. It was Gerald. “Auntie Adobea, I am hungry.” I checked the time and it was 2:15am. Holy Jesus! I screamed. *“Gerald, it is late.” I tried convincing him to go back to sleep. I even told him his mum won’t be happy if she got to know he was awaked at that time. He told me his mum wasn’t home. I got confused. I asked of the two house helps. He said they were also not there. It sounded strange to me. I got up; a little scared walked to the sitting room. The television was on. I peeped through the window and Mawusinu’s car was still there. “Eeei! Where am I” I asked myself. I became frightened and started to shiver. Gerald looked at me and whispered: *“Mum will be back soon.” My fear was no worry to Gerald. He knew the mum was out yet in. In just five minutes of staying in the sitting room, the television channels changed thrice by itself. I thought it was one of Kantanka’s Television sets that responded to feelings. I got closer and it was Panasonic. Meaning, it had an external force changing it. I hurried to the kitchen to fetch some biscuits for Gerald. I got there and the Microwave was on. There I screamed Jesus! Gerald realized it wasn’t fun anymore. He asked if we could run back to the room. I put the microwave off and opened it. Goodness! It was empty.
and it was locked. It had been locked from the inside. I had no other choice than to rush out of the house. Surprisingly, the entire doors were locked with the keys taken out. I knew God was watching. The last was Gerald’s room. We got closer, and we heard voices. Gerald looked at me and said, *“Auntie Adobea, I told you mum will come back.” The look on Gerald’s face made me believe he was telling a true lie. The voices became deeper and louder. My legs could no longer hold my body. “If hunger couldn’t kill me over the years, why should my fear do?” I ignorantly and fearfully thought about that. I held the handle of the door, and surprisingly the noise stopped. Effortlessly, the door opened by itself with red smoke all over. I hurriedly turned my back to protect Gerald but he was nowhere to be found. I became more frightened. A voice from Gerald’s room called my name and asked me to enter. Just then another voice spoke: “Adobea run.” I turned and it was Gerald. He shouted again but this time in a different voice; a hoarse one. “Adobea, I said run.” His eyes were changed; it looked reddish and teary*. I kept running yet I couldn’t find any door to open. One was left opened and that was the one that led to Gerald’s room. I knew I had landed in the wrong house. To escape wasn’t an option any longer. Death was the only option left. Gerald, now turned a beast was nowhere to be found. “Auntie Adobea, come and see” that was Gerald’s real voice. I turned and it was Gerald shivering. “I am afraid, Auntie Adobea.” He held my left hand and led me to the sitting room. We got there and we found a black coffin right in the middle of the sitting room. It was covered with a red and purple fabric. Two black earthenware pots were on it filled with something that looked like money missed with blood. I saw two people at both ends of the coffin. Their faces were masked. Gerald held my hands so tight and begged me to carry him. The masked men saw us but never acknowledged our presence. Gerald at my back we run towards his room. Surprisingly, everything had become normal again. The house helps came out from the kitchen requesting if Gerald and I needed something. They were very nice. I inquisitively rushed to the sitting room and lo and behold I saw Mawusinu making a call. I wiped my face severally to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. I checked the time and it was 5:25am. O my God! I haven’t slept for almost three good hours. Who do I narrate this to? I rushed to look for Gerald but he was fast asleep.

members and sympathizers trooped in to console with Mawusinu. Knowing very well she had money, the family members really came in their numbers. It was there I *remembered my Grandmother.* I was told she was buried the very day she died. No family member was ready to take up her bills. She was buried like a dog. May her soul rest in peace.
after that terrible incident. Gerald all this while never had further discussion over what happened in the early hours. The silence in that house after that incident made me felt it was mere hallucination; but my dear reader, it wasn’t. Whatever I saw was real. Mawusinu suddenly developed a strange ailment. Her neck on the left hand side got swollen. Her hair started coming off and the left knee also got swollen. These signs became visible just three days after my ordeal. She sought for medical treatment but it became worse. I knew if care wasn’t taken Mawusinu will die. I felt I needed to help her. I knew this ailment wasn’t for orthodox treatment. Her ailment was beyond human comprehension. I petitioned the two house helps if they knew of any true man of God who could help us in *prayer. They answered in the negative. I felt this was calculated. That very evening, I went to Mawusinu’s room and I asked her if she believed in God. She said yes but didn’t know how to pray. I asked her if she believed God could heal her. She smiled and shyly said yes. I held the two hands, and decreed words of healing into her. I knew Jesus was right there. Her body started vibrating. She screamed and all of a sudden fell on the bed. That was all; she slept. In just some few minutes I saw whitish fluid substance coming out from the neck and the knee. I hurriedly rushed to the kitchen to call the house helps.

I prayed to God for protection for the entire household. Late that night, I again heard a soft knock on my shoulder. I opened my eyes and it was Gerald. *"Auntie Adobea, I am hungry" My *dear reader, I checked the time; it was *2:15am. There I knew this wasn’t funny anymore… (

Trickster's Tale
Be careful when demanding reparations from gods. They rarely own up to their mistakes. Due to a goddess's shortsighted error, Perry finds himself transported to a distant Universe with new proportions and a different identity. Instead of cowering before the deity, he demands she opens a portal home or provides reparations for him and his bereaved family. Unfortunately, standing up for himself doesn't earn Perry respect. Instead, she curses him with cowardice, limiting his combat and magical potential. Little does the goddess know that nothing can stand in the way of Perry's sheer will. If brute strength and arcane might won't get him the justice he desires, wit and creativity will. Perry's first target? A goblin shaman. Then, the world. And so begins, the bard's ballad. Trickster's Tale (Book 1): Is That A Lute In Your Pocket will release on Kindle Unlimited on the 10th of May.Due to KU's exclusivity rules, I've had to take most of book 1 down.Book 1 Bard's Ballad takes place in the same extended Universe as my other story, The Houndsman. It's set on a distant 'disk', though. As a result, the magic system is unique in comparison and has a harder LitRPG system. While the story utilises stats, it doesn't take them seriously and occasionally makes fun of regular LitRPG mechanics.
