《the human (r.h)》thirty three; toxic

The noise of black heels bounced off the stone grey walls, candles flickered as the dark clad figure passed by them. Something in the air changed as she walked by. Not that the atmosphere ever held anything other than fear, or danger, however as she glided through its halls, it seemed to get colder. It was as if it could sense the explosion that was about to go off.
Many darkly clad figures stood around the throne room. All of these had costs that would tie around their neck and flow to the floor. No one was exempt from wearing one, except for the vampire that was making her way to that very room.
Each and every vampire had an ability that would make the other scared, but for a reason that was never voiced among them, Delilah George instilled a different type of dread. It wasn't on par with Aro, or Jane Volturi, no, those two spread unimaginable horror. However, the presence of Delilah was enough to set these powerful vampires on edge.
The newborn was unpredictable, which is what made her so dangerous.
As the doors swung open, Delilah entered the room, pleased to see that she was the last to arrive. She never did like to be early to things like this. There hadn't been many 'meetings' that she'd attended, but the ones she had made her realise that the less time spent here, the better.
"Sorry I'm late," The brunette looked down at her nails as she stopped in front of the steps where Aro stood in front of his large throne like chair, "I was doing," She paused, unsure of an excuse, "....things."
It was lucky that Aro had a soft spot for Delilah, because no body else would get away with behaving in such an informal way. But since the girl had arrived in Volterra, she had been allowed to do as she pleased; she declined officially joining the Volturi, and left the castle as and when she pleased.
Her position had caused many of the vampires to resent her. Many had hatched plans to get rid of Delilah, however none of them ever worked out. Mainly because Delilah could always sense the threat.
The girl had done a pretty good job of avoiding death, and if she continued playing the game as well as she was, then she'd continue to avoid it for quite some time.
She also felt as if she had nothing to fear, as she had all of the most important members of the Guard on her side. When Delilah grew bored of terrorising tourists, she often found herself seeking entertainment in the likes of Demetri, Jane and Felix. When she grew extremely bored, she would go and find Alec, who had started to like the girl.
With the most powerful members on her side, Delilah had nothing to worry about.
Life, or rather Delilah's afterlife, was pretty much a breeze. The only thing missing, was Rosalie Hale.
The girl had been unable to get the thoughts of the blonde out of her head since she arrived in Italy. At first they had been thoughts of hatred, the same as before Delilah arrived at the newborn battle, however they soon turned into thoughts of love.

How Delilah craved to have the girl speak to her like she used to. She wanted to be told how Rosalie loved her, and even just wanted to hold her.
The thoughts made Delilah hate herself. She could hardly believe how weak she sounded. They were thoughts only human Delilah should have, not vampire Delilah. For vampire Delilah wasn't human Delilah, she couldn't be. She had to stop herself from being hurt like that again.
She deserved better than to be hurt like that again.
Aro laughed as he clapped his hands together, he was rather happy to see the brunette. It had been a few days since she was last in the castle, she had spent her time doing who knows what. "It's alright dear," In the back of Aro's mind, he was rather scared. He had formulated a plan, one that if it worked, would be brilliant, but if it failed, then he sensed there would be danger. "As you can see we were all waiting for you."
Delilah tore her now brown eyes away from Aro and looked around the room- in truth the girl had secretly been disappearing from the castle to some new by forestry where she could work on her abilities. She had soon discovered that her manipulation not only worked on others, but on herself. Which is why her eyes were now brown again, she didn't really like herself with the red.
"Oh," Delilah sent a pearly smile to all as she slowly spun around, "Well, I'm sorry I kept you all waiting." She wasn't, Delilah could care less about most of the vampires in the room. They were merely just members to her.
"Don't apologise," Aro smiled at her, if he kept her sweet it was sure to work in his favour, "They didn't have anything else to do." They did, they were always tasked with something.
Delilah smiled as she laid her eyes back on Aro, "In that case, I better take my place then."
As the brunette moved towards where Jane Volturi stood, the voice of Aro called out to her, "No, my child." A shiver ran down her spin as his words, there was nothing she hated more then when he called her that. She felt as though she was his possession, but she wanted to be no ones, "I have something I needed to show you."
The heels paused their clicking, Delilah's frozen heart sinking slightly as the words. Fuck, she thought, this could not be good. Has she done something wrong? What could they possibly want to show her that they gathered everyone here for? Maybe they were planning an ambush.
"To show me?" She asked as she span slowly back around, "Whatever could it be?" She tried to keep her voice sweet to match the smile on her face. She only hoped the vampires couldn't tell how nervous she really was, if they sensed a weakness then they would pounce.

