《Rise of the Goblin Dungeon》Chapter 8: The calm after the spiderstorm and a huge feast.

A slightly shorter chapter since there is more of a recovery phase than anything else and i had to test out skyrim SE :D Might just give me some better ideas for this story as well.
Hope everyone is enjoying the story so far and don´t hesitate to leave comments :)
Yes !! It came ! Soon i will have a body again. I cannot wait to eat something no matter what. To feel the sun again. Even if it's something like a goblin. Well beggars can't be choosers.
The goblins were still cheering around the Horde Mother's corpse. They were in extremely high spirits about having beat such a threat without losing a single one of their own. For the time being I put the matter about skill points and evolution for later to give out instructions. There was a lot to do after all.
“Good good, it's over now. Those seem to have been the last spiders. Get Gob inside, tend to the wounded and some of you put away the corpses. Eat what you want and the rest throw into the insects cave so they have something to munch on. ”(Me)
The insects were my greatest concern for now. That battle had diminished their numbers greatly all over.
Will need some more breeding caves for them i think. They were great cannon fodder but there are too few now. Speaking of which I should really expand this dungeon. What was that about expansion range increase before ?
Your dungeon can only sustain
Level + 1 rows
Level + 1 column
of Dungeon blocks
This might be changed by other influences to some extend.
Currently you can at most have a 4 x 4 block sized dungeon.
Your servants can extend the terrain beyond this but
your mana will not keep those regions stable.
Ah so to say if they dig tunnels outside my range they could collapse while everything inside of my area is supported and kept in shape by myself. Are the increases in size evenly distributed or can i choose in which way I want to go ?
As soon as you buy one block towards
north, south, west or east
a column respectively row will be added.
That was something at least. Then there is no sense in waiting to buy those blocks. I dont have to use them right away after all. Oh right, what about going lower or higher? We are in the mountains here after all.
Certain conditions have to be met in order to unlock new floors
this includes but is not limited to the Dungeon Lords level.
Returning to the vague information style huh? Well no matter. Buy i want to extend the dungeon towards west and south. Of course with the dungeon entrance counting as north. Get me all available blocks.
You are about to buy 11 blocks of area.
This will cost
220.000 M
It will increase your mana recovery by
11.000 M/h
Are you sure you want to proceed?

Yes gimme that.
After that I felt a sudden drain in strength. I had never before invested that much mana in one go before so it was a really uncomfortable feeling. The same was with the growing. It felt as if my body was getting stretched before growing and being stretched again.
Ugh being a dungeon has its downsides as well. Now then how should i go about using the new blocks. So far i only used 4 for the useful stuff.
Since i could not decide right about about the layout and with my minions running all over the place it was a bad moment to reconstruct the dungeon anyway. So i decided to settle in the crystal cave and take a look at the avatar creation.
Avatar creation
Enables the Dungeon Lord to create a body for himself.
The avatar can only be produced in form of one of servant races
owned by the dungeon.
Currently available:
Goblins
Mountainstalker
Insect
It costs 1 Million M each time to create a Avatar.
You can only have one Avatar. Before you create a new
the old one has to die.
Do you want to create one right now?
Y/N
Holy shit ! that thing costs a load of mana. Just good I continued to save up or i would be screwed. This will nearly eliminate all the mana from the two previous weeks.
I hesitated a little but i still wanted to have a body so I confirmed and waited what would happen. There was suddenly a rumbling heard inside my cave and the floor in the middle of it cracked open. From it emerged slowly a single crystal pillar that grew in size.
Please choose a race for your Avatar
Currently available:
Goblins
Mountainstalker
Insect
Hmmm all of them would be interesting in some way but i'll go with Goblin. Thumbs are just too awesome to not have them.
Goblin was selected
You have a variant available
Poison goblin
Would you like to change your avatar?
Y/N
Nah thanks, I want a plain goblin for now.
Goblin was selected beginning growth process.
It will take a day for the Avatar to be ready.
Meh ! still have to wait. Well let's take care of the skill points then. Put one into radar and appraisal each. The last one i'll keep for now as well as the evolution point. Who knows if i won´t need one in the future.
Appraisal lvl2
Displays basic information of beings and objects. Detail of information is determined by your level, level of the skill and hostility or friendliness of the target.
lvl 2
More detailed information available, level difference between you and target is slightly mitigated.
Dungeon Radar lvl2
Scans the inside of your dungeon to display friendly and enemy units on your map. Weak hiding skills are ignored by this skill.
lvl 2
Radar scans outside of the dungeon for enemies that target your dungeon directly. Range is up to one km but accuracy diminishes with distance. Weak hiding skills are ignored by this skill. Increases sensitivity of radar inside the dungeon to detect mid level sneaking hiding skills.

