《The Bookstore》Chapter 22

It's been a while since Izuku had last seen his mother.
Maybe it's because he's too busy with college.
But thinking about his mom makes him sad to remember the day that he came back home from school with dried blood clinging to the sides of his face.
He remembered being brought to the doctors and the doctor wrote down that his hearing will probably be gone forever.
Because of the superhuman society they live in and the advanced technology that has been developed over the years, Izuku and his mother were told that he could get hearing aids that could help him process sounds.
Izuku's heart broke when the doctors wrote down the price of the hearing aids down on the paper.
He broke down and started crying.
Izuku knew that his mother didn't have the money, he knew that Inko could barely put food on the table every night.
Pulling his mother out of the room, he begged her not to spend all this money on the hearing aids.
Even if he probably sounded really weird, Izuku wouldn't know, he couldnt fucking hear, he cried and blubbered and hoped that his mother would listen.
In the end he successfully convinced her and received a head nod and a single tear falling down his mother's face.
He later wrote down that he was going to make the money on his own and that she didn't need to worry about it.
The next morning Izuku watched as his mother stumbled into the kitchen with red, puffy eyes as if she had been crying all night.
The sight broke his heart again knowing that his mother was crying again because he couldn't protect himself.
"Hey Izuku," A familiar voice said, Izuku looked up to see Akio opening the door with his books in his hands. "Why are you back so early?"

He moved closer to see Izuku sitting at the counter, a cup of tea between his hands, and a single tear falling down his face.
"Hey, hey, Izuku…" Akio says dropping the books onto the counter and rushing over to the silent man. "Why are you crying?"
Izuku brought his hand up to his left cheek.
This snapped him back into reality, where he quickly wiped away the tear.
Had he really been that deep in thought?
Thinking back to something that happened over 5 years ago.
"I was just thinking of something," Izuku said after a while.
"That must have been a sad thought since it made you cry," Akio says, taking a seat next to Izuku.
"Oh um," Izuku says looking down at the paper Camie had signed earlier.
"I got you this," he says pushing the paper towards Akio, on it there was a signature, it said "Camie" with red lipstick where she kissed the paper.
Izuku smiled, thinking back to the girl and how she deserved the world.
"What's this?" Akio asks, holding up the paper, it took him a second until he finally got his head wrapped around what it was. "HOLY SHIT, BRO YOU GOT ME CAMIE'S AUTOGRAPH?"
Izuku sighed, "Yeah, I ran into her earlier and asked if she could give me an autograph."
"And you got this just for me?" Akio's eyes sparkled.
"Well it ain't for me that's for sure," Izuku snickers.
"Thanks so much," he cries, throwing his arms around Izuku.
"You really remind me so much of Middle school me," he says, thinking back to the boxes of All Might and other superhero merch he still has at his mom's house.

"What do you mean?"
"God when I was a kid, I was just as obsessed with superheroes as you are," Izuku says scoffing.
"Wait… You? Obsessed with superheroes?" Akio asks with his blown open and his mouth hanging down.
"Pfft, yeah, I was a kid at one point. I collected almost every All Might figurine to manufacture," Izuku proudly states.
Great this has gotten Izuku all hyped up now, he couldn't just not show Akio his collection now.
"Wait here, I'll be back in like an hour," Izuku says running to the door.
Yeah, Izuku was still a little kid, he forgot how much he used to drone on and on to his mother about All Might.
She must have gotten tired of it at one point but he could never tell.
Izuku remembered this limited edition Crimson Riot figuring he won when he was younger and immediately thought of Kirishima.
He hasn't seen or talked to him in a while, maybe this could be an excuse to meet up with him.
He sent a quick "Could we meet up at my dorm in about an hour?"
A buzz went off in his pocket and he pulled out his phone to reveal Kirishima's responses.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Ding ding
"Oh! Hello Izuku!" His mother cries holding out her arms.
"Hi mom," he says.
"Wait? You're talking?" She asked confused but shortly noticed the hearing aid behind his ear.
"Yep, I finally saved up enough money to buy them!" Izuku beamed.
"Aw, Izuku, my baby, I'm so proud of you," Inko says grabbing him and pulling him into a hug.
"Well it's not that hard, all I do is put books away all day and watch brats put their sticky fingers all over the manga," Izuku huffs.
"Oh well, I'm still proud of you no matter what," Inko says. "Now what brings you here today? You haven't visited since New Years."
"Oh well…"
"Well what?"
"I came to see if you still have all my All Might stuff," Izuku says, scratching the back of his neck.
"Oh yes! I still have it, it's underneath my bed. Give me a second I'm gonna go grab it," Inko says, stumbling back into the house and to get the box.
When she came back Izuku guided her back into the house and onto the couch, "It's been a while since we've had a chat."
Izuku looks down at his phone, "And the traffic isn't shitty so we've got 30 minutes."
Inko gave him a weak smile, "I would love to chat."
~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hey Bakugou, you wanna hang out with Izuku and I today?" Kirishima asks when Kirishima entered the room after a long day of annoying teenage girls and no villains to fight.
His day only got worse when those words came out of Kirishima's mouth.
Jealousy clawed at his skin as he realized that Izuku had run away from him earlier and made the excuse that he was "sick" and now he wants to hang out with Kirishima.
"Sure," Katsuki finally said after a while, maybe he could finally get to talk to him.
