《Green Ham and Eggs [Angry Birds fanfic]》Chapter 4. The Grand Exit

Red sat back beside his unfinished home. He already lost hope in his home and took a break from fixing it, just sketching random things into the sand.
"You a really good artist, maybe you could draw me something sometime?"
A voice asked from behind Red. He turned around and saw Leonard towering over him, still with that innocent smile. Red quickly erased his sketch and stood up in front of Leonard.
"I don't know what you're thinking in that little head of yours but you and i aren't friends, and i don't want anything to do with you, i know you are up to something".
Red said firmly, glaring into Leonards eyes which slowly began to change to a disappointed look.
"I just thought i could help you out, ya know."
"How? by fixing my house?!"
Red exclaimed, pointing at his still wrecked house.
"Oh that? That'll take way too long to rebuild."
Leonard looked over again seeing all the peices on the ground then the little circle made by Red.
"Well you've been here long, I'm sure you have the time."
"Well i have a spare room, up on my ship, you could just use that instead."
Leonard offered, gesturing over to his ship but Red just laughed pathetically.
"In your ship? Ha in your dreams i ain't stepping one foot in that ship."
Red denied as he crossed his arms, making an imprint in the sand as Leonard just smirked.
"You don't have to."
Leonard simply said, as Red looked back in confusion before suddenly Leonard inched closer and lifted Red off from the ground and rested over Leonards shoulder,
"Hey! Put me down right now!"
Red demanded, waving his legs around.
"You said you didn't want to step one foot into my ship so I'll have to carry you in."
"I meant i didn't want to be in your ship, I'm perfectly fine out here!"
"Too late, i don't want you freezing to death outside my ship."
Red sighed a deep breath as Leonard walked up his mechanic stairs and onto his ship where he passed a couple doors before stopping. He placed Red down and opened the door. Revealing a small but comfortable room with a bed and a small desk and chair. Red slowly walked inside, still skeptical whether to trust him or not. He placed his hand on the bed and felt the silky soft covers and bounciness of the bed. Red finally sat down and fell back onto the soft bed and almost instant fell asleep. Leonard smiled in satisfaction as he quietly closed the door, then softly locked it from the outside, walking off towards a smaller guy that had been patiently waiting behind him.
"Is everything here now?"
"Yes sire."
The same little guy responded, saluting Leonard.
"Good."
Leonard responded, walking back outside the ship, leaving Red inside to sleep comfortably. Chuck had felt guilty watching Red storm off after the argument between him and the judge and had decided to go check up Red to see if he was okay, but ran into some leaves as he watched Leonard calmly walk over to him.

Eventually watching Leonard take Red onto his boat and come back out few minutes after. Chuck hesitated whether he should tell the others or not as it seemed like Chuck and Bomb were the only ones that actually cared about him. Chuck rushed back to the group and closely stood beside Bomb glancing around as he rushed to think of what to say.
"Hey Chuck are you okay?"
Bomb asked, noticing Chucks erratic behaviour. Chuck tried to explain what he just saw but with all the stuttering and his speed of speech, Bomb couldn't really understand.
"Hold on, slow down buddy, breathe in."
Bomb said, resting his hands on Chucks shoulders as he took a deep breath in.
"Breathe out."
Bomb finished, motioning with one hand a breathing motion and Chuck followed, breathing out and finally calming down.
"Now what did you want to tell me?"
Bomb asked resting his hands on his hips. Chucks eyes then widened as he remembered what he had saw.
"I think Red got kidnapped!"
Chuck exclaimed as Bomb just looked at him shocked and confused.
"Kidnapped? But how and who kidnapped him?!"
Bomb queried starting to panic as well.
"I think Leonard did?"
Chuck whispered, his voice getting softer.
"Leonard? I know Red was a bit mean to him but i don't think Leonard would actually try and kidnap him."
Bomb suddenly had back a calm expression, blowing off Chucks allegations.
"No i saw it with my own eyes! Leonard took Red onto his boat!"
Chuck kept trying, he felt like he knew what he saw but now even he was questioning whether he saw something completely different.
"Leonard might of just wanted to be nice since his home was destroyed."
Chuck just sighed and just let it go, believing that Leonard was just trying to help. Chuck followed Bomb back to the group who were now decorating broken egg shells that were saved from last year.
Leonard also seemed to be sitting there now too, and even though Leonard was just harmlessly painting an egg shell to, smiling as he chatted with Matilda. He just couldn't shake the feeling that Leonard wasn't good news.
"Yeah so these are from last years hatch season. When all the cute little birds hatch, we collect their old homes and we basically recycle them to make something beautiful."
Matilda could be heard, happily informing Leonard, who was listening super intently, as though it was anything of interest to him. Chuck and Bomb sat near them with Bomb happily joining the conversation as Chuck sat there uncomfortably grabbing a lonely shell and thought of what to do with it.
"Oh Chuck where were you before? You were gone for quite a while?"
Matilda questioned, noticing Chucks quiet appearance. Chuck quickly froze trying to think of an excuse fast.
"Uum, uuuuh... i was just um taking a walk on the beach!"
Chuck loudly exclaimed, smiling awkwardly.
"Oh on this side of the beach?"-
"No! The um... other side, wanting a different view ya know."

