《Stuck With Him: Kai Parker》8

Closing my diary, I put it on my drawers before getting off my bed. However, I stopped and sighed, shaking my head with folded my arms over my chest.
"I know you're there, Malachai." I spun around and saw him sitting on my bed, legs crossed and head resting in his hands.
"Riley, is that you?" He asked, eyeing me up and down. I nodded, sticking our my tongue. "You look so different but hot."
"Thanks?" I said, thinking it was a complement. Kai smirked, continuing to eye me up and down. "Why did you fill in the newspaper?"
Kai shrugged. "It was painful watching Bon-bon try and figure it out."
"Bon-bon?" I asked, strangely feeling jealous.
"Yeah it's what Damon was calling her, don't worry you're still my Ri." He winked, I rolled my eyes but felt my cheeks warmth.
"So now what are you going to do?" I asked, joining him on the bed. Kai's eyes traveled from my legs up to my face as he bit his lip. I rolled my eyes. "Hello?"
He looked at me. "Hi." I sighed at his childish ways. "And I'm not telling you about my plan, Ri."
I shrugged. "Whatever." I stood off the bed and yelped when Kai slapped my butt. He giggled.
When I turned around, I raised my eyebrows at Kai, who had his nose buried deep in my diary. "Ever heard of privacy?" I asked, snatching it away from him.
Kai shrugged and I sat down, keeping the diary close to my chest. "I have, Ri and its so boring much like your life." He smirked and I punched his arm, regretting, however, because I felt the pain too.
"You are such an asshole!"
Kai laughed. "I prefer the term sociopath, Ri."
"No I think asshole suits you better." I said, flashing him a fake grin. He glared, and tried to take my diary but I moved away.
"Don't you dare." I warned, keeping the book close to me.
He shook his head, jumping on top of me in order to get the diary. I gasped and wrapped my arms around my diary, keeping a big grin when I know I'd won. I stuck my tongue out at him. "Ha."
Kai rolled his eyes, leaning in closer and licked my tongue. I cringed and he laughed. "You're disgusting."
He winked. "You love it." Kai leaned down closer and I inhaled a breath. His face was inches from mine and I felt his breath on my face. "What's wrong, Ri?" He asked, tracing my lips with this finger.
"Nothing." I replied, so quietly it might have as well been a whisper.
His smile grew. "Are you sure?" He ran his hand down my arms.
"Positive, you just need a mint." I grinned.
Kai laughed, while he continued to run his hand down my arm. It sent shivers down my spine as my eyes followed his hand.

"I'll take that." He suddenly swiped the diary from my hands. I gasped as he sat up reading the pages and sat up also reaching for the diary.
"Kai." I whined, when he held it up out of my reach. I huffed, growing tired and annoyed with him. "Give me my diary."
Kai rolled his eyes, shaking his head. "Diary diary."
"No!" I leaned over him and grabbed the diary of his hands. "You're so annoying." I told him, as I left the room keeping my diary close to me at all times.
Walking back downstairs to the kitchen, I could hear Bonnie and Damon discuss something. So me being me, I stopped and listened in.
"Its not her Bonnie."
"It has to be Damon don't you see, it all makes sense."
I wondered.
"No, she died two years ago. I should know I saw it myself. There's no way in hell its her."
I raised my eyebrows.
"Two years ago Damon. Which is the same time she got here. Put the pieces together its her."
"No Bonnie, Riley is not her."
My eyes grew and I backed away, slowly creeping back upstairs. I thought, walking back into my bedroom. I frowned.

The sound of the radio playing awoke me the next morning. I groaned, trying to zone it out but failed. "Alright I'm up." I mumbled, dragging myself out of the bed.
"Ri." Jumping, my hand whacked backwards and I felt a sting on my cheek. "Ow."
"Malachai don't scare me." I said, opening my eyes and looking at him. "What's wrong?"
Kai raised his eyebrows. "What's wrong with you?" I fused my eyebrows together. "I woke up with this pain on my lower back and stomach."
I raised a brow and then my mind clicked. I laughed. "What?"
My laughter became too much and I couldn't respond to Kai's question.
"Ri." Kai cupped my face and my laughter died down until I just giggled. "What's so funny?"
"Malachai, Malachai, Malachai." I sighed, patting his chest. "I'm on my period."
"What?" His eyes doubled in size and I smiled. I woke up last night with bad cramps, thankfully I found some pain killers in the kitchen so the pain faded.
"Are you bleeding?" I asked Kai, raising a brow. He shook his head. "Well that's a relief."
"When does this pain go?" Kai asked. "And why does it hurt so much?"
I laughed. "It takes a few days, Malachai." I leaned up and planted a faint kiss on his cheek. "Have fun."
Leaving Kai there stunned, I walked downstairs. The same thing was happening; Damon making pancakes and Bonnie staring at the crossword.
"You know that's already complete." I said, sitting down next to her. I agreed on not letting what I had heard ruin our friendship since I was hiding something as well.
Bonnie rolled her eyes. "I just wanna know who this other person is." She told me, resting her head on her hand.

