《WANDS AND SPELLS | VKOOK ✓》22 | just a competition

Taehyung and Jimin walked out of the building and were now approaching Jeongguk and his friends who were under the sun, over the white grass practicing spells with each each other.

It was the blond boy who told him to join after class as it would be fun plus a great practice and Taehyung already loved the idea.

"Hey, Jeongguk." Taehyung called getting closer grabbing all the attention on him now.

"Hello, so today while we chat, we will have this friendly practice fights. Like if I cast a spell, you have to think of another to turn it down, got it? Just like how we are taught in class." Jeongguk explained and Taehyung nodded, "Yes, okay. Let's do this."

"Taehyung, come on. Show me what you made of hottie," Jeongguk laughed, getting closer to the other and grabbed his wand tightly.

The brunet nodded and excitedly joined the game.

"Just basic spells okay? No dangerous ones." Jeongguk warned and the other nodded.

"Tae, you can do it!" Jimin cheered bending down and sitting on the ground, his palms slowly touching the grass as he pressed them under and anticipated this game to begin.

"Are you ready?"

"Hell yeah, I am so ready!"

"You first," Taehyung said and moved his body a little lower while his eyes were on Jeongguk, ears sharp as he was waiting for him to cast a spell.

"Ascendo!" Jeongguk pointed the wand at one small pebble and was about to throw it at Taehyung but of course not in a way that he can get hurt and it was too small to even do something so it was safe.

To turn it down, Taehyung got his wand and quickly pointed it at the floating pebble and cast his one, "Descendo!" that caused it to fall back on the ground.

"Gotcha, Jeon!"

"Now my turn," Taehyung informed getting ready as he already had a spell inside his mind. His beautiful eyes stared down at the other's onyx as a small smile appeared at the corner of his lips, "Ignito attius!"

With that a small fire ball showed up out of the thin air and Taehyung moved his wand it was pushed forward at Jeongguk who had to counter attack.

"Aquas attius!"

And there he created a small ball of water that attacked the fire and with that clash both of them disappeared.

"Ah shit!" Taehyung sighed when he turned down his spell and something in him wanted to try a stronger spell. He was a master at spells and he wanted to show his talent and was now eagerly waiting for his next turn.

"Mattia acusto!" Jeongguk was back again with another that caused some of the soil from down to get up flying and was about to litter Taehyung's clothes when he cast his reverse one, "Batiasa lag!"

A mediocre wind came through and restricted the pieces of land that was directed at Jeongguk failing the spell.

"It's a tough competition, Jeongguk," Taehyung said and the younger knitted his brows, "A competition? Uh it's just a friendly practice but yeah whatever,"

"Now let's see if you can handle this, I will get you, Jeon!" Taehyung said and tried the spell that wasn't actually that friendly to use, "Antoniyas sevirus!"

As soon as the words escaped his lips, there was a huge flash of electricity that was approaching Jeongguk who widened his eyes and started taking steps back and as he was in a rush, he tripped and fell on the ground.

Taehyung on the other hand couldn't believe this worked and he could manage this illusion. Yes, he made an illusion of that electric flash that scared the shit out of Jeongguk.

"Oh my holy Pishogue! It worked—" Taehyung cheered seeing Jeongguk on the floor not walking up to see if he was alright. He was sure he was because this didn't harm at all.

However he forgot not all the harm is done physically. Mental harm is more dangerous to be honest and Jeongguk was terrified.

"Are you alright, Jeongguk?" Jackson asked seeing his friend on the ground, laying there with his hands covering his face and only then Taehyung realized that using that spell might have been a bad idea.

"Jeongguk," he called running towards the other who now sat up with the help of Jackson and looked up at him, not uttering a single word.

"You okay?" Taehyung crouched down beside him and tried ask again when the blond still kept quiet, "Jeongguk, it was just an illusion, I didn't mean to scare you like that."

"So what? You shouldn't have used that, you know this is a very strong spell, this makes illusion of the things you fear and you know how triggering that must be, why did you do that?" Namjoon asked and sat beside Jeongguk who now stopped shivering and was calming down with every moment.

Taehyung stayed silent, he forgot about how this might just trigger the other and it did, he was so engrossed in defeating that he forgot that how traumatizing certain things can be to people.

