《Burn Archer》Sixteen- A Coincidence?

"What the heck are you doing, you mental girl?!"
Ash shouting seemed like a distant cry to my ears. I also didn't notice as he raced in, dragging me out of the burning house and into the fresh air.
Just as we exited the house, the house collapsed to the ground and left flames and astonishment in the air.
"The fire-" I tried saying but I constantly kept coughing.
"Shh," Ash whispered as he carried me back.
He placed me near the lying girl, who was now sobbing into the arms of the farm man, and glanced around for any sign of help.
Ash snatched the phone out of my pocket and dialled in a number.
Suddenly, as I lay on the floor cooped up, from a distance I saw hundreds of men in three different uniforms racing towards us.
Some of them tried getting the fire down, some were inspecting the scene and a couple were checking on us.
"They both have a lot of smoke inside their lungs especially this one," the doctor said pointing his crooked finger at me.
He attached a pipe into my mouth and the other end into a black screen which he put out in front of my face. In the screen I could see my face covered in ashes.
It felt as if a strong force was sucking the life out of me.
My coughing lowered, and I sat up as he took the pipe out.
The doctor stood up. "She's all good now, but she needs to get cleaned up."
My eye sight was blurry but I managed to see two figures run my way and take me into a curtain.
After I'd been bandaged and cleaned, I walked unsteadily out of the little tent and glanced around the scene.

Eleanor glared at me as I approached them. "You shoulda' been born with a stupid warning sign".
"That's a good one," Ivory said chuckling as she hugged me.
"If I was a bird, I would know exactly who to poop on."
My mind was filled with even more rude insults I was ready to fire at anyone who scolded me about being naive.
"We're the trained people here and you just go barging in? You could have gotten killed!" Ash shouted.
"You do understand that at this point I don't exactly care of my life?" I said. "After my sister died because of me, I stopped caring about my actions! And my family's probably dead by now too."
There was a long pause and I realised that I hadn't said it aloud yet. My sister died.
"Well you need to start thinking about your actions because you might have people who love you," Ash finally spoke.
I crossed my arms. "That's not good enough."
I heard someone let out a muffled breath.
"Anyways, moving on!" the inspector said breaking the awkwardness.
"What exactly happened when you woke up in the field this morning?"
The atmosphere became chaotic as everyone told the story on top of each other as the inspector tried quietening them.
"This fire was made on purpose!" I interrupted.
The inspector eyed me carefully. "You're making a serious accusation, young lady."
"Give me my phone, would you?"
Ash narrowed his eyebrows as he handed me the phone slowly.
Everyone's expression turned priceless when I showed them the photo of the back door.
"What's this?" he asked, obviously exasperated.
I pointed to the tin can of oil, the spilt oil and the burnt matchstick.

"Obviously, it can't be a coincidence that all those three things were lying in a burning house-" I said before I was interrupted by a squeaky voice.
The blue girl jumped from behind Ivory. "Hey! That's the same can of oil my dad bought earlier this week!"
We stared at her in astonishment and glanced at each other in shock.
"And what happened before the fire started, sweetie?"
"Oh right, my dad was just fixing our broken back door and he had all this cool equipment. I went to hang around him to watch him work but he sent me to my room."
We all gazed over at the farmer and when he stared back at us, we glanced away as quick as possible.
"Thanks Abby, run along now," the inspector said with a smile.
His eyes pierced into each of our souls. "You kids run along too, this case just got serious."

Gaia Ark
Commander Coop, a four-armed, power-armored, super-soldier, undertakes a mission to assassinate the head of a religious cult bent on destroying the UPSF and everyone they protect. But no mission is ever that simple. GAIA ARK is an action adventure hero's journey featuring a cranky cyborg, vampiric sword, alien monsters, and enough self-discovery to provide a character arc. It's a little rough around the edges, a little crude. I started writing this story on November 2, 2018. This story is mid-composition. Please expect clunky prose, notes [in brackets], and incomplete...

Homeland
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER -- In Cory Doctorow’s wildly successful Little Brother, young Marcus Yallow was arbitrarily detained and brutalized by the government in the wake of a terrorist attack on San Francisco—an experience that led him to become a leader of the whole movement of technologically clued-in teenagers, fighting back against the tyrannical security state.A few years later, California's economy collapses, but Marcus’s hacktivist past lands him a job as webmaster for a crusading politician who promises reform. Soon his former nemesis Masha emerges from the political underground to gift him with a thumbdrive containing a Wikileaks-style cable-dump of hard evidence of corporate and governmental perfidy. It’s incendiary stuff—and if Masha goes missing, Marcus is supposed to release it to the world. Then Marcus sees Masha being kidnapped by the same government agents who detained and tortured Marcus years earlier.Marcus can leak the archive Masha gave him—but he can’t admit to being the leaker, because that will cost his employer the election. He’s surrounded by friends who remember what he did a few years ago and regard him as a hacker hero. He can’t even attend a demonstration without being dragged onstage and handed a mike. He’s not at all sure that just dumping the archive onto the Internet, before he’s gone through its millions of words, is the right thing to do.Meanwhile, people are beginning to shadow him, people who look like they’re used to inflicting pain until they get the answers they want. Fast-moving, passionate, and as current as next week, Homeland is every bit the equal of Little Brother—a paean to activism, to courage, to the drive to make the world a better place.
