A deserted road within the campus. It is about 11 p.m. Enter Femi and Liz his lover.

FEMI: Come, Liz. Come, my love. Move nearer, my darling, and open your ear wide as I pour my soul into your heart. The fire of love is burning in my soul, hot and seething.

(He embraces her)

LIZ: Femi, dear, I love you so much that I'm going crazy. And how I wish you could but peep into the wells of my heart and see the fire of love banking high like the waves of the stormy sea, like a wild uncontrollable bush fire.

FEMI: O sweet words, words as rare as pearls and as sacred as the Eucharist. My darling, Liz, love is the peak of all emotions which two people can share; and the unity of man and woman is the greatest experience that both can have. Liz, will you marry me?

LIZ: Dear Femi, what woman made of flesh and blood could shake off the magic of your loving spell? I am enraptured by your love.

FEMI: You will marry me then, Liz?

LIZ: I ‘ll rather die than refuse!

FEMI: Ooh, my love!

(He kisses her passionately. Then he brings out a ring and slips it into the index finger of her left hand. They embrace again.)
