Isn't it strange that you used to know me?

All the highs and lows and in-betweens

And now you see me and just say, "Hey"

"Whoever the bottle points to, you are permitted to kiss." Josie drawled slowly, looking around at the faces of teenagers who looked up to her with different expressions about the game to come. Eagerness, curiosity, dread, fear. Amelia felt a mix of feelings. She wanted to know how a kiss would feel like, if it was really as romantic as it was described in novels and poems. But it was always made clear it was to be shared with someone you had a deep connection with. And Amelia's person was miles away from her. "It needs to be boy, girl, boy girl."

"Where does that leave Cole?" Cole rolled his eyes at Billy as his friends snickered, as Josie completely ignored him. Amelia narrowed her eyes and scoffed. "Shut it, Billy."

"Jane, go and sit next to your dumb brother." Josie started to rearrange the girls positions, and Amelia was now sat between Billy and her brother, Isaac. Amelia sighed as Josie asked who wanted to go first, watching as her brother had straightened his posture, sending his famous charming smile to everyone.

Everyone had immediately loved Isaac, for his charming and daring personality. And for one, Amelia was over the moon with that. She thought, perhaps that would convince her brother to stay. He may be two years older than the rest, but he still had that heart of a child. But Amelia knew her brother was a ladies man, and she didn't want him taking interest in any of her friends, because she knew what would happen; they would have their hearts broken. And then they wouldn't speak to Amelia because she "reminded them" of her brother.

Diana was first to go, spinning the bottle as it slowly turned around and landed on Moody, who seemed quite happy as Diana just simply went along with it. The kiss was short and sweet, but happiness sprouted from it as the kids stared at it amazed and clapped and cheered when it was over, as Diana went back to her place bashfully. Amelia watched as Josie leaned over and whispered something in Isaac's ear. Well, at least if he broke Josie's heart she wouldn't speak to her anymore.

And then it was Anne's turn. She leaned over, hand hovering above the bottle as Billy pulled away. "No way. There's no way I'm kissing her. Ugly orphan." Silence overcame the group as Anne's eyes fixated on the bottle, hand trembling as she tried to get a grip of herself, eyes unfocused. "What are you afraid of?" Mocked Josie, noticing her frozen state. "Last I recall, you had a lot of knowledge on intimate relationships." Isaac pinched his dark eyebrows together, pushing Josie's hand away from his arm as he stared worriedly at the red-head.

Her lips trembled as Josie continued mocking, Billy snickering as her blue eyes looked up, glaring at Josie. "Have you ever been kissed...Anne?"

"Ye...No." Anne stuttered, before pulling her hand away and picking up her stuff, as Josie raised an eyebrow, a mocking smirk settled on her face. Tears burned at the back of her eyes as Amelia shifted to stand up, thinking of going after her before the red-head could leave. "You know, that ugly smirk doesn't suit you at all."

Amelia gaped as her brother snapped, standing up after Anne, who stared at him in shock and awe, and followed her suit. Josie's smile was wiped off as she stared angrily behind the two, as Isaac opened the door for Anne and the two headed out, Anne storming as Isaac tried to follow. Diana and Amelia stared at each other, as Billy was the only one left chuckling. The air was tense now, as people gathered their stuff and started heading home.

And for when she got home, a surprise was awaiting her.

Amelia sat in between Diana and Anne, awaiting for the class to start as her empty eyes stared at the letter in her hands. A few tears had been shed in secret, dry tear stains splashed upon, as her friend's chatter flew past her ears, not really listening as she mulled over the letter. Not returning to Avonlea indefinitely. Amelia could sense he was happy. And she was happy for him. But her heart throbbed as the thought of never seeing him again crossed her mind once again.

"You need to write him back." Said Diana, as Anne nodded enthusiastically next to her. Amelia's blue eyes met Diana's, with doubt written all over them. "I could help you." Added Anne. "We could convince him to come back." Amelia didn't answer for a second, before shaking her head. "He's obviously happy. I don't want to ruin that." Diana bit her lip frightfully. "I guess it worked out for the best."

Amelia's heart dropped at the thought. "And if I were to write to him again, it would be to congratulate him on his success." She paused, talking slowly before continuing. "And to tell him that there's no A in indefinitely." Diana's eyes widened in realisation as she tapped Amelia's arm excitedly. "Maybe he did that with a purpose. To become pen pals." Amelia smiled softly, shaking her head.

"If he's to never come back, then I guess I need to move on. There's no point in me pondering over him." Amelia said, sounding like she was trying to convince herself more than anyone else. Diana looked backwards at the background laughter and giggles. "Well, in that case, we should give it to Ruby."

Amelia's eyes widened as she pulled the letter close to herself. "What? Why?" Diana smiled knowingly, trapping Amelia. "Former to cry over." Amelia bit her lip as she looked down at it fearfully, not wanting to say goodbye to the last letter she would ever receive from Gilbert. Before she could answer, it was snatched out of her hands, as she stood up alarmed. "Ooh, what's this?"

Amelia stormed towards Billy, trying to reach up to get it. "Dear Amelia Covey, it's splendid to hear from you..." he mocked, as Amelia tried to grab it from his reach. "Give it back Billy." Another hand grabbed it from Billy as he turned around to face Isaac. Billy backed away from Isaac's tall frame, as he checked the letter once over and handed it back to his sister. "Love letter?" He mocked, not noticing Amelia's red cheeks as he grinned at Anne, who smiled bashfully back. "Anne."

She nodded back, muttering a shy hello. "Hey, Isaac."

Diana and Amelia looked between themselves as Amelia frowned, not liking where that was going.
