《Electrosilver》Chapter 1

When his consciousness came to inside his new body, all that Luke could feel was warmth, indescribable warmth and comfort. Trying to move his body, he noticed that it could not move at all. For a couple of minutes he tried to move with all his strength until he eventually resigned himself to the fact that the only movements he could make were very minimal ones.
This was however a good opportunity for Luke as he noticed that he could use this opportunity to sort through all the information in his head. He figured that since this environment was not harmful to him in the least, he would first get himself together before trying to find a way out as he did not know whether the outside was as safe as this place he was in.
And so Luke began to sort through the information that he contained in his brain. To his surprise, the information was so large that many a times, even though he was organizing the information at the speed of a supercomputer, he felt like giving up.
The reason why Luke decided to organize the information was that while his consciousness was going through computers absorbing information, it was not selective on what information to pick and what not to. And as a result, while most of the information was useful, some of it was outright useless, some even harmful.
After what seemed to Luke to be two Earth months, he had finally finished sorting through all the information, prioritizing the useful and discarding the harmful. He had organized it so well that at this point should he try to obtain some of the acquired information, it would be as fluid as though he were browsing through his own memory.
Upon completion of the organization of information, Luke tried to move once more and noticed that while his movements were not even marginally helpful, they had improved from the last time that he tried and as such he came to the conclusion that the problem with his movement was something that would subside with time.
Since he could not move, Luke decided to make use of his other senses to see whether he could make sense of the situation, and while sight and smell rendered to be of no use, hearing seemed to provide some information, though inconspicuous.
Using his ears, he was able to make out a rhythmic sound. The more he focused, the drowsier he felt. The sound seemed to provide some sort of soothing sensation. From the sound of it, Luke immediately wanted to associate the sound with a heartbeat, however, no matter how hard he thought, he just could not come to terms with the fact that it was indeed a heartbeat, it was too slow, painfully so. The ‘heartbeat’ was so slow that a single beat took a whole five Earth minutes. However, while the beat was slow, it was strong. It sounded to him like the beat of a drum from the savannah.

The more he concentrated on his hearing, the more the beat got singled out and became the only thing he could hear. Having tried everything else, he only had his last sense left, the sense of touch. Upon concentrating on the feeling on his skin, he noticed that all he could feel was warmth, nothing else. No texture, no vibrations, nothing. Only warmth.
Refusing to accept that that was all he could amount to, Luke decided to focus every part of his being to feel his surroundings. While nothing happened at first, with every increasing moment, he continually felt a familiar feeling, as if an old friend of his was coming closer and closer.
Ten earth minutes after Luke began to feel, he sensed a presence that he was familiar with. One that he knew so well, he could rightfully claim was the building block of his consciousness, electric pulses. The electric pulses were not simply one or two, but many in number. In fact, with every single second longer that Luke sensed his surroundings, the number of electric pulses that he felt increased.
Upon closer inspection, Luke noticed that these electric pulses followed a pattern. He also came to notice that these electric pulses were not just outside but also within his body. To Luke this was an incredible surprise as he never would have expected to be able to sense electrical pulses. However, the more he thought about it, the more sense it made. For more than one year he had simply been an ethereal being. A consciousness that consisted simply of electric pulses.
The bodies of all organic beings are similar in the sense that, the largest part of information in the body is relayed through electric pulses. In the brain, the nerves in both the cerebral cortex and the other parts, relay information as a series of electric pulses. The transmission of information throughout the body happens in the same manner as the nerves from the head to toe all transmit information in the form of electric pulses.
It is for this reason that Luke’s consciousness was able to be transferred into the supercomputer successfully. Thus, it makes perfect sense that since his brain processes information in the form of electric pulses and Luke is perfectly aware of the presence, nature and characteristics of electric pulses, he is able to sense them himself, even while in an organic body.

