《Toxic》Doll and Bones Sittin' in a Tree

-From your POV-
Just because I hadn't been sleeping with Bones for the past week didn't mean I wasn't talking to him. We were actually having normal conversations. Tattoo talk, general interests, normal conversations. It was seldom that I had those. In the max pen facility, it was a bunch of looneys and gang-bangers and at home, it was Joker. And that explains itself. I would actually consider Bones and myself friends by now.
I sat on the end of my bed and was tapping through my phone mindlessly when I was getting a call from Bones. I furrowed my eyebrow and then answered. "Bones?" I answer.
" Up to help with a gig? I uh, not exactly as well trained as you are..." he muttered out.
"Oh?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah. We can discuss tonight... over dinner?" he suggests.
"Nope. See you at the club, 9 PM." I say, looking at my nails.
"You miss every shot you don't shoot." he says. I chuckle and then hang up. I decide to get dressed into some work out clothes to go train. I hadn't worked out in quite a while and I was past due for one. On my way to the workout room in the basement, I stopped in J's office.
"Hey, just wanted to let you know Bones has a business proposition for us tonight. Meeting at the club, 9 PM." I say as I fiddle with my hair, putting it up and out of my face. He was standing in the middle of his office, in a suit, arms crossed and serious look on his face. His eyes were examining me closely before he spoke.
"A proposition for us or for you?" he asks in a pointed tone.I tilt my head and cross my arms.
"Us." I say. A smile slowly creeps across his face.
"Doll, don't be naive. If I show up, will he be surprised?" he asks. I sigh, as I can feel myself starting to get annoyed.
"Even if he is, I don't care. What happened to business partners? Do you want me to cut you in or not?" I ask.
"Mmm. Are you two really business associates just doing business?" he asks. I hate when people beat around the bush.
"What do you want to know if he's my boyfriend?" I ask. He doesn't move his face. Just keeps smiling in amusement. I stand up straight, fixing my posture. "Do you really want to know?" I ask. His tilted heads shifts so it is now upright. I walk closer to him so we are now face to face. "I fucked him the night I met him. Left his back so scratched the skin was raw. He left bruises on my neck, as you remember." I started whispering in a low tone, keeping eye contact with him. "But the thing is, he likes me so much that he's so wrapped around my finger he hasn't caught on that I have no feelings for him." I finish. I now have a smile come across my face and J just starts laughing.
"Sounds like a boyfriend." he says. I shake my head slowly.
"Relationships are traps. They either never begin in the first place or they last so long the toxicity comes out." I say with a small chuckle. I then turn halfway to start leaving again.
"One day, one day you'll show weakness, doll face." he says through a chuckle.

"Yep. And it'll be the day I die." I say before leaving the room completely.

-From Joker's POV-
So she slept with him only once and he was this infatuated? What a moron. Y/n was no doubt.... different. A beauty. But she was deadly. She was dangerous. She was toxic. I have no doubt that when she was a spy and had a male target, she preyed on them similar to Bones. I had no problem with her getting so wrapped with him. None at all. It just solidified in my mind to never get involved with her. Her mindless flirting, her outfits, her games. All of it. As appealing as it is, it could never happen. We could never happen. I enjoyed looking at her but getting involved with her would be the death of me. We both have nasty tempers and lock horns far too often. I just tossed my head back slightly and giggled. "Oh doll."

-From your POV-
After I finished my workout, I took a shower and had one of the workers bring me something to eat. I ate in my bathroom, while I was standing in front of the mirror doing my hair. I was only wearing a t-shirt, as I hadn't gotten dressed yet, and then some heavy footsteps carried into the doorway of my bathroom. I looked up quickly and saw the clown standing there, watching me intently and smiling. "You know I'm half naked right?" I ask, my eyes back in the mirror so I can focus on my hair.
"That would only be an issue if we had chemistry, doll. But you and I both know we would kill each other before we got involved. So anyways," he speaks excitedly. "for meeting your boyfriend tonight, purple or green suit?" he asks me. I roll my eyes.
"Not my boyfriend, first of all. And second of all, I do not care." I say as I finish the last touches on my hair. I look down at my phone to check the time and see that it's already 7 PM. "How long was I gone in the basement??" I ask confused.
"5 hours." he hums out.
"FIVE?!" I yell out.
"Mhmmm." he hums again. "Must've had some..." he waltz over behind me, slowly moving his hands from behind his back and dropping them down on my shoulders as he leans down to my ear, looking me in the eyes through the reflection in the mirror. "....tension, to release." his serious stare and firm hands on my shoulder make my heart start racing, and then his intense gaze turns into a smile. "Well, T minus two hours." he chuckles before leaving the room. I take a deep breath and then shake off the feeling before getting up and heading into my closet.
Something different tonight. Instead of the usual lavish mini-dresses, I decide on something more serious. A slim black bodysuit that's form fitting, but has a high neckline that covers my collarbones and from my wrists to my ankles. I slide it on and look at it in the mirror. It's made out of a latex-like material, making it seem tighter than how it feels. I find some thigh-highs to go with it and slide them off. "Ugh, I'm in love with myself." I say as I admire myself in the mirror. I wink at myself before leaving the bathroom and heading into my room.I killed some time in my room before I heard a light tapping in my doorway. I look up and see him standing there. Wow. He has his diamond studs in, the ones that match his silver chains, and is wearing a classier suit than usual. And finally, wearing a shirt. He has a green dress shirt on underneath the deep violet jacket, which is clasped together and matches the pants. He has shoes that are the same shade as the dress shirt on and of course, his hair is gelled to perfection. The way he always has it. "Sharp." I say with a nod. His eyes look me up and down real quick before he smiles and responds.

