《Bad is an Understatement | ✓》Chapter 26

"I don't know if it's too late to say this, but. I love you." Luke says with our bare bodies snuggled tight against each other.
I look up at his brightened and happy expression. A smile stretches out on my lips," I love you too." I snuggle up closer to him and hide my face in the crook of his neck.
"I have another question." He sounds nervously happy if that's even possible.
"Mhmm."
"Will you be my girlfriend?" I look up at him and my smile widens even more.
"I thought you'd never ask." He leans down to kiss me.
"Did I mention that I love you, and that I've wanted to do this for a long time?" He asks smiling.
"Yes and no." I go into the same position as before. I was almost asleep when the sound of vibration from the night stand startles me. I look up at Luke who was grabbing his phone.
"Hey." Luke starts," Riley? Ahh..." He looks at me for an answer. I grab the phone from him.
"Hello?" I ask.
"Riley?" I hear Heath's voice. Why does this guy have to ruin everything?!
"What?"
"Where the hell have you been?!" He asks angry.
"Is that the only sentence you know?" I ask because he's said that before. I think.
"Riley where are you?" He asks.
"It's none of your business and if you were wondering I'm fine. Actually I am more then fine. I'm great. I'll show up to the fight tonight so stop bothering me." I hang up before he could argue even more. I hand the phone back to Luke and he puts it away.
His eyebrows rise as he makes eye contact with me," What?" I ask innocently.
"Don't ruin your mood over Heath."
"I'm not and don't worry I'm happy I'm with you." My stomach growls and my face heats up in embarrassment. It just has to growl at the wrong times. "Is anyone home?"
"No, dad went out for a business trip he won't be back for a few days." His dad. I still have to ask him about everything. I really had hoped he would've told me by now. Maybe he will later. He's probably waiting for the right time
"Riley?" Luke asks.
"Huh? Yeah?"
"What were you thinking about?" He asks.
"Ah I... was thinking... about what I should make for breakfast." I save myself. Hardly.
"Oh. What about pancakes?" He grins. Scored!
"Sure, but first I'm going to take a shower." I smile. I peck at his lips before I stand up only to realize that I'm completely naked, putting on a show for him.
I sit back down and grab his shirt off of the ground and put it on.
"Hey." He whines and I stand up. I stick my tongue out at him before leaving to take a shower.
I close the door and step into the steaming hot shower after I take off the only piece of clothing I was wearing. The hot water soothes my delicate and sore skin.
I look down at my stomach and see the huge dark and purple bruise that had replaced my skin. I sigh and grab the body wash to start cleaning off the dirt.
I hear the door squeak open. I turn my gaze to the door through the glass door to see no one. I spoke a little early, because right then the shower door opened revealing Luke. He was wearing a white t-shirt and grey sweats.

"You." His voice intense. He walks in and stand two feet away from me.
"You couldn't just wait outside could you?" I ask looking up at him.
He didn't answer as he was too busy shamelessly running his eyes over my body. I blush and clear my throat to get his attention. His eyes were full of lust. So much that it kind of scared me in way it shouldn't. I lower my eyes to avoid his.
The shower was still running getting Luke's clothes wet. I could see right through his white shirt which revealed his six pack. "You're beautiful, and I don't think you wanted me to wait outside; you did leave the door unlocked." He smirks right before he lifts my head up and kisses me.
The kiss was full of love. I kissed him back with the same passion. He picks me up and my legs curl around his waist. He pushes my back up against the wall and bites my lip causing me to moan.
He lands small kisses down my neck and I start breathing heavily as every touch took my breath away. My hands tug at his hair and he lets me down.
I breathe heavily and my heart races a million times per hour. My hand trails down to the hem of his. I tug at it and he stops. He backs up and I pull his shirt off. I touch his abs admiring them. I look up at his face, water trailing down.
I see him looking at my lips just before he crashes them against mine.
There goes my shower. Oh well...
**********
The smell of fresh pancakes covers the air as I put them down on the dining table. After an hour together in the shower, I finally forced Luke out and showered properly. Luke is currently taking a shower and the house is empty besides the two of us. I decided to get dressed in my fighting clothes that Luke had put in the wash before deciding to join me in the shower. I also wore one of Luke's shirt on top to cover my stomach.