Chuck quickly interrupted, fiddling with his fingers.
"Oh, well that sounds lovely Chuck."
Matilda eventually added, going back to painting her egg shell. Afterwards so did Bomb but as Chuck glanced over at Leonard, he wasn't. In fact, he was looking straight at Chuck. With the kind of look that knows. Chuck froze stiff, keeping the direct eye contact with Leonard before snapping out and facing towards his own peice of an egg shell and from the very edge of Chucks view, he could see Leonard also facing away from him and back at the egg.
"Welp i better get going, it's getting a bit late and my friend has been really tired lately, so I'll catch you all another time."
Leonard quickly started, neatly placing his egg shell aside as he stood up and dusted himself off. Matilda quickly just did a simple wave as Leonard suddenly left. Chuck out of curiosity glanced over at his egg and saw that he had painted something red with two dots on it. He wasn't exactly a good artist so it was hard to figure out what it was but Chuck was quick to assume that he was trying to paint Red possibly, making Chuck become more suspicious of him.
"Chuck why don't you and i head to the nearby happiness museum? Heard that they putting on a show there!"
Bomb asked ecstatic, wrapping an arm around Chuck.
"Uum i am alright... i have plans..."
Chuck tried to say, holding back the urge to agree.
"There'll be Hor d'oeuvre there."
Bomb added, immediately peaking Chucks interest.
"Change of plans, I'm coming then!"
It was his weakness, he couldn't fight his urges and ran to the museum with Bomb. As everyone was enjoying the rest of their evenings, Leonard met up with a familiar fellow out of sight of most birds.
"You ready Ross?"
Leonard asked, hiding in the shadows. Ross nodded hiss head as he adjusted a large unfamiliar device on his shoulders.
"Good, take as many as you possibly can and then come back, without anyone spotting you, in 30 minutes we shall leave."
"Yes sire."
The smaller guy agreed, walking ahead of Leonard, jumping through bushes and onto trees where small nests laid with smaller eggs comfortably rested inside. Ross grabbed the device and aimed it towards the eggs, making a sucking noise as the eggs were lifted into the tube and into another compartment. Then swiftly climbed off the tree and continued to the next. Leonard calmly walked through the village, looking around to ensure no one saw him stealing the eggs. No one was in sight and Leonard smiled with satisfaction that his plan was working. Until he could a familiar cheery voice, come from around the corner.
"I'll catch up with you there."
Then suddenly a light yellow jersey popped into view, Leonard quickly recognised who they were and jumped behind a tree.
"Hello?"
Chuck asked as he rounded the corner of a building and face a pair of trees that darkened the surrounding area. Chucks gut kept telling him to turn around and leave but another part of him was telling him to go forward.
Chuck stepped closer and watched intently into the woods, feeling like he was staring right at a pair of eyes. Chuck didn't even realised he was stepping closer until he heard a strange noise coming from the side of him. Chuck jolted his head to the side and heard it come from one of the trees.
He could swear he could see something moving up there but before he could get closer there, something grabbed onto his wrist, and pulled him back, twisting his hand behind his back and placing a hand over his mouth, unable to scream. Chuck tried to look at the person stopping him from screaming but their grip held him in place.
"If you make one little peep about this, I'll make sure you can't run as fast as you can."
The person threatened and with only their voice, Chuck recognised that it was Leonard. Chuck tried to break free but Leonard was much stronger than he was.
"You don't say a word and i will let you go, do we have a deal?"
Leonard bargained, leaning closer towards Chucks ear. Chuck didn't really think through his answer and just nodded his head as much as he could. Leonard finally released him, pushing him away as Chuck stood back up, looking back at the still calm Leonard.
"Run. Run as fast as you can away from here."
Leonard whispered, glaring right at Chuck as he ran off as fast as he could like Leonard instructed, only this time he didn't run far but instead to Bomb who was nearby at the museum. Leonard stood still for a moment until the smaller boy dropped down now with a few extra little eggs.
"He won't stay quiet for long, be fast."
Leonard ordered, quickly disappearing out of a sight as he rushed even faster around the tree tops. Bomb looked up and casually smiled at the exhausted an terrified Chuck, not aware of the situation.
"Oh! hey Chuck, you ready for the museum now?"
"Leonard IS bad news!"
Chuck quickly shouted, jumping back and forth, wanting to speed off and do something. Bombs sweet smile disappeared, believing Chuck was being paranoid again.
"Chuck, you need to calm down"-
"No! He is! He randomly was behind a tree, probably spying on me! And then he grabbed me and told me not to tell anyone! Doesn't that sound suspicious?!"
Chuck exploded, infuriated with Bombs lack of trust. Bombs eyes widened as he tried to think of a perfectly reasonable explanation for that.
"Yeah that doesn't sound good at all..."
"Which means Red needs us!"
Chuck shouted, about to just speed off. Bomb finally put on a serious face, nodding.
"Lets go rescue him."
Bomb added as Chuck ran off with Bomb behind.