"Maybe its a ghost." Damon joked, handing her a plate of pancakes shaped in fangs like he had always done. He handed me my plate and I thanked him, beginning to eat.
I snorted a laugh and Bonnie scoffed. "Yeah right, Damon." She replied. "If only I could do magic then." Bonnie groaned with annoyance, stabbing her pancakes with her knife.
"Hey I spent good time making those." Damon defended, sipping his bourbon.
Bonnie shook her head, excusing herself from the table and left the house. The door slammed behind her.
"Okay then." I mumbled filling the silence. Damon sighed. "Isn't it a little early?" I wondered, nodding to the glass in his hands.
Damon shrugged, taking another sip. "Isn't it a little early?" He mimicked. I glared.
"Shut up, I don't sound like that."
"Shut up, I don't sound like that."
"I don't like you."
"I don't like you."
"Shut up."
"Shut up."
"Damon!"
"Damon!"
I rolled my eyes and he laughed, gulping down the last mouthful before walking into the living room. I hopped off my chair, following him.
"I will never not love annoying you, Riley." He told me, refilling his glass. "Want one?" Damon offered, holding out a glass.
"I'll pass." I replied, jumping onto the sofa.
Damon rolled his eyes. "One day. Riley you will say yes." He predicted, taking a sip.
"We'll see, Damon." I sang, rolling my eyes.
After hours of chatting to Damon about nothing and getting dressed, Bonnie came back. "Hey Bon-bon." Damon waved, I waved too.
"Hi." She smiled, closing the door behind her. In her hands was a teddy bear.
"Who's that?" I asked, crossing my legs on the sofa.
Bonnie sat down next to me, inspecting the bear. "Ms Cuddles, I had her when I was younger but I lost her."
I nodded. "What year are we in again?"
"1994." Damon answered.
"Oh okay." I replied. Bonnie placed the bear on the coffee table.
"So what are we doing today guys?" I asked, filling the silence. I glanced at Bonnie, who shrugged, and Damon, who also shrugged. "You two are so boring." I huffed.
Damon rolled his eyes. "What do you want to do?"
"I dunno." I said and Bonnie laughed at me. Damon shook his head but grinned.
"We are low on milk." Bonnie pointed out.
I stood up and fixed down my shorts. "Let's go then." I picked up Zeke and threw him my back before we left for the store.
All of us talked on the way there and Bonnie grabbed a kart when we entered the store. I threw everything that seemed appetising to me in the kart while we walked down the aisles.
"Riley we came here for milk." Damon reminded me.
"Well this contains milk." I argued putting in a box of chocolates. He rolled his eyes at me. I needed chocolate too because my cramps were killing me, I wanted Kai to suffer so I never took pain killers.
Bonnie said nothing but laughed as we strolled around the shop. "You two are s-"
A loud crash echoed throughout the shop. I gulped, looking at Damon and Bonnie who looked confused yet worried.
"That wasn't by any chance you guys was it?" I asked.
Damon vamp sped ahead. I rolled my eyes.
I thought.
"Come on." Bonnie whispered. I nodded and followed her slowly, so we didn't cause attention.
I grabbed her arm to stop her. "Bonnie before we go there's something I need to tell you."
She looked at me, eyebrows fused together in confusion. "What is it, Riley?"
I bit my lip. "The thing is that, when I fir-"
Damon's scream cut me off. Bonnie and I gasped, glancing at each other before rushing over.
Kai was about to stab Damon in the back with an umbrella when Bonnie stopped him. "Stay away from him." She growled.
I stood next beside her, shocked at Kai's actions. He smirked. Damon groaned in pain, his head slowly lifting up up. His skin was healed but he was still in pain.
"The useless one is here." Kai's eyes flickered at me for a split second but he turned his attention to Bonnie. "Thank God."
I rolled my eyes. "I've watched you try to do magic now for...four months. And you keep failing. That's embarrassing, I'm embarrassed for you."
. I thought.
I stared in utter at Kai, then I remembered that this was who he was.
A sociopath.
Damon watched at Bonnie and I glanced at her. She was furious and took deep breaths. Her eyes darted around the store and she set her gaze on a candle.
Bonnie watched it intently, her eyes squinted as she focused. I gasped, my eyes widened when it lit up.
Damon half grinned and Bonnie smiled in achievement looking back at Kai who seemed shocked. "Uh oh." Kai said, dropping the umbrella.
Bonnie and Damon exchanged a look and she smirked. "Run." She simply said. Damon nodded, jumping to his feet and picked up me before he vamp sped away.
"What about Bonnie?" I asked, when he put me down. We were outside the store.
Damon shook his head. "She'll be fine, just stay here." He told me before vamp speeding away.
Gasping, I sat up and put my hand over my chest. I cursed, holding my head and felt something warm. "Ow." I saw the blood on my hand and bit my lip in pain.
Holding my head, I slowly climbed up to my feet. My head throbbed and my cramps didn't help.
I took a deep breath, fanning myself with my spare hand. "Why is it so warm?" I was, all of a sudden, heating up.
Slowly I began to make my way back to where Kai, Bonnie and Damon. However on the way there, I felt a thump on the back of my head and I fell down into darkness.

