"He is nice," Taehyung murmured softly staring his own skin which was now smooth again without any scar on it and couldn't but smile remembering last night.

"Who's nice?" Jimin asked hearing his best friend that kind of caught him off guard. He was sure he didn't say it that loud but this sneaky Jimin, he can't hide anything from him. Never.

Taehyung didn't reply to that verbally as he held his hand up and Jimin was baffled on what he was trying to say. But after about some seconds, he noticed that scar was not there.

"Hey, your scar—" the shorter male excitedly said and rushed to sit beside his best friend slash soulmate and grabbed his wrist tightly inspecting the place from close, "You finally did it. I am proud of you, baby."

With that, he ruffled the other's smooth brown hair who shook his head no, "Well I tried Minie, but actually it was Jeongguk who did it for me."

"When, how, where?" the wh-words were shot one after another from Jimin's mouth as he was surprised on this event.

"Last night, he called and said that he will teach me that spell and then he did but y'know somehow I couldn't do it so he did it for me."

"Without any conditions?"

"Yeah," Taehyung replied that shocked the other, "Please, did the sun rise in the north today?"

"Well, he isn't that bad," the brunet smiled, getting up and Jimin just wriggled his brows at him, "Now y'all are on late night call terms and what's coming in future more huh?"

"What more? What do you mean?" he obviously knew what the other meant to say but nah Jeon Jeongguk as something more than being friends? What a joke.

"Oh please, you know what I mean. I meant that—" Jimin said with a playful smirk whispering the next part, "Boyfriends."

"Whatever you thinking, it's impossible and I am still doubtful about him like itsy bitsy bit okay;" Taehyung said which was actually true, he was still gonna be skeptical about this.

Well, in all honesty, time is all they needed for actually trusting each other.

The lunch hours came faster than usual, maybe because none of them were feeling boring as the classes were mostly cancelled because of their board meetings, so they had enough time to gossip and waste.

"Ugh, I wish the mage doesn't get better before our finals so that they can get cancelled," Taehyung heard someone say and couldn't just believe his ears at how disgusting that opinion was.

"What the fuck?" Jimin who heard as well squinted at the owner of that voice and showed him a middle finger even though he didn't see it.

"I hate people, I swear, they are pathetic!" Jimin said out loud for everyone to hear and Taehyung giggled. The one it was meant for turned around but then again looked forward as he was dumbfounded.

"So, what's up with Jeongguk? In the class, he was trying to sit beside you like bitch doesn't he know it's illegal when I am here?" the cotton candy haired boy asked remembering how awkward the other was getting as he tried his best to say that he wanted to sit beside Taehyung but horribly failed.

"He is trying too hard to be honest," Taehyung faked a cry and laughed afterwards, "He just thinks that I think it's all a prank and that's why I am still pushing him away or something that sort."

"Well, was he giving us clues because I still don't trust him that much?" Jimin asked and Taehyung raised his brows throwing his arm over his best friend's shoulders as they walked in the hall.

"Please, if that happens, I will probably never forgive him. He is doomed then." Taehyung said what he felt, "But I am actually just one step away from believing him, like the drastic change is surely surprising but he is trying a lot."

"Genuinely, if this mess between y'all sorts and can get better, it's good right? After all, fighting can be so exhausting. Plus, the privileges we will get being the mage's son's friends damn—" Jimin already started dreaming of extra food and extra grades. Well more precisely, the first one.

"Please, what Jimin?" he laughed.

"Kidding!"

Both of them kept walking and saw Jeongguk plus his friends sitting at their usual spot. The space beside Jeongguk was vacant and his eyes were glued on Taehyung who got the hint that he wanted to sit beside him.

"For real, he is behaving like a six year old getting his first best friend," Jimin commented seeing that cringy smile on the blond's lips.

"Indeed," Taehyung laughed agreeing but also was now confused on if he should go and sit beside him or sit somewhere else.