It’s a comparably low fantasy for a website like this but hope some of you still enjoy it.

The Eternal Vigil
The year is 2220, a time when governments and nation-states are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Instead, all prominent parts of human society are now organizing around the commands of three great Artificial Intelligences, owned and operated by the world's largest corporation. World peace has been achieved, and the very word 'politics' has disappeared from people's lips. Religion has largely disappeared, replaced in some parts by worshipping of the great AIs, but mostly substituted by a devotion to material goods and faith in the market. There is now a general consensus that the best form of government has been found. No, it is not democracy, nor is it autocracy or oligarchy. Instead, it is technocracy - rule by the learned, the intelligent, and the skilled. And who are more learned, intelligent, and skilled than the great AIs? Exactly, no one. The AIs will correct some market failures once in a while, but shall otherwise let the market be free. After all, the freer the market, the freer the people. Some may question how society advanced to this stage, but that is all they will do - question. Because they will not find answers, for history is no longer taught anywhere. After all, it is not a practical subject. One cannot get a decently paying job with a history degree. Society doesn't have any time for people to idly ponder about the past. No, this is a practical society of practical people: engineers, doctors, lawyers, developers, managers, bankers, soldiers, and the such. My name is Aiden Scivit and I used to be one such practical man: minding my own business, doing my job, with the faith that hard work will always be rewarded by the market...and that politics and philosophy were things thought of by idly people who leech off society. But this all changed, and here is my story, my history. Just because the stories of ages long past have been erased, does not mean that a brand new beginning cannot be created. The story is already finished but I still need to do some editing so a chapter should be released each day for a month. It is a bit political, as you can probably tell by the introduction, so there is that (it will low-key read like a philosophy dump 10% of the time, so really it's like Atlas Shrugged but liberal and worse lol). Also, I actually wrote this in grade 10 as part of my MYP Personal Project, and recently touched up on it for online publication. Finally, if you find the writing style passable and are interested in my other works, check out the one in the link below. It is a fantasy set in the Ancient Greek world, and is completed and uploaded in full: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/35099/the-oresteia-modernized