"Could say the same thing, doll." he chuckles. "About that time. Arriving separate, or together?" he asks. I think about his offer for a minute and then shrug.
"Might as well." I push myself off my bed and steady to my feet. "Haven't been inside the Lambo yet." I say as I make my way to the door.
"I had Scott take it around and get it fixed after Batsy left a massive dent in the roof." he groans.
"Haven't seen him in a while. Wonder what he's doing." I laugh to myself. "God, if I had that much time I would be on a tropical island, not patrolling some busted up mobster paradise." I say as we walk to the car.
"A tropical island, huh?" he asks.
"Galapagos. It's a shame I'm on the FBIs most wanted list because I would kill to fly there right now." I say.
"Mmm. Funny how the all-powerful FBI has yet to catch you." he says as we step into the car. I sit down and and buckle myself in.
"Yeah well some criminals are smart enough to not drive purple luxury cars, own up to all their crimes, and you know, wear a mask when you do the deed." I say. He keeps his eyes on the road as he drives.
"A mask? Doll, when have you ever worn a mask?" he asks.
"I used to. I haven't recently because you know, cat's kind of out the bag now, but before going a little cuckoo on Robin, I had these giant cat eye sunglasses and a black face wrap. Sort of like what samurais wear. The trend here is everything is black." I say. He nods his head.
"I've noticed. Black car, black room, black suit, black boots, black heels. Black black black blackity blackity black black." he blows a raspberry and I just chuckle and shake my head. We make it to the club and he recklessly pulls into whatever spot he wants and parks it. Before I step out of the car, I tuck my favorite baby dagger into the thigh strap I put on over the suit and then just keep my phone in my hand.
We walk into the club and he snaps his finger, causing a waitress to come and start following us. "Whiskey neat. Want anything, doll?" he asks me.
"Make that two." I tell the waitress. She nods and quickly heads off to get the drinks. We make our way back to the table, he sits on his throne and I sit down at one of the other seats. I was looking down at the table and then the waitress brought the drinks over.
"A cheers." he lifts his glass slightly, wide grin on his face.
"To?" I ask him.
"Meeting your boyfriend." he laughs. I roll my eyes.
"To your girlfriend moving in!" I raise my glass. His laugh quickly drops, causing me to create one of my own. It was short lived though, as a tall man with bone tattoos approached the table and sat near me.
"Didn't know we were expecting company." Bones said, looking back at Joker and then to me.
"He's my business associate. You know that." I say as I fiddle my thumb and my pointer finger, rubbing them together.
"Right... so tomorrow, I have a pickup on the West end and I'm expecting an old, friend, to visit. He wants my head. So if you could, you know, keep me alive that would, that would be appreciated." he chuckles out nervously. I just purse my lips together and stare at him while I think of the offer.
"A pickup hm? So you ripping off?" J asks from across the table. My eyes go to him and his meet mine.
"Doll, in case you're new to the business, 'pickup' is a fancy word for a drug robbery." he says with a smile before turning his attention back to Bones. "The pay out?" he asks, taking a sip of his drink.
"Pay out?" Bones asks hesitantly. I laugh.
"Well, this is a job. No friendly freebies." I chime in. Bones starts thinking of what to say.
"You are a high roller. 50." Bones offers. Before I can even accept or deny, J chimes in.
"80." J spits out.
"80?! Jesus, you're bleeding me out here." Bones complains.
"What can I say, my assassin-princess is rather skilled." J teases. Under the table, I feel a foot tap lightly against mine. Before I can discreetly look to who's it is, I hear someone ask me a question.
"Cinderella assassin? What do you think?" J asks me with a tiny grin. Before I can answer, I feel a hand find it's way to the end of my knee, lightly near the edge of where my thigh starts. I take in a deep breath as my heart starts beating faster.
"We'll meet halfway. 75. J gets 30%." I see the grin on J's face morph into a full blown smile and feel the foot next to mine creep up and tap my ankle. Okay, so that's his foot. So I have one idiot playing footsies and the other one playing chicken. The hand applies pressure on my thigh before leaving it.
"So it's settled! I, will supply the weapons. I'm thinkingggg bazookas? Machine guns? I have a lovely grenade launcher I've been dying to try." J explains excitedly.
"Woah, you're coming??" Bones asks.
"Why not? I love a good robbery!" J asks before clapping his hands.
"It was more of a two-person job." Bones mumbles out.
"Not exactly date night." I sigh taking another swig of my drink. "Why did you think I cut him for 30%?" I ask. Bones looks down at the table and then sighs.
"Nothing flashy, okay?" Bones pleads and J frowns and then scoffs.
"Fine so make it boring then." J rolls his eyes and leans his head on his hand. I laugh and stand up.
"I'm going to the bathroom. Don't make-out with each other while I'm gone." I get up and leave my seat.

You'll see a few similarities here between this story and some existing stories, at least initially. There's a lot of inspiration drawn from both MoL and Re:Zero, though in terms of pathos and darkness, this story leans more towards the latter. Be warned, it is something of a slow burn. The main character will grow and become powerful, but a theme of this story is that power comes slowly and often at great cost. Oh, I also forgot to mention that I have taken inspiration from waaaay tooo many novels that I liked, and while there aren't any specific ones that I based this upon there are a few that I definitely took inspiration from like : the author's POV, chronicles of the heavenly demon [you can probably see where this inspired me ;)], etc.
