(She is not using that bag BTW. I'm not the type to do flashbacks, sorry. Last thing, this chapter is pretty gruesome. To a point where I'm uncomfortable and disappointed that I thought of this. So read at your own will.)
Nik walked into my room and sat himself next to me on my bed. It seemed that something was stressing him out, but I'm not going to pry on his sessions with Cami. I guessing things didn't go well with his appointment.
"Do you remember what you told yesterday in the bayou?" He asked me but I looked at him confused so he continued to explain. "How you lost everything in the fire at the opera 100 years ago?" He said and I nodded my head. "What did you lose?" He asked me.
I was quiet for a while. I had made myself forget about what happened that night. "Um, three years ago before the fire, I had came back to New Orleans to see if anything was interesting was going on. That's when I heard about the famous Mikaelson family." I said and he was going to say something but I continued. "The reason we have never met was because I made sure to stay out of your way. I didn't want attention because I knew I wasn't going to stay for long." I told him and Nik stayed quiet.
"I had met this guy and we just clicked right away. We had dates, I told him what I was, but he didn't care because he had the idea that there was a supernatural world, then later on he would spoil me rotten with gifts that he could find." I said and a huge smile was plastered on my face as I remember how we first met.

"One day I found out I was pregnant and he was the most happiest of all the man in the world. He bought every baby needs and toys and all of them were pink. He assumed it was girl. 9 months later I gave birth to a beautiful girl named Rose and everything was like all the movies we would see that had an happy ending. Three years has past and it's the day of the fire. Rose and her father wanted to go to the opera and the two convinced me to go as well. I left to use the bathroom and when I came back, everything was a disaster." I said and a tear fell down my face.
Nik put his hand on my cheek and rubbed the tear away. "You don't need to continue." He told me and I shook my head. He made me rest my head against his shoulder.
"When I came back my husband, Eric, was burning to death and Rose was just standing their crying her heart out for him. She heard something happening on the stage and she saw this man walk towards Marcel who was tied up. She used her magic to stop him and that put all the attention on her." I said and more tears start to fall down my face. Nik pulled me so I was straddling his lap so he can wrap his arm around me.
"The man just kept coming for Rose and she was trying so hard to stop him. Once he reached her he shoved his hand in her chest and took her heart out. But he didn't stop. He then decided to just rip her head off her body before he decided to leave." My voice broke.
"That man who killed your daughter, was my father. He was hunting me and my family down. I'm so sorry." Nik said as he buries his head into my neck.

"It's not your fault. I know your story." I whispered. We just sat there with me in his lap and his head in my neck. I had stop crying by then.
Nik had pulled away from my neck and said he had to go do something. He asked me if I needed him to stay but I shook my head. He hesitated but left leaving me with Angel. I look down on her and stare. I may not have been able to save my first daughter but I'm damn sure going to make sure Angel lives so she can have kids soon.

When trying to save an injured animal while drunk you don't really expect many consequences. If you were sober, you'd likely expect to be saddled with a few bills and some work finding the owner. In either case, being saddled with divine duties by an ancient animal spirit is probably not amongst the things you expect. Neither did Eva when she picked up an injured canine after an evening out drinking with a friend to celebrate their arrival in Tokyo. At least those duties are little more than a part time job as a delivery-fox. And they come with room and board, as well as making her life that much more interesting.

I'm Always Talking to Myself
My name is Zach. I’m a typical bland featureless protagonist type. The kind of guy who has purposefully few defining characteristics so that people can project whatever they want on me. Like Luke from Star Wars or what’s her name from Twilight. Most main characters are like me. Kind of flavorless blank slates because we all secretly doubt that we’re Harrison Ford, but pretty much anyone could be Mitt Romney. Yep. Yes indeed, I do spend basically my entire life running an internal dialog to no one. Usually I’m imagining that there are people listening. Like maybe philosophers from Ancient Greece, or researchers from another planet who act suspiciously like the characters from that Instagram comic with the aliens. Stupid Instagram comedians stealing my internal monologue and turning into a wildly successful enterprise which I would imagine has a vibrant merch dropshipping arm and hundreds of thousands of daily dopamine hits for loyal followers. I basically spend all of my time explaining random things to imaginary people (and aliens, and animals, and household items which have inexplicably gained sentience and frankly have some concerns about this whole existence thing). Honestly, it’s both highly entertaining to me, in that it makes me think about why we humans do all of the bizarre things that we do, but also horrifically exhausting and kind of makes you feel like you’re either, worst cast, losing your grip on reality, or best case, becoming Abed from Community. Anyway, I’m sure that I have some distinguishing characteristics, but, in the interest of hypnotic suggestion I’m choosing to omit them until I’m pretty sure that you have subconsciously come to identify with me, or until I feel like it. (By the way, in case I forgot to mention it, a higher power called Aww Thor or something told me to say that this is a slice-of-life comedy adventure and that it's set in a fantasy world with isekai and LitRPG elements.)