"Go sit with him for today. Don't wanna see a grown up arse crying because his new friend didn't sit with him," Jimin said parting ways as he got to the other side of the table and joined Namjoon and others.

Taehyung with mixed feelings went and sat beside the blond who finally got what he wanted. Seeing his facial expression, anyone would say that he felt like he just accomplished something.

"So, Jeon Jeongguk. What's up with this loser behaviour? Like if you want to sit with my best friend, just say it and please are you a six year old?" Jimin confronted, laughing that made the one sitting in front look down before he sent him a glare.

"There's nothing like that, I just—"

"Yeah got it whatever." Jimin laughed it off while the ones beside him just bursted into laughter.

"Please, he just snatched the words out of my mouth. Thanks Jimin, I will ever grateful. I was like what the hell is he doing? He is acting like a stupid teenage girl who had a crush on Taehyung." Namjoon said throwing his arm over the shorter male who shrugged and wanted to slap the other but didn't.

He was busy astonished at how small he looks sitting beside him.

"Please Namjoon, why are you so fucking tall? The fuck?"

"It's mah genes baby boy, but you're very cute so don't be jealous," he said smiling so widely that his dimples popped up and Jimin just stared at him in awe, "But you're cute too, I mean not as much as me but still you are, giant."

"Okay so I never made friends after y'all so yeah it's just challenging because I am just so lost on how to prove myself—" Jeongguk was interrupted by the one sitting beside him who finally said something after hearing all of their conversations.

"Jeongguk, you don't have to prove anything. If you're genuine your actions will show. You trying to sit with me, start up conversations—" he paused for a moment as he smiled, "Those are obviously efforts and I appreciate it but just don't force it okay?"

"Please you both cringy, bye."

Jackson said and rolled his eyes at the two sitting in front.

The food was served as soon as all the professors and students were present in the hall. Today it was chicken sandwiches, nuggets and salads along with a glass of fresh grape juice.

As they were eating, Jeongguk noticed how Taehyung wasn't wearing full sleeves today and his hands were exposed because of that half sleeved t-shirt and now that his cloak was hanging down the chair board, he could have a nice view of them.

They weren't very thin, nor very thick, very much perfect if you ask him, his arms,— he would love to see some small tattoos here and there. They will suit him.

"You dad called my mom today—" Jeongguk suddenly remembered his mom talking to him today morning when he went to visit his dad.

"What did he say?" Taehyung stopped eating and asked. His voice was sharp and laced with the mix of some unknown type of emotions.

Jimin and him shared an eye contact before the cotton candy haired boy took another bite of his sandwich.

Taehyung had been ignoring his calls saying he is busy with studies and stuff because he didn't want to answer how he helped Jeongguk and his family.

And now if he found out that they actually started being friends and are finally getting on good terms forgetting about being the mage, he can't imagine how things will take a turn.

"Nothing, just how dad was and all, I was surprised that he called because I know how much he hates us." Jeongguk knew it very well and he also knew that Taehyung was aware of it as well so there's nothing to hide.

"He does hate you, no lies." Taehyung agreed with a mouthful of food before taking a deep breath in.

He was sure, his father won't be happy with this and in no way, he will try his best to nullify this truce.

"Well, he won't hate me if we get on good terms, right?" Jeongguk asked nudging the other with his elbow.

"Not really. He will still. Probably even more. Then he won't only hate you, he will turn my life hell." Taehyung informed.

"You talking as if he didn't already?" Jimin added, a scoff coming just after.

"So what will it take?"

"He won't stop until I become the mage;" the brunet said what the truth was but Jeongguk didn't know why he had this weird feeling about this. He forgot about this little competitions between them.

Totally.

But the fact that Taehyung still thought about it and still was thinking about how to defeat him when the case should be they will try their best and let fate decide it for them, made Jeongguk think that maybe it will always be one sided, this whole friendship attempts.

One sided efforts will surely take them nowhere.