Shaman
*** Let's get this clear now: the MC is a trans woman. This is not a gender-bender. It's set in a fantasy world but the exploration of identity and gender is reality-based. Not a joke, not a kinky turn-on. If this is a problem for you, please just act like an adult and look elsewhere for something to read. *** Rating breakdown, since that should be public info: 2 x 5*, 1 x 4.5*, 1 x 3*, no reasons offered. A human shaman and healer returns from several years with the mysterious shyani, accompanied by her shapeshifting puma best friend. A valued friend, from her previous identity as a male student physician, has acquired an old shyani book, and extremists will not tolerate its presence in human hands. But back in human lands, the question arises: which world does she belong in? Generations ago, human explorers found a continent inhabited by an utterly alien culture of shapeshifting weyres and the shyani, humanoids who prefer dusk and dawn. A truce of sorts was eventually reached: humans claimed the rich lowlands, and the shyani and weyres retain the highlands. Along the border, practicality often rules, but on either side, old grudges linger in some hearts. As a student physician, Corin tried to take his own life, unable to bear the countless tiny wounds inflicted over twenty-one years of lying to himself in order to be, or pretend to be, socially acceptable. At the last improbable instant, intervention came, in the form of a spirit fox, who led him away from the existence he’d known in the lowlands and into the highlands. There, a puma weyre rescued him, and a shyani shaman helped him find his true self and offered a rebirth, a life with no more lies, and an important role to fill. Now a shaman and healer in her own right, Vixen who was once Corin learns that the one human who mattered to her in her previous life, then a fellow University student, has come into possession of an old shyani book, and the more fanatical shyani and weyres will stop at nothing to reclaim it and punish Jared. Even though it means going back into the lowlands and facing Jared as a woman, she can’t bear to just look the other way. This should be a short visit, just long enough to see the book into the proper hands and make sure Jared will not be killed for having it, and then she can return to the shyani community that has accepted her as their shaman. And, of course, her feline best friend Dayr insists on coming with her. But Jared is now a Lord, with considerable wealth and power, and his response to her presence isn’t one she expected. After years living with the shyani, she sees everything around her from a new perspective, and that makes it difficult to keep to the plan of making as few waves as possible. As an honoured guest in a highborn house, with only Jared aware that she has ever been anyone else, Vixen finds herself questioning where she belongs: with Dayr and the shyani, who accept her gender without question but have to make allowances for her differences, or with humans, in the culture she grew up in even though her past would mean a major scandal? *** Trigger warning: there are scenes of Vixen's previous life, which include some difficult moments and culminate in an (obviously unsuccessful) attempt at suicide before she finds her true self and a better life. Please be careful! This is the ONLY reason for the "Traumatising Content" tag.*** Complete stand-alone novel, 96K words. Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
