《Bad is an Understatement | ✓》Chapter 25

"You're hurting me." I wince as Logan cleans my wounds.
"Look at your hands Riley you just opened up old cuts. How are they going to heal if you don't stop being so stubborn?"
"I don't know maybe a thing called the immune system." I reply sarcastically.
"I'm serious." He says throwing the used cotton balls away. "Now put some clothes on."
"Exactly what I was thinking." I grab one of his shirts and slip it over top my sports bra and shorts. Logan disappears to the kitchen, and I sit there watching Teen Wolf.
He walks back in holding two mugs. The top of the mugs releasing steam. I feel the couch sink beside me. "Here." He says holding out one of the mugs.
I take it from him," Thank you." I smile. I focus back on the TV taking sips of the hot green tea.
"I'm sorry." Logan sighs after a couple of minutes.
"It's not your fault, Logan. To be honest I shouldn't have said yes to fighting anyways."
"I guess, but I'm sorry for hiding things from you."
"It's okay. Tomorrow's the last fight and I think I know how to stop myself from thinking about Jack."
"You know I always wonder why you still like him. He left you without giving you any explanation."
"It's a good thing I do."
"Well, ever since I've become officer Logan I've been searching for him every where, but he's totally disappeared from the world. I'm trying my best Riley."
"I appreciate it, but I think it's time that you stop. You can't find someone who doesn't want to be found." I state. "And why are we even talking about this? I think I've had enough depressing situations for the day."
He chuckles,"Yeah? I'm just happy tomorrow's the last game and you can leave all this behind you."
"Me too." I smile.
"Okay I'm going to take a shower."
"K. I'm going to sleep now." I head to the second bed that was clearly not being used.
Logan heads to the bathroom. Okay, Riley one last fight; make it count. Wait. How the hell is Mr. Johnson a part of the street world?... What does he get out of it? Why didn't Luke tell me? There's definitely something fishy going on.

Wait. How'd he know Logan's a police officer? Did Logan bring his gun or something with him to the fight? But Logan's off duty. I have to check.
I think to myself and get up. I walk over to the other bed and start searching for anything that only a police officer would have. I look under his mattress and there's a file that says 'PRIVATE' in big red letters. I pick it up and put on the bed. I mean it says private in big bolded letters that won't really stop you from looking inside...
I continue searching for anything else. I open the drawers to his nightstand and find a loaded gun. "What is this guy up to?" I mumble to myself as I put the gun down on the mattress exchange for the file.
I open the file. Jack Christian. I read the title page. I flip through the couple of pages where it stated when he disappeared and all the people he was close to. Kol Johnson? I read one of the names on a different page.
"Riley?" I hear Logan's voice. I get startled, close the file, and pick up the gun pointing it towards him.
"Whow." He puts his hands up in surrender.
"Why are you here?" I ask surprised at my own calmness.
"It's my hotel room." He tries to play dumb.
"No why are you really here?" I ask annoyed.
"Riley just put the gun down."
"Why?"
"Because you know how to use the thing." He says.
"Thanks to your older brother. Now answer the damn question." I command. He starts walking towards me slowly. I pull the head of the gun back and he stops dead in his tracks. "Don't make me pull the trigger Logan." I warn.
"Fine I'm here because Jack's research brought me here." He keeps his hands up.
"What?! What are you talking about?" I ask utterly confused. Jack's dead how can he bring him here? Jack has never even been here.
"Riley, just listen to me. I was back home, you know, trying to find clues on Jack. Well, I found out that someone was looking for him too and his name is Kol Johnson the host of this tournament."

"Luke's dad?" I ask completely shocked," He has nothing to do with Jack." I state.
"That's why I'm still trying to find out why he was searching for him, and how can you be so sure?"
"So this is why you made me join the stupid tournament? So you could get closer to him for your research?! Logan just stop. No matter how close you're going to be to getting Jack you'll never actually be close enough to bring him back." I state. " And I honestly don't believe any of this. This is probably just your way of making me not see Luke anymore." I scoff putting the gun and the file both down on the bed. I let out a breath which also made me release an unwanted tear. "Just stop lying to me Logan. That's all I want. From everyone." I walk past him grabbing my keys and exit his room.
How can he do this to me? He's the oldest friend I have and how could he be so careless at this point in my life?! Jack's dead! Maybe if he knew he would understand. I sigh wiping away the tears. But I can't tell him, he would feel horrible and I just can't see him in that state. I start the engine to my car and start driving.
I stop at a phone booth. I grab some change that I kept in the car and go outside to call considering that I left my phone in my dorm room. I dial the number.
"Hello?" I hear a groggy voice on the other side of the phone.
"Luke?" I ask.
"Riley?"
"Yeah. Uh I know this is very inconvenient especially at midnight, but can I come over? Not to your dorm, but your house?"
"Of course. Yeah is everything okay? I searched for you after the fight, but apparently you had left."
"Yeah I did. I'll tell you everything in person."
"Okay, I'll see you there then." He says and I hang up. Luke? Really the last person I should be asking for help, but I did. I'm surprised I even remembered his number.
I walk out of the booth and walk through the crisp freezing air to my car and take off towards Luke's house.
*********
"Are you sure you're okay?" Luke asks me as I've silently sat on his bed for half an hour now.
"Yeah. I'm sorry... I called you and.. now you're all worried." I mumble. He kneels down in front of me.
"No. Riley. I'm glad you called me." I look into his dreamy eyes. His hair was messy going in all directions and yet his face still looked fresh and clean.
I look at his moisturized lip only wanting them to be on mine. Our breathing slows down and he starts leaning up towards me, almost like he read my thoughts. Slowly. He stops a couple of millimetres away. "Please." I nod pulling him closer to me making our lips meet.
His lips met mine sending gracious warm vibes through my whole body. I fall back and Luke kisses me harder now on top of me. I feel his tongue finding its way inside my mouth and I don't stop him. His hand grasps the hem of my shirt and he tugs at it. He stops the kiss and we both breathe heavily. I nod and let him take my shirt of and I take his.
He kisses me again. He starts making his way down my neck and I hold in a moan as he kisses the tender spot behind my ear. My hands trail down his muscular back as he does so.
I also realized that he was being careful not to put pressure down on the forming bruises around my body which only made me like him even more.
He lands a soft kiss right above my belly button and I couldn't suppress the moan any longer. I feel him smirk against the skin. I grab his hair and pull him up. We start kissing each other again. I feel his hand go under my sports bra and I don't protest.
This is going to be a long night.
A/N:
