"Arena, your phone!!" sounded Naha's loud voice throughout their hotel room, as Arena speeded out of the bathroom with a black face mask on.
Naha handed her the ringing phone, all the while trying to keep in the giggles, her friend looked ridiculous. And she didn't forget to mention it to her.
Arena grabbed the phone, sticking her tongue out at Naha's comment.
"Hello?"
"Arena?"
She almost dropped her phone at the sound of his voice. Why was he calling her? Her breathing quickened as she thought up the worst case scenarios to the reason of his phone call.
"Wonho??"
Naha's eye widened and shot up to Arena's. She stealthily jumped over her bed to stand next to Arena and listen in. This ended in Arena pushing her away and locking herself in the bathroom with her mobile.
"Yeah um hi." His voice was awkward and strained.
"How did you get my number? And why are you calling me?" Arena spoke semi-silently so Naha couldn't overhear, standing in the farthermost corner of their washroom.
"Stole it from Kihyun's phone. Listen, I really need to talk to you."
Arena's brows pulled together in confusion, "What do you want to talk about?"
Wonho chuckled quietly on the other end of the line, "Because of what you did yesterday. I know why you left me in that studio with...um.. her. I didn't realize 'til late night when I couldn't sleep that you were doing it for me aswell, not only for her."
Arena swallowed hard, slowly sliding down the tiled bathroom wall to sit down. Wonho continued:
"I thought I should be mad at you but I have no right to, I was too stupid and egoistical to think that all of this time it was about me when it wasn't. You and Kihyun did nothing wrong, and I feel ashamed about how that made me feel about you when Naha told me. Thank you for giving me a chance to find out the truth. Even if it meant trapping me inside with her when it was the thing I feared the most."
Arena sniffled, trying to blink away the tears forming in her eyes. "Wonho, if I could stop what happened to you guys, I would. I had no idea what she was up to at that time, I am so sor.." She couldn't finish as Wonho's soothing voice cut her off.
"No, no, no you have nothing to be sorry for. This is not your fault, but mine and Naha's."
"I hate that this happened to you guys." The hardened face mask was giving Arena a hard time to talk, but she was in no rush to wash it off. This right now was more important. Arena knew very well that when she finally exited the bathroom again, Naha would be out there and waiting for her to spill.
"Which brings me to the actual reason why I'm calling. I love my members, we are like this huge family of brothers. I hate to see them down and struggling."
Arena wasn't sure if she was going to like where he was going with this.
"I know them well enough when they are going through hardships, even if they try their best to hide them. I can clearly see how hard all of this is for Kihyun. The guy is totally gone for you, can you not see it? Every single one of us knows it. He knows it. Hell, I'm pretty sure even Naha knows. The only one oblivious to his feelings is you. And I know you care about him."

"Wonho, it isn't this easy. It would put his career on the line.."
"Many idols date. Wasn't it just a few weeks ago when it was confirmed that EXO's Kai had a girlfriend? I'm giving you this advice as a guy, as his friend and as your friend. Don't let what happened to me and Naha happen to you two. Give the guy a chance, Arena. Give yourself a chance."
"Says the guy who cold shouldered my best friend when she was basically begging for his forgiveness," scoffed Arena softly.
Wonho bit his lip on the other end, leaning his head against the hallway wall.
"She told you, didn't she."
Arena picked at her dark blue nail varnish. The cold bathroom tiles beneath her butt were already starting to make it sore but she didn't dare to move from the position she was in, her knees pulled tightly to her chest.
"Yeah..."
"I'm going to need time to think about things, I'm pretty sure we will make up and get together at some point, if she wants to, but it's not likely going to happen anytime soon.
The real question is, how long will it take before you realize your feelings for Kihyun?"
Arena bit her lip, her fingers stiff and white from gripping her cellphone so tightly between them. Not long. "How will I know it won't end with a disaster? I could lose my job and friends and he could get in trouble and his career would suffer."
"I think you're overreacting, those things don't really happen. No one ever actually gets fired or anything. I care about you, Arena. I also care about him. Please don't play with his feelings just because you aren't sure of your own."
Arena's eyes widened, she would never do that to someone, and she made sure she told that information to dear old Wonho.
"Okay, whatever you say. When you figure things out then go to him. He'll be waiting for you. Has been for the past months, actually."
Arena swallowed a small laugh as a single tear escaped from her eyes and she tried to smile, "He is going to kill you when he finds out you told me this."
"Yeahhh probably."
***
Arena blinked away the memories of the phone call she had had 3 days ago. Kihyun's statement had left her speechless and frozen in place, trying to figure out what was wrong. Somehow her thoughts had ended up on what Wonho had said. Arena feared to think that maybe Kihyun had had enough of playing around.
Her confused eyes met Wonho's own tired ones. He shaking his head no as to not knowing what was going on.