As Luke focused on the pattern of the electric pulses outside his body, he noticed that they formed a shape. The more he focused, the clearer the shape became, and once the shape was fully clear, Luke could not help but gasp internally. It actually formed the shape of a….a….. A human!
As Luke could not sense any electric pulses past the human shape that surrounded him, he could not help but come to terms with the fact that he was inside the body of another human, most probably a pregnant one, his mother. His future mother.
Having come to terms with the fact that he was now a fetus in his mother’s womb, Luke could only wait while trying his best to improve his ability to sense electric pulses both within and around him. Having tried his best for what seemed to be eight Earth months, Luke could now say with certainty that he could effortlessly sense all the electric pulses within both him and his mother.
One thing that had baffled Luke, though not so much at this point, was that counting all the time that he had spent inside his mother’s womb since his consciousness awoke, he counted ten months. Had it been in a regular human on earth, he would have had already been born by now. Though he had already come to a conclusion that the lifeform that he was now was not human because of its heartbeat, he could not help but be amazed at how two lifeforms could look so similar yet be so different.
Having nothing better to do, Luke used the next month analyzing the electric pulses on what seemed to be his mother’s head. The electric pulses were way more in number there than on any other part of the body. For the whole month Luke had been focusing on one particular electric pulse in his mother’s brain.
There were two reasons why Luke focused on this particular electric pulse, for one it was one of the very few stationary ones, making it easy to study as opposed to the rest that kept moving so fast you could barely deduce the information they carried.
The second reason as to why he chose the stationary one was because he presumed that since it was stationary, it must have been a brain wave containing very useful information or a very useful memory that had been stored in the long term memory.
Towards the end of the month just as he about to decipher the brain wave, he managed to view two images before his concentration was broken by some sudden form of movement. The first image contained the fleeting image of a female person of average height with long black hair walking away into the horizon with tears falling from her eyes while the second image contained the image of a person looking over onto a large gathering of people. The gathering was filled mostly with women who were all cheering and shouting in joy.
As soon as his concentration was broken, Luke finally noticed that the time for him to make a debut into this new world had come. As the movement increased, he sensed himself exiting from the comfortable warm embrace and moving into a very uncomfortable environment (though this was nothing unexpected).
Once Luke’s body had fully exited into the outside world, he could hear a number of gasps before some very soft hands carried him, wrapped him up in some cloth and started whispering some things that he could not understand to his ear. The language was so melodic that every sentence sounded like the stanza of a song. Coupled with the soothing female voice of the speaker, one could not help but feel intoxicated.
Having been overcome by curiosity, Luke could not help but open his eyes. However, the moment that he opened his eyes, he noticed to his dismay that the only thing that he could see was……….. Nothing!
He was in total darkness!

A World Forgotten
***This story will contain lite-litrpg elements, mainly character pages and a town page. There will also be settlement building and adventuring, missteps and achievements. But one thing it definitely won’t have is a harem. Nor will it have an overpowered MC. Contains mild cursing.*** ***feel free to critique my writing and offer input. This is my first venture into writing. I've always enjoyed litrpg/gamelit books. I feel like I write how I talk, so it may be a little different. You won't hurt my feelings if you see something wrong or out of place! *** ***What follows is a condensed part of chapter 1. Enjoy!*** Drew Cooper is thrust into a new, unfamiliar world. Waking up in his sweats and t-shirt near what seems to be a forgotten path through some woods, he struggles coming to terms that he's no longer in his apartment. As he tries to cope with his new reality, he hears a horse coming down the path. He hides behind a nearby tree dreading what may happen next. As the horse approaches, he sees a man walking next to it. The horse is burdened with packs and gear. When the man nears, Drew nearly panics. He has a large sword strapped to his waist, obviously a fighter. He continues to hide as the man slowly passes only for the man to stop a dozen meters past his hiding spot. "You may as well come out, ya know. You weren't as well hidden as you thought," the man stated matter-of-factly, letting the horse’s reins go and putting his hand on the hilt of his sword. Slowly and scared for his life, Drew raised up and walked from behind the tree. "I-I'm sorry. I wasn't planning on attacking you. I-I don't know where I am. I heard your horse and hid. I didn't know what you'd do if you saw me. I'm sorry," he nervously blurted out. A minute passed. Then two. The man seemed interested with Drew and stepped closer, eyes squinting as if trying to see something. "What's that on your shirt? Is that. What is that? Is that, Pac-man?" The man was visibly shaken while pointing at me. Looking down at his t-shirt nervously, "Yea. Yea. I woke up here a few hours ago I think. 3 maybe 4 hours. I’ve just been sitting here. Where am I? What's going on?" Drew asked. "That's not important right now," the man replied. " What's important is where you're from. What year is it?" "What year? April something 2020. Why? What's going on?" Drew continued now worried. The man was taken aback. After a few moments, he seemed to calm himself some. The man sighed and looked at Drew in earnest. "Well, I've got good news and bad news for ya. Bad news is you're not on Earth anymore. Good news is you happened to run into me and not someone else. You’re either really lucky, or it’s fate we met in these woods, and I don’t believe in luck." The man continued to walk towards Drew while talking and put out his hand. "I'm John Mitchell from St. Louis or thereabouts. You’ve got nothing to be scared of by me. Walk with me and let’s talk."