The long raven haired vampire did not reply, instead he pulled a single white envelope out of his pocket- Delilah didn't even know he had pockets.
As Delilah walked the few steps to take the envelope out of Aro's outstretched hand, she noticed how it had already been opened. It could not be addressed to her, if it was then it would not have been opened. Everyone here knew better than to take what was hers.
She flipped it over once she'd taken it from his hands. There was no name on the paper, which the girl found unusual but decided she had no time to ponder on as she felt all the eyes on her.
"Open it." Aro's voice flowed into her ears, she could hear the excitement in it as he spoke. It unsettled her. She was unsure was game he was playing, and she knew he had the upper hand here. Something that didn't sit very well with her.
Even so, Delilah's tanned hand reached through the ripped opening. Slowly pulling out a thick card, she knew straight away it wasn't a normal card like one would get for their birthday. It was flat, one sided.
It was a wedding invitation.
As soon as Delilah laid her brown eyes on it, her frozen blood started to boil.
She had no idea who it was addressed to, the name had been torn off, but she knew it wasn't for her.
"Where did you get this?" She didn't tear her eyes away from it, she couldn't.
"We were owed a favour." It was Cauis that spoke, a smirk dancing on his lips as he did so. The man enjoyed Delilah's presence, she was a threat to everyone in the vampire world- apart from them, as they had her on their side. And he loved that about her.
Delilah heard the words, but she did not react to them as she reread the words on the thick paper:
N
Delilah tossed the card to the ground, not bothering to read the location, she knew where it would be, they were too predictable.
"A wedding? How lovely." The anger behind Delilah's eyes was clear to see, as a smile broke out on her face, "Romeo and Juliet together at long last." She spun of her heel, taking in the faces of each vampire in the room, "Who here was invited?" Once no one made a noise, Delilah laughed, "It seems neither was I."
She couldn't believe the cheek of it. Isabella Swan claimed Delilah was her best friend, the Cullens claimed that Delilah was family. Yet she had not been graced with an invite. Had they sent her one, she probably would not have gone, for she couldn't show up in a town where they all thought her dead or missing. However, they didn't send her an invite, which was rude. Even if she wouldn't have gone, it is always polite to ask.
"Oh my child." Aro smiled slightly, while Delilah may be the manipulator, she wasn't immune to a bit of it herself. And this was exactly the reaction he wanted.
"Am I correct in thinking they haven't held a funeral for you yet? Or even a memorial?" Cauis too joined in the taunting, he knew Aro's plans well. Jane Volturi too figured out their motives for showing Delilah the letter, and couldn't help the cruel scowl she sent towards the older vampires way. This was cruel.
"You are correct." Delilah had heard nothing of there being any sort of remembrance for her at Forks. They held a one minute silence at graduation when her name was called, however that was it. It was as if the girl had never existed in that town, only the people that loved her still bothered to talk about her. She was the most important part of that town, and yet she was forgotten. "It is as if I was never there."
"Maybe it is time you remind them." If Delilah was thinking clearly she would have been reminded of her parents in this moment. She remembered how they used to taunt her, into doing things. Which is exactly what was happening now.
She was too blinded by anger to realise they were using her own ability against her.
A fire lit behind Delilah's eyes as she looked up at Cauis, "Maybe so," Jane Volturi clenched her eyes shut at the thought of Delilah causing herself more pain. While the brunette may seem strong, Jane knew from all the nights they'd spent together that she was weaker than she let on, "Forks is always beautiful this time of year."
As Delilah turned to leave the vampires with her sarcastic comment, she was interrupted, "Delilah, do not forget where you belong." It was Aro's voice. The return of Delilah to Forks is what made him nervous, he had faith that the girl would be loyal to the Volturi. However one could never be so sure.
Delilah paused her walking, but did not turn around, "Of course.....I know where my home is."
The brunette knew home was wherever made her happiest, and right now that was Italy.
But things had a habit of changing.
