her eyes.

She sensed the magic within the water for a long time and even felt it stop for a moment and heard a few more storage units come out before it came out and halfway she turned.

“Leah, are you using only water magic?”

“Only? I think so.” She said.

“You have mystic magic mixed in. It feels like you're aiding your water manipulation with telekinesis.” Nelim said.

“Really?” Leah said she felt her magic but didn’t feel anything. She then slowed the current and used telekinesis and felt the mystic magic and suddenly she felt a similar presence in the water. “Wow there really is!” She said wide eyed.

She slowly withdrew the mystic magic and continued and suddenly felt a huge pressure.

The other two noticed and Nelim smiled. “Your mystic magic mixed in naturally when you use magic it seems. To keep it from doing so is harder.” Nelim said.

The current was much weaker now and slower without the mystic magic aiding it and the mental exertion Leah was putting was much higher to keep her magic from mixing. Mystic magic is really strange in that it perfectly compliments other magic but is also a system of its own.

By the time she filled the second set of three storage units she was exhausted and Nelim took over for her to rest. Leah was both mentally exhausted and on low mana and was feeling dizzy with a headache. She sat down and took a mana potion to help alleviate the mana exhaustion symptoms while she meditated to calm the throbbing in her head. Even with her affinities her max mana capacity isn’t that large even when using a lot of mana for magic weapons. She didn’t exert much but now that she had she knew what the real mage types went through and ruefully smiled remembering how she had always prepared mana battery to not suffer.

After some time she switched back to let Nelim rest as they moved to a different room after cleaning out the first. An hour later they left with 2400 fish. Paying 1 credit per fish to remove them, since it was impossible to sell it for the regular 2 credit for 1 fish like usual so they took it all.

Much to Tony’s irritation bullet fish only give 2 mp which mean 4800 mp but they had only gone to train magic instead of actually get money or MP.

After a rest Leah went to the Gym and began to do basic magic exercise she learned for magic manipulation before she stopped. She naturally summoned ten fireballs. As she felt them she noticed mystic magic mixed in causing the reactions in the fire to be more powerful. She pulled out the mystic magic and the flames became drastically unstable and more than half of them went out and she kept only five alive with a frown.

She them had them start dancing around her and slowly increasing their speed. Each had their one circular path that would collide with each other if she wasn’t careful. She did this for a long time before she was able to summon one more fire ball and added it and slowly and carefully added it on a different spinning course. This had raised the difficulty and her head began to sweat as the mental load rose and the mana consumption as well.

“I need to catch up for what I had not done before.” She said and kept going until she felt faint and let it all go shooting them at the targets and sitting down and meditating.

Meditating worked to regulate breathing and the condition of the body, gather mana faster and aide with relieving mental pain. For martial artists it will help with the same and also help them reflect over what they had trained.

Leah as well was reflecting over her exercise and after a bit she started it up again.

The other two smiled as they saw her pushing hard. “Lets not get left behind.” Mirella said and entered before she began to do her exercises. Not being able to fight had left her with excess energy and needed to spend it so she began.

Nelim giggled and left and went to take care of the cockatice and was happy to find a few eggs and with magic she found the infertile ones and took them upstairs and began to whip up some energy drinks with some of the recipe books she got from her family and friends and food that would help with both body and magic growth. Food has always been the basis in which all sentient races grow to sentience. If humans didn’t learn to cook food they wouldn’t have gotten smarter than animals. The same for all the other sentient races.

When she was done making the energy drinks, which could also be called Sport drinks by training maniacs or Training potions by alchemists. She lowered the heat cooking the other food and took the drinks to the two girls who thanked her. One was transparent yellow and the other transparent blue. The blue one went to Leah and the Yellow went to Mirella and each had a different effect. One boost’s greatly mana regeneration and incited the growth of the mana capacity while the other boosted regeneration capabilities and was loaded with a lot of energy which is fills the drinker with energy so even if their stamina was low it would instantly be filled and it would brim with energy that could barely be wasted easily.

The two girls could barely contain the energy and had to train harder to calm this uncomfortable bursting feeling of having so much energy in their bodies.

Nelim happily returned to her cooking. Watching all this Tony sighed and shook his head from his core while looking through the ship system.

“These girls are completely immature. A 15 year old captain, a 16 year old vice captain hobgoblin and a 15 year old Naiad cook. What kind of crew is this? It feels more like a group getting ready for a slumber party. No matter how I look at it they aren’t even close to being a serious crew made for space travel.” Tony thought to himself and sighed.

He changed the view to the Queror’s room and saw the demon with a book.

“Me-di-ta-tion… close… eye…?” he muttered confused and frowned. His human like face with the demon features made a strange contrast.

Watching the demon scratch its own head in confusing made Tony have a strange feeling. He saw the imps as mindless yet lesser demons were borderline something intelligent. It was still vicious yet this thing was a reader. The Grimoire was always open yet it didn’t fill up yet there were books on many magic spells. It was reading about meditation and the principals behind it which Tony had searched up already.

“This is boring… lets see what magic is since I have nothing else to do.” He said and began a long drawn search using the AI to start pulling safe confirmed information about magic.

As the sun starts to set the two girls dragged themselves into the baths and soaked for a long time before going to the kitchen and finding a banquet.

“Come and eat guys. I went out of the way to use many herbs and spices that would heal the body and fill it with energy and mana and would slowly help you grew stronger.” Nelim said enthusiastic.

