"Do I have to go", Indigo whined to her aunt as she cut her pancakes into small pieces. "Yes you do. I do not have time to hear her voice this year", Ameena said.
Today was Thanksgiving Day and even though Indigo did not want to, she was going to her so-called grandmother's house. She really did not mess with anyone on her dad's side of the family because they were never there when she needed them. Indigo knew that this year will be filled with subliminals like always.
"Her diner starts at four then the diner with my parents starts at seven. We won't be there long", Kenji added. Indigo nodded as she excused herself from the table.
"Make sure you are ready by three", Ameena yelled to Indigo as she walked to her room.

Indigo woke up from her nap rubbing her eyes. She took her medication today for the first time these past few months. As a result she has been extremely tired and drowsy. But the medication also makes her extremely active and talkative.
The last thing she wanted was to have a panic attack during dinner. She knows her grandmother will be so fast to claim she is not being taken care of.
Climbing out her bed she checked the time and seeing that it was 2:20 she decided to get ready. As she walked to the bathroom her phone rang.
Sev👽
will like to facetime....
Over the past week she has gotten a lil close to Sev. Most of the time they just sit and stare at each other, but when they do talk their conversations are interesting.
"Hey", Indigo said, showing all 32 as she smiled into the phone. "Oh wow your talking today", Sev replied as he adjusted the camera to show his whole face.

Indigo put her phone down on her bathroom sink. She already took a bathe so she only had to brush her teeth and wash her face. Taking out her bowl that had a mix of oatmeal, aloe vera and honey she applied it to her face. Indigo was a natural person. Everything she puts on her face is homemade.
"Why you putting that shit on your face", Sev asked as he made a face of disgust. "It makes my face clear", Indigo replied as she put toothpaste on her brush.
"It looks like it stinks". Indigo made a face as she brushed her teeth. "Mmm uhh", she could not talk clearly seeing that there is toothpaste in her mouth. "The fuck did you say", Sev asked as he squinted his eyes at her.
Indigo spit out the paste and rinsed her mouth before saying, "It don't". Sev continued to talk about nothing in particular as she washed off her face mask. She applied bi-oil to her face before taking her hair out its bonnet.
"You have so much hair", Sev said as he turned on his PS4. indigo nodded her head. Her hair was something that she was proud of, all her products are natural and she only puts heat in it once a year.
As a result she always gets questions about her hair. The most common one is "is it real" or "are you mixed". Indigo hated that conception that black girls can not grow hair. Because she most definitely can. Using some gel she parted her hair and slicked that part down. After fighting with her hair she was finally able to achieve the half up half down hairstyle that she wanted.
"Where you going for thanksgiving", Sev questioned. Indigo applied lotion to her body as she replied, "I'm going to my grandmother's then my uncle's side". Sev paused his game before saying, "You don't sound happy".

Indigo let out a short laugh and said, "I'm not. I hate my grandmother. I already know she's about so be on some dumb shit". Sev nodded his head saying, "I don't fuck with most of my family either".
"Imma call you later", Indigo said before cutting off the phone. She felt the conversation was getting too personal and she don't like telling people her business. After all no one in life is permanent they will eventually stab you in the back.
Grabbing her freshly ironed outfit, Indigo slipped the blue and white dress that passed her knee. Getting her phone she slipped it in a white bag before picking up her sandals. "I'm ready", she sang as she hustled down the steps.
Kenji walked up to her looking her up and down saying, "You think you cute cause you not". Indigo smacked her teeth before saying, "You a hater, cause I'm most definitely a bad bitch".
"Period", Ameena yelled from her room. "Bae hurry up", Kenji yelled up to her. "Nigga don't rush me", she utted as she walked down the stairs.
Kenji looked at her outfit before laughing, "Your mama is about to throw a fit when she sees what you're wearing". Ameena posed a little before saying, "I know, that's why I wore it".
Kenji leaned in and kissed her lips a few times. Indigo stared at them with a small smile on her face. She loved to see people happy and seeing her aunt happy made her beyond proud. She loved their relationship.
Kenji reminded her of her dad and she knew that when she got a boyfriend, she wants him to be like them. She loves how he never fussed about what Ameena has on. She can tell just by the way he looks at her that he is wholeheartedly in love with her aunt.
She wants a relationship like them but she knows that she probably won't get it. Especially in this generation. She was shaken from her thoughts by her name being called, "Come on NiNI we are leaving". Kenji held the door open for them to walk out.
Indigo opened the car door entering before hearing, "Hold on let's take pictures". Ameena gave Kenji her phone so he could take a picture of her and her niece.
Ameena crouched down putting both hands on her lap smiling as Indigo put her hand on her hip with a small mug.
Taking her phone back Ameena looked at the picture smiling before saying, "This is cute". Indigo sat in the car with a sigh as she leaned her head on the window.
I really just wanna stay home.

The Harrowbird's Crown
(Formerly: Tales of a Harrowed House) Synopsis: This is the tale of an exiled royal family who, after their bloody reunion on the island of Providence, return to a war-torn homeland where once more, powerful forces pit sibling against sibling in a bid for the crown — and once more, the magical streets of Auctor echo their infamous motto: “Fire will Reign as Harrowbirds Soar!” From his humble beginnings as a shoemaker’s son, his year spent as a daringly brazen orphan caught between rivaling Houses and a mad ghost, and his fight for the crown after his return to Auctor, Corbyn faces a coming-of-age story unlike any before him as he discovers magic and birthright are two things he never knew he had. From the intimate narrative of a childhood that was never her own, her year spent struggling to find the person she is rather than the person her family needs her to be, the secrets she hides, and the truths she finds, Halle discovers herself on the fabled island of Providence as her House collapses around her, bids to enter a legendary school of magic in her homeland of Auctor, and fights for a crown she never knew she wanted. A high-action, character-focused story written with a poet’s styling, The Harrowbird’s Crown is a tale that will transport readers into the conflict and conquest of a royal family back on the rise. General Information: This story is more traditionally plotted. While the beginning may seem to start out slowly, when shit hits the fan: the action is constant, the mysteries are satisfying, and the character development is rewarding. Chapters are usually between 2.5-3.5 thousand words (though some, like the first and second chapters, can run up to 5k words). When it’s long it means that the chapter will just have that much content in it. There’s Action, Mystery, Fantasy, Comedy, and some Psychological undertakings. Romance hasn’t come up yet, but it may in future chapters. I try to have chapters out every Sunday at 7:00 CST Book One: The Ghost of Providence

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
