《To Be A Dad (Irondad and Spiderson)》6:Birthday

Tony couldn't believe that his son was now a year old. A whole year! And Peter had only been with him for a couple of months. 3 months to be exact. In May he got the best birthday present ever, which was Peter, and now Tony had to return the favor. It was a huge deal to Tony because he never had a true birthday party and he was determined to give Peter the best first birthday ever. So him, Rhodey, and Pepper made some pasta and had Happy pick up a cake.
Peter usually clung to Tony while he tried to help in the kitchen. The father didn't mind, just picked him up when he wasn't helping and gave him kisses and hugs. Peter would giggle and try to talk to them, mostly just babble and trying to get their attention. Rhodey would mostly talk to him, entertained by the 'talkative' boy.
Tony was pleased that his son was healthy and happy for his first birthday. Peter had really wiggled his way into his life and Tony enjoyed coming home to his bubbly little boy. He was surprised that Obie hadn't figured it out. Hell Tony sometimes buys toys for Peter when he's at a store or on a business trip, and Obie doesn't question it.
The father didn't mind, the longer he kept Stane out of the picture the better. "Daddy!" Peter called out as Tony grabbed some plates. Tony smiled down at peter.
"What is it, Tesoro," Tony asked as he set down the plates and crouched down to Peter. The one-year-old just reached up to him, and Tony just smiled and picked him, holding him with one arm and setting the table with the other.
"Elmo," Peter spoke as he pointed to the Elmo balloon the billionaire had gotten him. Tony smiled and nodded, of course, Peter would know the stupid red furball. Peter so far knew four words, and the four were, Jar for JARVIS, Ro for Rhodey, Daddy of course for Tony and Elmo.

Pepper and Happy, were a bit sad that they weren't in Peter's vocabulary but were glad he was talking. Peter seemed to love all of them, getting excited when he would see them and loved getting hugs from all of them. Although the clear favorite was JARVIS.
Anytime the AI spoke the baby would cheer and giggle, speaking up to the ceiling in order to hear him again. JARVIS loved talking to him and Tony caught the AI speaking to his son more than once. Somehow J learned how to baby talk.
"Alright is everything ready?" Tony asked as he walked back to the kitchen. Pepper nodded, taking Peter from him and kissing his cheek. "Let's eat!" They all sat down, Peter being placed in a highchair next to Tony, a small plate of spaghetti was placed in front of him. Pepper sat across from Tony as Rhodey sat on the other side of him and Happy across from him.
The night was filled with laughter and Tony imagined this is what family looked like. Just a night with people you care about and a feeling of safety and happiness fill your chest. Tony hoped that this is what family felt like.
By the time they finished Peter had tomato sauce all over him but was grinning and laughing. Tony took charge of cleaning him while Happy set up the cake with Pepper's help. Soon they all had their phones out and we're singing while Peter stared at the candles in amazement.
"Okay Pete, make a wish!" Happy smiled as Peter tilted his head in a confused like manner.
"You can do it, Cucciolo." Tony encouraged his son and gently blew on the candles so Peter got the point. Peter did, being the little genius he is, and blew on the candles. Of course, he didn't blow them out by himself but Rhodey helped, and together they blew out the candles.

The adults cheered as Peter clapped, giggling at the attention. Peter loved the cake, grabbing handfuls of the chocolate cake. Blue frosting was sneered all over his face, but Tony didn't care. All he cared about was the bright smile on Peter's face.
After cleaning him up for the second time, they decide to open presents. Peter enjoyed ripping the bright colored wrapping paper but would hug the soft stuff animals he found in them. Tony had gotten him an Elmo plushie and Peter loved the thing. He didn't even want to open the other presents afterward.
Tony laughed and gently took away the toy and placed another neatly wrapped gift in front of him. Peter loved all the toys he got and by the end, he fell asleep surrounded by them.

8 148Almost a Good Person
A memory, a memory of a boy who wanted more than pain, of a girl who wanted more than death, and an Isle that should not exist. The Isle of Red is a small, unassuming, quiet place. It is just large enough for a college, a small town, and maybe even a few more unusual sorts of places. Of course, the townsfolk practically know each other as family. Flush-faced regulars can be found toasting just about anything in the Briar's Brew, then, a few streets away, the same haggle of older women stationed themselves on their perch as they did every day from one of the few balconies in Central Square. They fuss away now, spouting the usual gossip as they watch us all from on high. Then there is the College here on the Isle of Red. My college. It has been often described as an unusual place by a good deal of people on the mainland. If they only would visit -why I am sure they'll soon have a change of heart, they may even come to find it a quaint sort of place, odd but in the same way a tattered old quilt can be both odd looking and warm, and especially soft. We teach mostly the same sort of disciplines here, with fantastic and absolutely normal professors.I must conclude that I am quite smitten with myself. The stage is set with a level of perfection that would have astonished me in my youth. They are coming. Derek will follow her. He knows the weight of reality too intimately, but she will be his true north if only for a short time. A beacon in the storm to show him the stunning pastels and brightness the sun may yet refract through his thinner, sharper pieces. Theoline will lead as she always has- well not always, not yet. She holds onto questions feverishly tight, that one. Lights them up inside like a new type of fuel without the slightest worry of being burned. She knows... There is but a certain few who can look at a map and find nothing where I stand but the Atlantic Ocean. And still, there is earth beneath me, a noisy pub down the road from me, and several people clucking conspiratorially on a balcony above me. She knows... that the Isle of Red doesn't belong here. Neither, technically, do I. (Hello! Chapters will be posted regularly on this website and also at Booksie: Almost a Good Person, book by KenjaminButton (booksie.com)Stay tuned for Chapter 3 to be uploaded on 5/28/2022!)

8 109Lost Things
"In this disordered continent, where everyone seeks to be the heroes of their own tales, there are still some rooms for smaller stories to breathe." "Past, present, and future—keep your eyes open, and see where they lead you to." This story follows three housemates’ lives: Carson Calding, Virgil Barion, and John Salore—onto their adventures of finding Carson’s past, Virgil’s present, and John’s future. Despite their clashing backgrounds and circumstances that forced them together, they’re definitely going to find the things they had lost, for sure. Each entire chapter will be updated biweekly. There'll be three smaller parts per each chapter. Note that this story was written to be an interactive one, with polls at the end of each parts deciding on what happens next. Though, the polls for this story won't be available on Royal Road updates. (I also upload this in Arcane Odyssey forum, and it's currently the only place where I open the polls and use the poll results from.)