The two felt their stomach growl upon smelling the food and walked over and began to take slow tired bites but slowly it grew fast as the taste assaulted them.

“How could… that idiot… lizard kick… someone like you!” Mirella said in between bites.

Nelim blushed and smiled. “What was really systematic… it was easy to change one herb and get a really good improvement. Most of these dish’s you could get from him but I did a few changes of my own to have the effect to help your bodies recover.” She said.

“Does he do the same?” Leah asked.

“Yes, most Adventurer's Association branches have what is called Battle cuisine. It is food that uses herbs and monster ingrediants to have effects on the body. Problem with the Kosak branch is that although the food is amazing, each dish has a fixed effect and Krominax doesn’t want to change. Like this Sahuagin Fin soup with Red Bofila fruit and Craggy rock root cooked in fresh water it can help physical fighter’s body relieving muscle pains and healing torn muscles. Normally it would be made with Tuber fruits and cooked in seawater from the nearby reef and ocean instead of Red Bofila fruit and Craggy rock root cooked in freshwater. The effects are slow overall strength growth boost. This is a daily breakfast meal that warriors eat to get a boost before going to the dungeon.” She said.

The two, no, three as Tony had appeared and activated his food simulator and was eating all the food along with the girls.

“Damn food is quite a complex study.” He said and laughed.

“Well, him firing someone doesn’t actually affect their currer in truth it helps it since it showed they aren’t like minded idiots. Even if he wanted to somehow block someone from getting a job he would only somewhat succeed here in Kosak. He is quite low ranking among the Adventurer’s Association cooks. New cooks only go to there because it is the best time to be recruited.” She smiled and the two girls also smiled and laughed.

Mirella patted the seat next to her and Nelim sat down and started to eat with them while telling them which affects certain ingredients had but if mixed in a specific manner it would change. It was quite a lesson to the three on cuisine, especially Tony who never came in contact with magical herbs and monster ingredients that have these effects.

He was actually quite interested and began to search up what he could on it alongside the actual information on magic. He was still learning about magic in its basic principles before he moved on to magic technology which, after a quite peek, he knew would take weeks and looking through a hell of a lot of documents before he can find the lowest level school work to the highest.

They soon finished and Nelim began cleaning up while they pulled up the TV hologram and began to enjoy the free time after an exhausting day.

“Hey Tony, how much mana do you have stored?” Leah asked after a while.

“Hm… around 15k.” He muttered bored as he was reading the many files through his Hologram.

“So we can’t get much, maybe we should improve security through.” Leah said.

“The robot's are already being built so what else?” Mirella asked.

“Well this…” Leah said and pointed to the screen and made it bigger.

Tony looks over the sofa around the table he was sitting along on and Mirella looked over the table. It was a commercial.

“Come now and purchase your own Magic Drone. One of the unlike the conventional drones purchased through the system of ships cores these are more durable, lightweight and are backed back magic weapons like magic powered rifles and a scanner unique to searching for mana signatures. Unlike the common drone that scans for life signs these are better and can spot the trails and body of those hidden through stealth with magic. Not only that but as a magic drone it is the Tier 1 model that can help your ships access magic technology. For only 12 payments of 2,500 credits once a month, this drone will be all yours!” The spokesman said.

“This is bull.” Tony said.

“Can you make it without having one?” Mirella said.

“I can search up some older model schematics, I can probably spawn on if it unlocks.” He said.

“Let's see then.” Mirella said.

Tony falls silent for a good ten minutes before in front of them a ball of mana began to gather and formed a large sentry drone but it was sleeker and more sturdy. Along the sides were openings were you could see the mana cables transmitting mana all over.

“There, a full 700 mp to spawn a Mark 1 Sentry drone from 5 years ago that was released to the public. Similar robot's to what I have also unlocked when I spawned this.” He said bored.

“You should really search for these things.” Leah said.

“I am searching for things that will complete my knowledge of this world. I don’t even know the basics of magic so shut up Captain Bitch!” He said annoyed and sent the drone off to the floors below to patrol.

“If you need to learn about magic why didn’t you ask, I learned from start to finish even if I only used weapons for magic because of my incapability to use regular magic.” She said.

“Just organize this from first grade to the last one.” He said and a mass of screens appeared shocking Leah.

“How long have you gathering information for this? Leah asked as she began to shift through all the screens pushing more complex things out of the way while bringing forward the easier things and slowly lining up some screens joining them to form one page.

“About two days, when you went crazy with your magic, I started to study since I knew shit about this universe. The primary problem is that I have no idea how to make even one magic related system and there are quite a few required things we need for space travel that need magic and even if it is a default model I will choose to learn about it because I don’t want to be a one trip pony who just buys the default model gear. I plan to make my own things by modelling off these so I need proper education on this.” He explained.

“Wow…” The three said in unison.

“What?” He asked.

“You're… different for sure. Your were such an ass before but suddenly your want to study.” Mirella said.

“Like I need you to tell me green slut. I’m thinking about myself, I need magic systems if I want to produce an android or biologically engineered body for myself or else I will remain with robot's and metal for the rest of my existence. These simulators are good but they lack substance so I want a real flesh and blood body as quick as possible.” He said.

The others just looked at each other unable to reply. Mirella said she was going to bed while Nelim remained to wash up the dishes and Leah kept organizing the information until some point at night before going to sleep herself while leaving quite a bit to organize.