"I am sorry," Taehyung looked down, not knowing how to say anything. Maybe because there's nothing to explain. It was his fault and he knew it.

Jeongguk just pulled himself to his feet and started walking ahead, not speaking to any of them.

Taehyung wanted to get after him but he didn't when Namjoon grabbed his shoulder stopping him, "Don't, he will come around, he just is so scared of thunders and now that he saw these huge ones you created, he must be terrified and as far as I know him, he will not show it, so let him be. He will come around."

Taehyung stared at his own feet when everyone left.

"I did a mistake, didn't I?" Taehyung asked when it was only Jimin and him standing there. He looked over his shoulder at the shorter male who nodded, "Yes, you did."

"You shouldn't have done that. I now get it why this spell is used to buy time because the wizard scares off their opponent and leave them to fight their fears which isn't easy. It surely doesn't harm anyone on the outside but Tae, baby, it surely scarred Jeongguk for that one moment." Jimin explained and he couldn't have felt more guilty.

Jeongguk was scared.

Yes, he was but it was for a moment. Now, he was so angry, he was thinking that he was the only one to try for this friendship. Taehyung never actually gave this a thought, it wasn't anything for him. He still thought about him as just a competition.

When time will come, Taehyung won't hesitate to do anything for that title, even if that costs their friendship.

It's already been one day since that accident and Jeongguk didn't talk to Taehyung at all. Even when he tried to, he would just make some excuses and leave.

And that,

Was driving Taehyung paranoid.

"Namjoon, please tell him, I am sorry. I know what I did, know that it was so wrong of me," Taehyung said as their class ended and they were walking to their lockers, Jeongguk a lot ahead of them.

"Uh, what can I say? He will probably get angry at me if I say something. You should talk to him."

"I am trying to talk to him but he isn't even listening to me," Taehyung said.

"You fucked up, Taehyung so you do whatever it takes. Just know that he genuinely wanted to end this rivalry between you, you using that spell yesterday must have him thinking that you didn't care about him one bit that you used it knowing what it was capable of," Namjoon said and took larger steps leaving the other behind.

Taehyung never felt this bad.

He asked himself why he did that. He did such a blunder.

The brunet never wanted this to happen. If he knew this would happen, he would've never used that spell.

The classes ended quicker than usual, maybe because Taehyung was just worried and trying every single way to talk to Jeongguk the whole time but Jeongguk made some excuses and somehow got a way out.

Taehyung with a sulky face entered the dorm, Jimin following him behind and threw the bag on the bed, "What do I do Jimin, he is so mad at me!"

"If I were him, I would be mad too, like uh—"

"You aren't making me feel better. Just help me please. I don't want him to see me as a villain, he must be thinking, I didn't want this truce or friendship like he did. I know I was a little doubtful about it but please you know I want it too, I am tired of fighting as well, " Taehyung said sitting on the edge of the bed, face buried in his palms.

"Talking it out is the only way and also do something for him that makes him believe that you do care, that he isn't the only one trying, get it?"

"Yeah; but give me ideas. Y'know I am dumb about all these," Taehyung said.

Jeongguk on the other hand laid on his bed, staring at the ceiling.

He was feeling so horrible.

No, 'why should he care for him' was the question. He should've expected this. He should have known that it wasn't so easy to befriend a rival. Maybe he didn't have too much difficulty but it isn't the same for everyone.

Taehyung is a different person and most probably all he needed was some time which Jeongguk didn't give him.

He rushed the whole thing that might have; maybe, apparently made the other uncomfortable or doubtful of his acts.

"Ugh, he isn't to blame as well, we need some time to get better," Jeongguk was trying to make himself understand the other's perspective too, "Maybe I shouldn't have been so harsh with him, ugh."

Soon there was a knock on the door.

When he lazily dragged himself off the bed and opened the door, he found Taehyung standing there looking down at their feet.

He could actually feel the guilt radiating through him and sighed.

"Please before you close the door on my face and break my nose, hear me out once."

When Jeongguk didn't say anything and just stared at him, trying not to burst into laughter, Taehyung spoke again,

"I am so sorry, Jeongguk."
