《Hex [h.s]》Chapter Twenty-five

I tried to rub my eyes once more, but it was still the blurry scene that greeted me. Fuck this.
"Stop rubbing it, it'll get worse." I heard him hiss somewhere behind me and all I want to do is slap him or maybe kick him.
"Don't tell me what to do!" I yelled, and, like lightning, he has me pinned down on the ground. Even if my sight is blurry, I can see him hoavering me.
I cringed.
"Mmm. Even if you're almost blind, you still manage to snap at me." He whispers, but still, death hangs on every word that comes out of his mouth.
"I guess you have to accept the fate, that I am not giving up." I hissed, and he just cackles.
"Stupid human..."
"You once used to be a human!" I yelled, and I can feel him stiffen. Yup, I hit his spot. Lucy- 1 Harry- O.
"Well? Anything to tell me Harry?" I asked sweetly, too sweetly. He growls and lets me go.
"You should be glad, I am not killing you right now."
"Why Harry? Does it hurt your pride killing an almost-blind girl?" I snap, didn't know he thinks that low of me.
"What? You want me to? I can change my mind, like, right now."
"No!" I yelled, and he snorts. Wait, he snorts?
"Just to let you know sweetheart, that option still stands until now."
I gulped.
I sat up and looked straight ahead, what's the use of turning my head, when all I can see is a blur?
Pathetic me.
"Where are we?" I ask, curious where we are. He never told me, so it's better ask, at least I would know I am not inside a slaughter house or a hanging tree, where he could easily kill me.

"Forest. A few miles away from Silent Mound." He answers. I groan, there is no way I would know which way back.
"A-are you planning to take me home?" I stammered.
Silence.
Fuckity, fuck, f*ck.
"No, you can't do this to me!" I screamed, and he covers my mouth with his hand. He hisses and I try to remove his hand from my mouth.
"Get your filthy, mitts off of me!" I squirmed, but he tightens his grip on my mouth.
"Shut up b*tch. You'll make them run off." He whisper-yells. Wait, run off?
What is he afraid that might 'run off'? Is it someone? A human being? Can they help me?
"What is i-it?" I whisper, soon shutting my mouth when I heard something tweeting. It was, a bird.
Just a bird.
I began to laugh hesterically. And I can feel him glaring at me.
"I can't believe it! A murderer is scared of a bird! What is it going to do Harry? Tell the whole town you're a ghost?!" Corny, I know. But I don't give a shit about it.
That is when I heard nothing, and suddenly something light fell on my shoulder.
I glance to see black. I touched it with my hand.
It's a bird. My fingers met something liquid and I brought it to my nose. Blood.
It's a dead bird.
Harry snatched it and I heard gobbling sounds mixed with bones crushing.
All the while listening, I felt grossed out. But I know, even though I wanna leave him so badly, I better stay with him.
Cause, he is death himself, only he knows when I should die. But right now, I have no power against him. I'm not even sure if I am mentally stable.
I just burned down my own house for fuck's sake!
I sigh, well, day one. Day one with death. Is soon going to be over.

The Legion of Nothing
Nick Klein is your average high school geek--if you can still count as average when your grandfather is a retired superhero, and you've been trained in the martial arts by his friend, a mysterious, immortal mercenary. After his grandfather dies, Nick inherits the last version of the Rocket suit, powered armor that allows him to shrug off bullets, smash through walls, and manipulate sound. Along with it comes the base of his grandfather's superhero team including the team's jet and trophies from forty years of fighting criminals and aliens. Together, Nick and his friends, descendants of his grandfather's teammates, attempt to bring back a superhero team that was originally formed during World War 2. Along the way they'll face the normal problems of high school (bullies, homework, and dating), and the less normal problems like supervillians and mysteries leftover from their grandparents' past. As a story, it uses the conventions of all eras of comics from the 1940s on, ranging from serious to silly. If you're hoping for a grim and gritty story, this isn't it. The Legion of Nothing first debuted on my website legionofnothing.com in 2007. In that period it's updated more than 900 times, is still running, and has had millions of pageviews. The first two years have been released as an ebook, receiving good reviews on Amazon and Goodreads. I hope you'll enjoy it, and that you'll review it and comment.
