《Bad is an Understatement | ✓》Chapter 21

"Hey! Logan!" I rapidly wave my arms to make myself stand out in the crowd of people. Logan's eyes fall on me.
"Hey, Riley!" He gives me a warm hug," You look so different."
"Thank you." We start walking.
"What's wrong?" Logan asks.
"Nothing." He stops. I turn and look at his raised eyebrow. I can never hide anything from this guy. "Fine. Jen, she's my roommate. I told her about my dad, but I didn't tell her about street fighting. All my friends were under the dilemma of me being middle class."
"So?"
"Just let me finish." I've been a little irritated lately," Well they found out and they're just not happy about the fact that I didn't tell them."
"Oh."
"I haven't talked to Jen all day and Heath, I mean Rider, he's been all over me since he found out Ivy's me."
"That's a very sad predicament." We get to my car. I open up the trunk and he stuffs his suitcases in.
When he gets in I start the engine and I drive towards his hotel," Sunset, right?"
"How'd you know?"
"You've always had a taste for expensive things." He smirks.
"So here's the list." He says scanning over it.
"I already know I'm number one. Who's number two?"
"A guy named Connor dyck."
"Haha, that's funny." I laugh," How many girls made it in total?"
"Fifteen, I think."
"Oh."
"So you know Rider personally?" Logan asks.
"Yup. He fights really good. I've used some of my moves on him. They work, but only because he's either off guard, or he's holding himself back."
"Are you scared?" Logan asks a little nervous about what my answer might be.
"Yes I am fucking scared. That guy is a walking death machine if the wires get loose."
"Wow. He must be." Logan says reading another paper," It says here he's hospitalized more than five fighters."
"That helped so much. Thank you." I over emphasize my whole sentence while taking a left turn into the hotel's parking.
"Sorry, just start training and you'll be better than before." His confidence in me is scary.
"Yeah, yeah."
"Here." He hands me a couple of papers. "It's a history of the top twenty five people. It's the most I could find on them, and also your training hours. I heard there's a gym at your school's campus so we'll be training there. I'll always be there."
"How?"
"A taxi or something, I guess."
"Thought so." I say turning off the car's engine. "This is yours." I pass him the keys.
"How are you going to get home?" Logan asks as I step out.
"In that." I nod towards my Ferrari.
"You bought a Ferrari?!" He asks shocked. I've never been the one to spend a lot on cars.
"Damn right, and take your dirty little eyes off. You ain't getting shit from that. It's mine." I smirk.
"Oh come on Riley, one test run! Please! Pwease!"
"No." I walk over to it as Cole steps out of the driver's seat.
"Thanks Cole." He throws me the keys.
"No problem." He smirks noticing Logan's fallen expression.
"Hey! That's not fair. Why did you let Cole drive it?!" Logan comes behind us.
"Because his life revolves around cars. He knows how to drive without scratching my baby."

"Your baby my ass." Logan mutters causing me to laugh.
"I'll see you later, Logan."
"Fine." He says. Cole and I get into my car. I drive Cole back to his garage and I drive back to the dorm.
I park in the parking. Everyone around stares at me as I get out. I see Heath walking towards me. "Damn Riley, not hiding anything now are we?"
"I wasn't hiding anything before either."
"Then how come no one knew you were a street fighter?"
"It's illegal. Being a street isn't exactly something to go around bragging about, and I didn't think that it was that important." I cross my arms over my chest.
"Well Princess. I did my research. It says here," He reads something off of his phone," you started out fighting alone, but turned into a tag team with one of the top fighters. Jack Christian. You've never lost a fight, and then puff! One day you both disappear." His gaze was full of questions.
"Congratulations!" I clap." You did your research. Do you want a reward for it too?"
"Ha. No Princess. I just want answers."
"Well, then.Nobody's going to serve them on a gold platter, so go find em yourself." I walk past him. "You know what." I stop. "If you want answers I'll give em to you, but only if Ian, Dylan, Jen and Kylie are there tomorrow at lunch in the cafeteria."
"You know that Jen's pissed." He adds.
"Yeah."
"She's never going to come."
"Well that only depends on how bad you want answers." I say walking away for good.
Riley. Just a couple of answers that's it. This'll all be over before you know it.
*********
It's currently twelve o two and I'm waiting for my friends to show up. Well, at least I hope they do.
Jen came after I fell asleep last night and left before I woke up. Everyone's ignoring my messages and Heath hasn't told me anything either.
How's it going?
Seen at 12:06
They're not here yet.
Seen at 12:06
Oh, have you started your diet plan?
Seen at 12:07
Yeah. I'm starving-,-
Seen at 12:08
Hahahahahah
Seen at 12:10
Idiot. They're here ttyl
Seen at 12:10
Okay, good luck!
Seen at 12:11
I lock my phone and let out a breath, I didn't even know I was holding back, as they all sit down. "Hey, guys." I smile, but no one says anything.
"So Princess, we're all here." Heath starts. I nod.
"Okay, what do you want to know? But before you start. I'm only answering what I want." Heath nods.
"Why'd you start fighting?" Heath asks.
"Because I needed money."
"Who got you into it?"
"A childhood friend."
"Name?"
"Logan."
"Who taught you how to fight?"
"Jack." I look away from his eyes.
"Why'd you need money?"
"Jen already knows, but it's because my mom died when I was fourteen. I had to keep the house going, because my dad was an alcoholic. He pulled me out of school when I was in grade ten."
"Those scars on your back they're not from fighting." He states confidently. How was he so sure?
"Yeah, they're from my dad."
"Why'd you quit?" Dylan was the one to ask this time.
"I can't answer that."
"You can't or you won't?" Jen asks with pure bitterness.
"A bit of both."
