《Home | The Originals》Chapter 23: Chairity

Me and Hayley we're stacking cans of food so we can bring them to people in need at the church. A tear fell down her face as she does this. She told me that she went through Elijah's journals to find out where Celeste was buried so she can tell Sophie. There wasn't much I could do but just be here for her and try to comfort her.
"What are you doing?" I turned around and Nik was walking up to us.
Hayley quickly pulled herself together so Nik wouldn't know she was just crying. "I was gonna take these to the—"
"If you say, "Bayou," I will find a nice comfy dungeon and throw you in it. This is not the night to be out there." Nik said cutting Hayley off.
"For anyone. But some people don't have a choice." Hayley continues.
"And I'm going to help her with this. Then I need to go to my shop and lock things down so nothing will get destroyed." I said to him.
"Right." Nik grabs one set of cans. "Grab that lot and come with me." He told us before leaving.
I looked at Hayley. "Do you want to carry Angel while I get the other cans or do you want to do it?" I asked her.
"No, I got it." She said and picked up the set of cans then we went to follow after Nik.
~~~
We walked inside the church to see Father Kieran running around helping people as they sit through the storm that was happening outside. Light flashed through the windows as lightning strikes somewhere near.
"We still haven't gone through all that you've already provided, Klaus." Kieran said as he walks up to us.
Nik hands him the box of canned foods. "Well, this newest bit isn't from me." He said then took Hayley's box and handed it to him.
"Oh?" Kieran said and handed the canned food to a volunteer. "That's very kind of you."
"Hayley." She introduces herself before he could ask who she was.
I look around the church. "Who are all these people?" I asked.
"I asked Father Kieran to give them shelter. He suffers from an incessant desire to do good, but now I need you to be useful. Marcel and Davina have disappeared." Nik said and Father Kieran looks at him surprised. "I assume from the stupefied look on your face they haven't sought refuge in your attic."
"No. Those days are gone." Kieran said.
"Then energize your resources. I don't need to remind you how important it is they be found." Nik said.
Father Kieran nodded his head. "Yes." He said and walked away to see if he can get anything. Lightening strikes again as it flashes through the windows. The lights in the church start to waver a bit but they stay on.
"These people, they're werewolves, and the priest, he said that you donated the food you're helping them?" Hayley asked Nik.
"They're not your werewolves. They're my clan from very far back. They've fallen upon hard times, and their plight has brought out the philanthropist in me. What can I say? Must be Elijah's influence." Nik answered.
I scoff. "Yeah right. Just admit that the devil actually has a good heart." I said and he smiled bright at me.
Nik grabbed my hand and we started to exit the church but Hayley stopped us. "What do you mean to your clan?" She asked him.
"The blood that runs in their veins runs in mine." Nik answered. He turns around to face Hayley. "And in our child's."
"This family gets more complicated by the second." Hayley commented.
Nik let's go of my hand so he can walk closer to Hayley. "Listen, Hayley. Word of advice when dealing with Elijah. Don't do as I do. Just apologize. He's accomplished in many things, but he is a master of forgiveness." Nik said.
Nik turned back around and took hold of my hand again so we can leave the church. "Careful, Nik. People will start to think you have a heart." I said and he laughs at me.
"The day that ever happens is the day death knocks on their door." He said and I laughed at him.
"And what did you mean by don't do what you do? You apologize."
Nik shook his head. "No I don't."
I shrugged my shoulders. "Well, unless the person is me you will." I said and he only smirked at me.
Legends of The Wesh: Lochley
The Universe is held together by something. It is an undisputable truth but nobody knows what that something is. People claim that it is connected by The Path of Legends, where Gods traversed trying to find the meaning of their own existence. Others claim that the universe is a Tree, connecting worlds with its extending branches and giving life-bearing fruits to its inhabitants. Several even claimed that the Universe is just a colony of ants, that this universe and the worlds in it are just as insignificant as insects. In one of the Worlds in it, the arrival of someone signaled great changes. Gods will die, Trees will Rot, Insects will burn. Those at the top had fallen and they will upend the worlds trying to claim what was theirs. Those at the bottom have had enough of scraps and they yearned to devour the fruits of the worlds. Those that were innocent and caught in between had no choice but to persist, lest they get erased by the surging tides. Nobody knows where will they end, but everybody knew where they started. They will not be judged, they will not be rebuked, they will not be curbed, they will not be vanquished. The universe is their canvas and it’s time — time to paint their truths upon it. Azrael was born as a prince in the warring world of Ost. Inheriting the title but not its privileges and oppressed by his siblings in every step of his life, he had no choice but to be subservient to their whims until circumstances spiraled him to the abyss, to a new world, and to more agreeable companions. But is he truly free from the past or will it continue to hound him to his new life? Elira had one wish… to be known more than as an offspring of the Great Phasol Family. Talented, hardworking, and stubborn, she struggled to break free from the influence of her family. Everything had been going well in her life but is she strong enough to resist the upheaval and truths of the world? William grew up in an orphanage with nothing to his name. Regaled by various tales of fantasy and greatness by his caretakers, he reached adulthood with the goal of having a legend of his own. Will he make his mark on the world or be forgotten like an ant; crushed by the boot of an unsuspecting traveler. The world of Lochley has been at peace for centuries and its undercurrents are growing restless from waiting… waiting for that spark of opportunity to ignite and swallow the world whole. Some will cause it, some will resist it, and some be drowned by it. Which one will you be?
