yongsun gripped the counter in frustration. she quietly groaned and called out for byulyi. "byul, help me," the girl groaned once more and looked at the younger. "say please," byul teased. the older huffed out.
a deep shade of red painted solar's cheeks. she really didn't like asking for things that already should be known.
"please, help me bake the cake," the girl placed her hands onto her head. "i thought you were an amazing chef," pink spread onto yongsun's ears. "maybe i exaggerated a little," an adorable laugh came from byul causing butterflies in yongsun's stomach to flutter.
"fine. you should be grateful i somewhat know how to bake,"
—
yongsun frowned at the end result. "we tried," byul patted the girl's head. "it looks better than it tastes," yongsun smiled happily, admiring the pretty designs on the cake. "who should we give this disgusting cake to?" byul thought for a moment.
"doesn't the teacher you hate, like vanilla cake?" yong's lips curved into a sly smile. "you're right! and she can't say it's disgusting because it'd be rude, right?," the older placed the cake down and put it inside the decorative box.
"thank god i bought this cute box and ribbon. we should probably buy a cake for your birthday instead of baking it," yong cutely tied the ends of the ribbon together to create a pretty tie (i honestly have no idea how to describe it).
byul looked up at the kitchen counter. "i'm not cleaning this up," a sudden black face replaced the olders happy one. "wait, babe, you can't leave me to clean all this up," a nervous chuckle left yong's lips. "it wasn't my idea to bake a cake," byul crossed her arms and looked at the kitchen.

it really was a mess.
byul knew yongsun—being yongsun—would half-heartedly do the chore and end up leaving the kitchen in bad condition. a small huff came out of byul. "whatever," byul slumped and handed the girl a mop.
"i'll wash the countertops," the younger pointed to herself. "you wash the floor," a large smile made its way to yong's face. in excitement, yong threw herself onto byul, hugging the latter. byul chuckled and pointed towards the floor.
a small nod came from the older and she began mopping the floors.
—
the kitchen was finally clean and sparkling. the before and after had a very big difference.
byul's phone rang. "hey, jinnie!" byul smiled. a small voice came from the phone and byul's smile dropped almost instantly. "yeah i'll be over in a five. don't do anything stupid," yong looked at the younger with a small head tilt.
"what's going on?" yong watched as the younger quickly got her things together. "apparently, hyejin hasn't been able to sleep for all night and she's been crying," yong's eyes widened. "why?" the girl placed the mop near the wall so it wouldn't fall down.
"i have no idea," yong pulled her apron off and rubbed the extra flour on her skin off. "i'm coming with you," byul turned towards the older. "you can't. stay here and put the cleaning supplies away, alright?" yong's ears turned red in anger. "no byul. i have home remedies that could help her sleep a little better," the girl huffed and followed the younger out of the house.
the car ride toward hyejin's house was quiet. it was like the worry for hyejin replaced any other tension they've had.
when the two got there, hyejin was sitting in her room. the girl was staring at her wall like it was some sort've entertainment. "um, hyejin?" the girl jumped at the sudden voice. "oh, hey guys," hyejin's tired voice called out to them.

"so, why can't you sleep. is something bothering you?" the two sat on hyejin's bed. "it's wheein. she—she knows about my feelings right?" byul nodded. "but, she said that she isn't so sure about her own right now. that's fine and all, but it's been almost a month since then," the girl placed her head in her hands.
"i don't know how to feel," hyejin huffed and laid down on the bed. "i'd tell you to wait it out, but it might just hurt you." yong chuckled. "wheein and i had a talk not to long ago," yong laid down with hyejin. "don't overthink things. if wheein likes you back, she'll tell you. if she doesn't," yong hesitated.
"then i'll accept it and move on," hyejin finished the girl's dreadful sentence. "i know it's hard," byul looked down into yong's eyes. "but the end result really is amazing," hyejin groaned. "but it's different. you guys knew each other, you've been friends your whole lives. wheein and i—we've only known each other for a year,"
"and that is totally fine, jinnie," yong comforted the younger. hyejin began thinking how she didn't deserve her best friends.
"how about we watch a movie and chill," yong smiled at byul's words.
"that sounds amazing,"

The Twelve
In a world marred by the supernatural, Japan suffers from its own fair share of evil and demonic disasters, with generations of shamans known as Onmyoji protecting their homeland from these forces of evil. Capable of wielding magic and using spirits of their own, these shamans were not only skilled in battle, but also divination. However, they were unable to correctly predict Japan's loss in World War Two, and suffered the punishments that followed. Persecuted and torn apart by infighting, the Onmyoji reunited under the banner of the Tsuchimikado clan, descendants of Abe no Seimei, one of the greatest Onmyoji to ever live. The Onmyoji began to rebuild and to regrow. Ren is the sole heir to the Tsuchimikado family, but has been unable to practice Onmyodo ever since his birth, even though he possesses the greatest ability in the family. But when disaster befalls his family, Ren has nobody to turn to, and no idea how to use his powers. As he journeys to escape the same fate his family faced and attempts to learn how to use his powers, there is only one question on his mind; as the Tsuchimikado heir, how can he save the Onmyoji... from themselves? ---------------------------------------------- note from author: I'm writing this based loosely on the very real theories of Onmyodo, and so my writing may not be a truthful or accurate depiction of Onmyodo or other related areas, such as religion, for instance. That is why, while depicted in the real world, events that happen may seem unrealistic and it may be easier to imagine it as a parallel universe that is the same as ours, but with slight differences so that my possible errors will be easier to overlook. Sorry, and thanks!
