《Iridescent (E. Cullen)》Chapter Thirteen

Zenaida was never going to say anything about the vampirism. She was more than content to let them live their lives and just ignore it. As far as she could tell, over the last month, they've not done anything to warrant caution. They've kept to themselves. She lets out a breath as she stares down at the book in her lap. After school, She wanted to cleanse her mind palette by going through one of the books Frigga sent with her. Do something magic to get rid of the calculus rattling around her mind. But she can't concentrate on it. She's more focused on the whole blurting out the vampire thing. She has no idea why she said it. She really wasn't going to say anything about it. Now she might just have put a target on her back. She might have lost whatever growing friendship was there with Emmett. She doesn't know what it was or where it was leading but she is sure she's probably just ruined it. She shouldn't have said anything.
"You've been quiet" Bella points out as she sits on the bed with Zenaida who closes her book and tucks it away behind her to hide the contents from her sister.
"Just thinking about stuff" Zenaida offers and Bella gives her a look. "I'm fine" Zenaida assures her.
"You miss Loki" Bella counters and Zenaida lets out a breath as she turns to Bella.
"I do" She agrees, though that's not what is bothering her, it is not entirely a lie. She does miss them. Loki is a big part of her life now, and despite the little time they actually spent together on Asgard, she does miss them being around. Someone she could have spoken to about this vampire thing. They have connective dreams but neither of them has pushed for it since she came back to Forks. She might just have to reach out tonight. Just to get some answers. Some reassurances.

"She probably misses you too," Bella tells Zenaida who smiles at her. Bella is trying to make her feel better about being here and about being away from her mother. Charlie and Bella have both made comments about Loki and about Zenaida missing them. It's strange considering their relationship on Asgard was strained. But being back here, she does miss them. It perhaps hints that they would have had a good relationship, if they both put in more effort and time.
.....
In the darkened bedroom, Zenaida sleeps in her bed, blankets around her. Fairy lights offer some illumination from the wall across from Zenaida's bed.
......
An Asgardian wildflower field manifests around Zenaida as she dreams and she lets out a breath, taking in a deep one through her nose to breathe in the smell. Despite it being a dream, it is so realistic because it is formed from her and Loki's memories, both of them have been here, and both of them know what this place smells like. Loki appears behind her but she just stares out over the field. Above them, dark, greying clouds are rolling in. Loki tilts their head, eyes taking in the clouds before they look back at Zenaida.
"You are distressed" They comment. The greying clouds above them are usually a sign of one of them being upset over something. And whilst Loki is usually annoyed at things in their life, it is not enough to warrant storm clouds, implying that they are forming because of Zenaida.
"I know we haven't spoken much" She starts. "That we haven't...done this for a while...."
"I was giving you the space you needed to settle," Loki tells her and she looks at him softly.
"No, I have been tired, adjusting to things...I haven't been reaching out"

"So why are you reaching out now?" Loki asks her.
"Vampires" She admits. "I go to school with vampires" Loki frowns slightly as they move through the grass towards her. "And I might have....told one of them that I knew"
"Are you in danger?" Loki asks, sounding rather alarmed now.
"I don't think so" Zenaida assures them as she sits in the grass. "I've been there a month, they've been there two years now....and there have been no attacks, nothing like that..." Loki tilts their head as they join her on the ground, sitting across from her, the two of them cross-legged.
"Perhaps they are...vegetarian" Loki offers. "Surviving on animal blood"
"Does that work?"
"It keeps them alive" Loki answers. Zenaida lets out a breath and then tilts her head. "I have books, if you wish to read up on the Midgardian vampires"
"No" She stops Loki and shakes her head. "I think I might freak out if I read about them" Loki smirks a little. He can understand that. Sometimes there is bliss in ignorance.
"Though it may be wise to educate yourself on your enemy" Loki counters, she gives Loki a look.
"Enemy?" She asks. She's not sure they are her enemy. They haven't hurt anyone. They haven't hurt her. They haven't threatened her. They have given her no reason to deem them an enemy. "One of them is a mind reader" She points out. Loki tilts their head.
"Oh, so a strigoi" Loki informs her.
"There is more than one type? Is there a difference?" She asks, Loki gives her a look and she sighs. "Right, I don't want to know...I don't..." She lets out a breath and then looks around. "If you were worried about this, you wouldn't be so calm, right?"
"I am not worried" Loki assures her softly. "You have come a long way under my mother's tutelage. You have the skills you need to decide on a course of action yourself. You are not a child, Zenaida, you have to face this and decide for yourself. You have spent time with them, correct?" She nods. "Then you know them better than I" Loki shrugs and leans forward, closer to her. "Only you can decide how to react to this knowledge...only you can react accordingly" She nods a little. "But know that if they were to hurt you, in any way...I will be there" She smiles and nods.
"I know you will" She assures them. Loki may have been distant and aloof, but they have shown that they do deeply care for her. She does not doubt that they love her. In their own way.

