《Free Your Mind》Chapter Eleven: The United Terror

The midnight sky had become as bright as mid-day. As far as the eye could see, blinding light and burning embers shrouded the twinkling stars above. A once silent night of the sleepy little town was interrupted by their worst fear. Sending families once nestled in their beds fleeing into the streets to escape the flaming wreckage that was only minutes before their homes. The thin panes of glass was all that separated the residents of the orphanage from the carnage that tore through the town at the bottom of the hill. Below the structure of the large brick home, hid away more than six dozen children, ranging from the age of only months to fifteen years. All of them coward away within the dark, fearing, hoping, praying, and begging to see the light of day again.
Among the terrified souls of the children hidden below, sat the majority of the sisters from the orphanage's staff. Having been ordered by the head of house to make sure the little ones stay out of sight in case the worst comes to fruition. Sister Dorothy, the head of the little orphanage, sat armed with a shotgun in hand within the foyer. Sitting on a lonely wooden dining room chair, all she could do was wait as the hours tick by, whispering silent prayers to herself in order to build her strength for the fight. Her breath was baited as she looked down upon her hometown, now in ruins, decades of memories once shared by many now burned away, wafting into the sky. Faint screams from within the town filled the otherwise silent halls of the house.
At any moment, the United Terror could come up the hill and unleash hell among the children. Dorothy, fueled by determination, attempted to never let her guard down to the demons about to knock at her door. The war tearing through the town had sadly only just begun, yet within minutes, the monster had claimed so many victims. All of them slaughtered in the name of greed. The woman wiped a tear from her eye. She knew that even if every last one of the townsfolk were murdered, the bloodlust of the United Terror would never be satisfied. Her country had been chosen to have havoc brought upon them by the leaders of the world's enemy. And they wouldn't stop until every last acre of the land was under their command. And no one could prevent them from achieving this goal.

Unbeknownst to Dorothy, the United Terror had already shredded its way through her home, through her, and through the children. Her efforts had been futile from the start. As she, among all within the orphanage stood no chance to the United Terror. And they shall all soon come to know what hell really feels like. The demons creeping in would torture their souls until every last one of the residents were nothing more than hollow husks, numbers, a statistic within the United Terror's greater plan.