I was happy about what happened last night mostly because I know I actually do love him. I think that's why I kept having flashbacks about Jack, because he wanted me to move on and admit that I had feelings for Luke.
A pair of arms curl around my waist and I get lifted off the ground," Hey." Luke whispers into my ear in a very sexy tone. I wince in pain as his arms tightened around my forming bruise. "Oh I'm so sorry." He apologizes.
He puts me down and I turn around in his arms," Hey. It's okay." I smile. His dad.
"Ooo! Pancakes." Luke excitedly says and sits down on one of the seats, already munching on them.
I ruffle his damp hair," Hey, leave some for me!" I whine.
"There's plenty." His mouth stuffed with food. I laugh at his childish behaviour. I sit down on the seat next to him and start eating as well. "You know I love you?"
I giggle," Yes."
"Are you nervous for the fight tonight?" Luke asks while eating.
"Yeah. Kind of." I swallow the pancake down. I finish eating and push the plate forward. I nervously wait for him to swallow his last pancake. He drinks some orange juice and notices me waiting for him anxiously.
"What's wrong?" He asks putting the empty glass down.

"Ah, talking about fighting. I wanted to ask you something."
"Yeah, sure. What is it?"
"I found out that your dad is the host of this tournament. Why didn't you tell me your dad's involved in the street world?" My words came out fast.
"Oh. Riley, I would've told you, but I didn't think that it affected you, and I didn't want you to think that if someone was an easy fight that we had something to do with it." He calmly explains. There was a hint of hurt in his tone.
"Oh, and you never knew I was a fighter before you heard the rumours?"
"I didn't. I swear, but why are you asking; do you not trust me?" Luke asks with a pained expression.
"I do. I just- there's a lot going on, but I'm just happy we're together." I smile. I walk over to him and sit on his lap. He kisses me and I smile at him after we break it.
"Do you want a repeat of last night? Or this morning? Both are fine with me." He grins.
"Yeah, not happening." I smirk. I really need to stop worrying and be my happy self again. I need to stop getting involved in things I shouldn't, and I need to stop questioning my boyfriend.
"It's four." Luke says looking at his phone.
"But we just had breakfast." I laugh.
"We had breakfast for dinner." He laughs and I laugh with him. "I love you and that smile, you know?" He smirks while wiggling his eyebrows.
The word smile made me look at my wrist which was tied around by the bracelet Heath had given me for my birthday. I unknowingly smile playing with it with my other hand while my arms are around Luke's shoulder behind his head. "I love you." I say to him and I stuff my head into his shoulder.
This is all I needed. One person to not lie to me and be honest. Luke generally makes me happy. I can't wait to go on with this relationship and find myself again.
*********
"You'll do great." Luke reassures me as we walk into the underground basement. We walk in together as his hand is snaked around my waist.
"Riley, where have you been?" Jen asks eyeing Luke's hand around me.
"I was with Luke." I smile.
"Everyone was so worried. You really need to tell us where you're going, or at least call or text us." Jen says worriedly.
"Sorry I didn't have my phone with me, but I told Heath I was with Luke."
"Yes, at one this morning." She says," You left at midnight."
"Sorry mom." I tease her and she scowls.
"Riley?" I hear Logan's rough voice behind me. I turn around making no eye contact with him," The fight's about to start you should get ready." He suggests and I nod.
I'm not planning on talking to him anytime soon. I know I'm just hurting myself by not talking to him, but it's necessary. He needs to realize that he made a mistake and apologize for it.
I look back at Luke. He kisses me with pure passion. When he breaks it, the numb feeling still lingers on my lips," Good luck." He says. I feel the eyes of other people staring at us, but I decide to ignore them.
"Thank you. Don't leave this time." I joke. He smiles.
"I won't. I promise I'll be right here the whole time cheering on my girl, and then when she comes down after she wins I'll give her the best kiss she's ever had." He mischievously grins causing me to blush harder with every word.
I'm his girl. I smile and climb up onto the ring.
I pull my shirt off letting the cool air hit my bare skin. I seriously just had pancakes before this. I roll my eyes. I'm so stupid.