"Why'd you say yes to playing against the top fifty?"
"Because they wouldn't take no for an answer."
"Have you ever lied to us about anything, ever since you've been here?" Jen asks.
"No. Everything I've told you today and before this is true, but there are many more things that you don't know about me, so if you do find anything out. I need you guys to just listen to what I have to say before you judge me based on those." Everyone nods.
"You know we're here for you. You can tell us anything. We're just not big fans of lies." Kylie says.
"Neither am I." I look at Heath knowing he's hiding a lot of his own secrets. "Are we okay now?" I ask.
"Yup. Just one last thing. Where's Jack now? I found out that he totally disappeared from the fighting world." Heath asks seeming highly suspicious.
I gulp. "No I haven't talked to him since we quit." It was silent for a while.
"Okay then. Riley, we're coming to watch you beat Heath's ass!" Ian declares enthusiastically. We all start laughing. Heath glares at us.
"Hey!" Heath whines.
"Thanks you guys." I smile," I'm really sorry."
"Don't worry. Just don't do it again." Kylie warns with a smile.
"If you don't mind we actually have to go." Dylan says.
"Yeah sure." I reply.
"We'll see you later." Dylan says leaving with Kylie.
"Can I talk to Jen privately?" I look at her, but the question was for the two boys.
"Yeah." Ian says. He kisses Jen on the lips before leaving. Ian grins at me before he leaves. Heath goes with him.
The eff. How'd I miss this? I thought I was suppose to hook them up.
"Are we okay?" I ask Jen.
"Yup." Jen says smiling," Just don't lie to me."
"I won't. I promise." I hug her. She seemed surprised at first, but she hugs me back.
"So when are you starting your training?" Jen asks as we walk out together.
"Today actually. Logan's coming over around six and we're training at the gym on campus."
"You know only guys go to that gym." Jen says.
"Is there a rule that says girls aren't allowed?"
"Nope."
"Then I'm going. The guys can stop being sexist pigs for a couple of days." Jen laughs.
"Why'd Heath start fighting?" I ask Jen. She thinks for a minute.
"He needed to find a place to get his anger out. The money was just a bonus and he started living off of it. He's never burrowed even a cent from our aunt and uncle since he started."
"Oh. You do know, I can tell that you don't like the fact that he fights." I say curiously waiting for her answer.
"To be honest I don't like it when anyone fights."
"Why?"
"Because when he goes out there. I never know if he's going to make it out alive. He's good, no doubt, but just the thought of him not making it, kills me. He's the only family I have left. Sometimes I wonder doesn't he ever get scared?"
"I know where you're coming from. You know he's so lucky to have someone in his life that cares about him so much, and from my point of view he probably does every single time he goes in the ring. But you know what keeps him going? It's you. Family is the biggest motivation out there."
"What about you? You must have someone."
"I did. I stopped after I lost it." I sigh.
"I'm sorry."
"You shouldn't be." I smile. We both walk into our room.
*********
"We're starting with bench press." Logan says.
"Okay." I walk into the gym. Being a girl earned me stares by all the sweaty guys in the gym.
I sit down on the bench and take off my jacket. I throw it off to the side and lay down. "Okay, I'll try and go for three."
"Okay." Logan says standing behind me. He picks the bar up. Each side had fifty kilograms. He let's go of it after I have a good hold of it.
"Shit." I breathe. I pull it down slowly and then up again.
"One." Logan says. I repeat and feel my muscles burn on the inside,"Two."
I push it up," Lo-logan I-I ca-can't." It falls back down, but a hand stops it from hitting my chest.
"Now Princess, you shouldn't be doing this if you don't know how to." I glare at him. My breathing gets heavier. After a couple of long seconds, he finally lifts it up. I sit up panting for air. My whole face burns from the amount blood that had pumped up to it.
"Holy shit. You could've killed me." I breathe out.
"But I didn't. You owe me Princess." I glare at him and look at Logan who's pinned to the wall by Dylan. "Dylan let him go." I sigh.
"No," he says.
"Fine then. I was just saying what's best for you." Logan elbows Dylan in the jaw and flips him around in the air. Dylan lands on the ground back first and grunts.
"Fuck!" He groans.
"Told ya."
"Let me guess, black belt?" Heath asks.
"More then that." I say and we both laugh.
Logan steps over Dylan and walks towards us. "You warned him." He says fake surrendering.
"I did. That's Dylan and this is Heath also known as Rider." I introduce.
"Nice to meet ya man." Logan says as they firmly shake hands.
"Logan?" Heath asks.
"Yup."
"For a second I thought you might've been Jack." Heath admits and Logan lets out a laugh.
"I wish," Logan says.
"Yeah Logan doesn't street fight. He's more of a technic kind of guy." I add and Heath nods. "What's up with you almost killing me." I stand up.
"Heard there was girl in the gym today. Really couldn't miss the show." He smirks.
"Ha. Ha. Don't go checkin out the competition you might just fall for me." I wink.
"Who said I already haven't." He stares deep into my eyes. I gulp. He looks so serious.
"It's your mistake if you did." I add and he chuckles.
"I was just kidding."
"You actually had me there for a second."
"Is someone disappointed?" He asks in his baby voice.
"Looks like the baby just came out of his shell. When are you moving back to kindergarten?" I tease him.
"Very funny." He says in his normal voice.
"Can you guys stop flirting?" Dylan comes in.
"Shut up or else I'll make you." His adam's apple bobs letting me know he's scared.
"Where's the punching bags?" Logan asks.
"Down that room." Heath points out.
"K thanks." I say walking towards the rooms.
"Hey, princess!" Heath yells.
"Yeah?!" I ask.
"Happy early birthday!" He smirks.
"Stalker!" I yell.