Bobby likes Pabst Blue Ribbon, NASCAR races, and throwing fireballs. A through and through Georgia boy, raised down in the sticks but now working with all things mystic. He is, in other words, a magician. Not just any magician- but one bound by the most egregious of terms: business contracts. See, a long time ago, Bobby got himself involved with a dragon whose business was making magicians, and Bobby wanted magic to be his business. Both of them having common interest, Bobby agreed to sign over his services in exchange for phenomenal (draconic) magic. A pretty awesome deal, right? The contract put him at the top percentage of human magicians, on top of having the backing of a dragon patron, and a fantastic set of benefits befitting an esteemed contractor, so it'd be smooth sailing from then on, right? Not so. That kind of power isn't granted without strings attached, and Bobby's practically bound up in them. Following the esoteric laws set forth by magicians , juggling them with the mortal interests he still has to abide by, and finding himself at the beck and call of a fickle and opaque patron makes his life as a magician a rollercoaster of ups and downs. But when his patron sets him on a strange task- with stranger company, no less, even Bobby has to question what his mission really is. Delving into fantastic crimes and cracking open mysteries is just the least he can do, and he'll do it with the help of his gun, his wand, and his trusted allies both large and small. --- Cover art is of the Georgia Guidestones. Unique Fusion Magic Hex
World Essence. The mysterious energy coursing throughout the entire land of Vor'ten, and very possibly the entire world. This energy has allowed humanity to flourish, building great empires and vast kingdoms, conquering nature itself with just a sweep of their hand. Humans were the strongest existence, and with the help of channeling this World Essence, many were able to turn into Magic Knights, gaining magical abilities to combat the various fierce beasts throughout the lands.Alas... those glory days of old were long gone. Humanity has now been pushed to the brink of destruction, and now the remaining members of the human race are encased within giant domes known as 'Alkkras', made with the last remaining bits of the World Essence. It was said that those giant domes were the last gifts left by the remnants of the ancient human race, as a means to protect the future generation from the attacks of the many wild beasts roaming outside. Five Spiritualist Invokers, all combined together, used the last bit of the World Essence and sacrificed their lives to lay a gigantic, 1028-seal formation magic array to form these barriers, forever saving humanity, but also trapping humanity within these barriers. However, the humans were never completely helpless. No matter how little World Essence was left, the humans still had some remaining. Realizing the incoming crisis, the humans found a way to seal World Essence inside a special type of crystal. Soon, these crystals began to become implanted into weapons, turning them into World Essence Weapons, and they began to display properties of their own. Extreme heat. Bone chilling cold. Absurd sharpness. These normal weapons, after being imbued with the energy of the World Essence Crystals, began to form natural affinities to elements. Fire. Water. Earth. Wind. Darkness. Light. Using these weapons, one could become a Chevalier that wielded the power of the elements. However, if one wanted to reach a higher level of enlightenment and understanding, one could become an Invoker. Via the study of magic array formations, one could directly use the power of the World Essence to cast devastating magics upon the enemy. These people were Invokers, highly valued for their combat potential by the Army. These weapons and magical arrays were used in the great fight between the humans and the beasts long ago. They had long since been put away in storage, almost long forgotten...However, after ten-thousand years of suppression, the human race is beginning its counterattack against the Beasts... Synth was an Invoker in the Magecroft Academy. However, his talent was terrible, being only at the Spark Stage. This led to him being looked down upon and bullied. He was unable to cast any Calamity-rank or even Destruction rank spells, and was only able to cast Coalescing rank spells at the age of 17, a record low in the academy for cultivating these rare Invokers. Even though he put in more effort than anyone else, he was still unable to advance his Channeling Energy. But due to his constant research and study, Synth ended up creating a power that would go against the heavens - he had found how to Fuse spells together. After trying it out once, merging the magical array for the Small Fireball and the Mortal Judgement skills, he was able to create a mid-rank Destruction tier spell, Holy Judgement Flame. However, after this, no matter how hard he tried, he was unable to fuse more spells together or even cast them, and noticed a weird, pentagram shaped formation on his left arm. He would later call this mark the Fusion Magic Hex, a curse that prevented the wielder from casting magic that wasn't their own...This meant that with the exception of Synth's newly created skill, , he was going to have to create unique magic arrays if he ever wanted to step on the path of becoming an Invoker! This power that destroyed the laws of the Invoking System, and his unyielding persistence in testing and creating new spells, would later gain Synth the nickname the Unique Fusion Hex, and lead him to become one of the strongest beings in the entire World!