Logan passes me a water bottle and I take a few sips, then pass it back. I notice Heath wearing only black basketball shorts, which hung low below his waist revealing his 'V' line. His eight pack looked more defined then the last time I had seen them at the beach. His skin was tanned and reflecting the light from the ceiling telling me that he had just worked out.
I, on the other hand, felt very sore for two very separate reasons. One from the fight yesterday; I have multiple bruises. Secondly, I had sex. Twice for the matter. Which by the way took a lot of energy. I really should've had this more planned out.
The referee stood in the middle and we follow. Just do it, Riley. Combine all your skills. I can do this.
The whistle blows and I realized that I spaced out everything the referee had said. I put my hands up forming fists and start moving. Heath does the same," You came?" He sounds shocked.
"I kind of had to. Why? Are you scared?" I ask happy that my cocky side was coming back.
"Would you look at that. My princess is back." Heath grins taking a swing, but I dodge and hit his abdomen.
He seemed a little taken back, but grins," You'll have to do way better then that Princess." I roll my eyes. "So you and Luke?"
"Yeah so? Got a problem, bad boy?"
"Not at all." He smirks trying to hide his clenched jaw. He lifts his right leg and kicks me on the side of my ribs.
"Fuck." I groan in pain and lean on the ropes for support. I hear the crowed 'OOOO' but I ignore them.
"You done already?" He asks.
"Who said I was done?" I hiss. I swing at him, but he dodges and punches me in the stomach exactly where the bruise was still growing.
I fall to the ground on my knees and grab my stomach. My eyes blur with tears from the sudden amount of pain. "That was low." I scowl getting up again, but a hundred times more pissed off than before.
I wait for him to make the first move this time. After a long couple of seconds, Heath goes for a swing. I pull the same move as yesterday and grab his arm in action. This time though, I don't snap his elbow. I kick him on the back of his knee and he falls down. I get on top of his back and pull his arm.
"Fuck." Heath curses in pain.
I aggressively press my knee down on the side of his face so he can't get up easily and it caused him a little more pain ,"Give up Heath before you make me snap your arm." I warn twisting his arm a little more. I knew I wouldn't snap his arm, somewhere in him he did too, but the fear showing on his face seemed real. I hope he doesn't think I actually would.
"Princess I always knew that you wanted to be on top of me, but I can honestly state that I'm on the wrong side." As much as I wanted to laugh at the fact that he's making sexual comments while we're in the ring I hold it in.
"I'm going to do it." I say twisting his arm even more.
"Ugh! Fine! I give up!" He shouts and I let go of him.
"Fuck yes!" I stand up in one move. Suddenly, I feel an enormous amount of sharp pain. I see Heath standing up. I blink a couple of times as I start seeing double. The crowds cheering becomes muffled. Before I know it, everything becomes dead silent and pitch black.
A/N:

The Edge of Endless
Due to some unforseen and significant life events, this story will be on hiatus for a time. Reborn into a strange but familiar world, Alex makes it his mission to uncover the mysteries of governments, gods, and the arcane realm known only (and inaccurately) as the Unending Depths. Slowly but surely, he grows in ability and meets new and interesting people. tEoE is an epic fantasy LitRPG with a focus on plot, writing, and hopefully original twists on the standard formula of 'MC picks cool class, levels up'. Give it a read if any of the following appeals to you: > 3000-5000 words per chapter, chapters released at least once per week, usually several times. Expect good grammar. > Story focus on illusions, secrets, and traps (along with the usual combat and character stuff). > Progression fantasy, but one where progress is meant to feel earned, moderately paced, and reasonable. Some advantages, but not big, unfair ones. > If a random reader can work out that putting a big rock in a bag of holding, lifting it, and then dropping the rock is free energy, then so could an adventurer who's owned a bag of holding for twenty years. Side characters have brains too. > Blue boxes! Levels! [Classes]! [Skills]! Loot! > No uncomfortable sexist undertones. Ambivalent about including relationships. Definitely no harems. There are a number of arcs planned and this will be ongoing for some time. I am very appreciative of the kind reviews and comments left so far.