Hmm pretty decent. So I guess since I can only wait for the Avatar to grow for now I should plan and build on my dungeon for now.
I leisurely moved through the dungeon for a bit to look over the goblins taking care of the aftermath. Some of them had been bitten a bit too many times so that they showed poisoning symptoms even through the resistance skill. The apprentices were taking care of them while old man Gobar supervised the disposal of the spider corpses.
Hmmm everything seems to be going smoothly. Hey screen, I can move rooms around but can i just swap around whole blocks as well ?
This is possible.
Just like with the room imagine the whole block moving where you want it to.
Condition for this is that the receiving block must be empty.
Awesome! That will make things easier. Hmm i guess the goblins home and my crystal cave should go to the very back… Though maybe something could dig through the earth? this is a fantasy world after all.
For now I moved my crystal cave to the south of the goblin home. So they were in the same block. Then i went and built a copy of the insects cave in the block south of the original one, with the difference that there would only be evolved insects in that one.
This way the small ones have more chance to evolve and the big insects have to fight serious enemies to survive. Natural selection is awesome after all !
The caves on the side that were nurseries had been turned into exclusive breeding caves for each evolved species. Also by my order it was a no kill zone to prevent the youngs from being killed. While i was at it i made a tunnel that led directly from the goblins home to the first insect cave and extended the entrance block over a few more rooms and tunnels behind the first ones where the previous battle had taken place.
After all the sentence, never change a working system, exists for a reason.
Like this a little labyrinth with branching and tunnels and some dead ends were formed to give the defending troops an advantage over the attacking ones.
While I was working at it the goblins finished a rough cleanup. The insects had dragged a lot of corpses to their caves for a meal and the rest had been turned into fertilizer or meals for the goblins as well. I watched a little as they dragged the Horde Mother's corpse into the goblin home to roast the whole corpse over the fire crystals.
“Well well seems you are enjoying yourselves there. But make sure to rest. Tomorrow will be a busy day as well.”(Me)
“We will attack the bastards that sent the spider !”(Random goblin)
“Can someone slap that idiot ? ”(Me)
“Why ?! We won the last battle by far ! ”(Random goblin)
One of the goblins actually did what i asked and slapped the yeller roughly over the head from behind. For a moment I looked over the gathered goblins to see how many understood the meaning. Some of the older goblins had a grim expression while the younger ones still looked somewhat confused.
“Well then, for everyone that has no idea what is going on yet. Let me enlighten you. In the last battle not only did the insects bear a large brunt of the initial enemy force but we also had the position advantage. Our enemy also was not coordinated in any way and simply rushed into our defenses. The Mother was also not the brightest and settled right at our entrance. This is why we won. Now we do not know who this spider was sent by, or what defenses and troops they have, not to speak about their potential resources. If we do not want to end up the same as them, the first thing we will do tomorrow is trace the spiders path down to the source, carefully to not get spotted and see who we are dealing with. Gobar for tomorrow gather the best scouts and appoint a leader. Kitty will accompany them. ”(Me)
I ignored the angry hiss from the side and went back to some more preparations while i left the goblins to their celebration that had taken a little dampener at my words but nonetheless was a merry round.
Hmmm guess i'll have to think of a proper name for Kitty soon or she might end up really hating me. Ah and I should set up some more crystals, those were life savers during the battle.
Since goblins and insects were now in their respective home I was able to begin the moving of blocks. I moved the goblin home and the parkour training field south of the entrance block for now. Like this the left half was left empty for future project. Then i placed some crystal geodes in the insect areas and inside my crystal caves. So the layout looked like this for now with plent of spare space to grow later on.
E I1 G I2 P
Maybe they can get some evolutions by interacting with the crystals later on. Might be fun to watch. Oh right i should better take a look at the class that Gob unlocked.
Apprentice Berserker
Fearsome warriors that charge into the thickest battles
without regard for themselves. They are war loving battle machines.
Requirements:
Survive a battle against multiple opponents while in bloodrage.
1 Armed combat skill
Unarmed combat skill
Bonuses:
Bloodrage skill
Strengthened Combat skills
Faster regeneration
Well i guess that one will work well with that idiot. He would be challenged with the finer works of any assassin or anything else for that matter. Anyway time to go to sleep! Tomorrow i can test drive my new body !

You'll see a few similarities here between this story and some existing stories, at least initially. There's a lot of inspiration drawn from both MoL and Re:Zero, though in terms of pathos and darkness, this story leans more towards the latter. Be warned, it is something of a slow burn. The main character will grow and become powerful, but a theme of this story is that power comes slowly and often at great cost.