"Wait what but why?" Arena turned her head back to look at Kihyun who was gulping down a bottle of water. He swallowed harshly and looked back at her.
"I. Need. To. Talk. To. You." His voice was strained as he struggled to get the words out, left breathless from the intensity of the water he had just drowned in his throat, but it wasn't the only reason he was breathing hard.
Arena gulped anxiously as their eyes locked. Her legs trembled as they looked at each other, not once settling their gaze somewhere else. Kihyun cocked his brow and indicated to the hole in the wall with his head, "Well? We ain't got all day." He stalked away through it, hands in fists by his side.
Wow macho much?
Arena rolled her eyes as she tug off her coat and set out jogging after him. How could she go outside wearing a coat if he wasn't? "Wait! Is something wrong?" She didn't get an answer, it only seemed that Kihyun's pace just sped up as he basically flew out of the building through one of the main entrances, entrance as in the biggest hole in the building to come through.

"KIHyun! Where are you going?" Arena stopped in her tracks, out of breath and unable to keep up with him, her hands were cold and feet stiff after standing for hours so RUNNING after him wasn't exactly the thing that she really wanted to do at the moment.
She placed her hands on her knees and took deep breaths, trying to settle her heartbeat from the physical strain and anxiety. What if he was going to tell her to stay away or yell at her for some reason. Was he mad at her? She hadn't done anything wrong.
Arena felt like she was going to be sick to her stomach, the unknowingness of the situation almost driving her to the verge of vomiting.
Kihyun had his back to her as he looked over his shoulder, surprised to notice that she wasn't straight behind him anymore. His shoulders heaved as he turned straight on his heel and walked right back to her.
Arena shook her stiff hands, her breath heating up the cold air and turning into mist before her very eyes. Kihyun stopped close to her, still keeping a distance.
Arena looked at him, waiting for him to speak up or explain or i don't know, do something? Why had he called her out in the first place. 6 minutes from the 30 minute break were over and wasted already. Arena rubbed her hands together to warm them up.
"Kihyun, what's wr..." Her lips shut immediately as he started speaking in a slow and quiet voice, looking at the ground, his fingers stiff from keeping them in tight fists.
"Do you, have any idea what you do to me?" He looked up to her, eyes flaring. They almost looked red, but Arena knew that couldn't be possible.
"What?" breathed Arena, her hands trembling.
"I said, do you, Arena CalDER HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU DO TO ME!" He raised his voice decibel by decibel as he stomped forward.
Arena didn't move, "W H Y ARE YOU Y E L L I N G AT ME"
Kihyun took a deep breath and relaxed his fists before grabbing onto her waist, pushing her against the stone wall and locking her in his iron grip that seemed like a prison. This time he was real and he had actually just done that. Arena could feel his hot breath on her neck as she tried to avert her gaze from his eyes.
"Um.." stammered Arena, looking at the ground behind Kihyun's left shoulder, the palms of her bare hands flat against the freezing cold wall.
But it didn't matter.
All she could feel was the heat of his body and minty breath mixing with her own.
"Look at me," Kihyun urged her, not once loosening his grip on her. He could feel the curve of her hips and waist beneath his palms through her clothes. Arena bit her lip and raised her eyes. He was so terrifyingly close to her.
"Let me go." Arena placed her palms against Kihyun's chest that was only covered by a ripped fabric the stylists called a 'shirt'. She was surprised to feel that he actually had some real solid muscle there.
She pushed with the strength of her entire body to get away from him. This scared her. He scared her and he didn't even bulge or move or stagger away, left standing in his spot like a rock.
"Stop trying to push me away!" He didn't want to raise his tone at her again, but Arena wasn't listening to him.
"I AM NOT."
"THEN WHAT ARE YOU DOING RIGHT NOW."
Arena huffed out a breath of hot air, "KIHYUN, PLEASE, I CAN'T BREATHE."
"AND I CAN? YOU THINK I CAN BREATHE WHEN YOU ARE THIS CLOSE TO ME?" he let go of her waist and stepped back, flexing his slim fingers and gathering himself. Arena was left standing against the wall, pressing her lips tightly together.
He stalked back to her, grabbing her hand by the wrist and placing the palm of it on his strongly beating heart.
"You feel that? That is what you do to me! Arena Calder, you make me lose my freaking mind. I can't think straight, I can't breathe, I have a hard time holding myself together and not.." He stopped suddenly, his chest heaving again from the outburst.
"Not what?" shot Arena, pushing away from the wall.
Kihyun stepped closer and cupped her face in his hands, his voice deep, "Not do the things to you that I want to."
Arena shuddered at the feel of his breath on her face as he let go of her cheeks. She took a deep breath and stepped so close to him that she was almost under his nose.
"Yeah? Do you know how I feel? Do you know how hard it was to teach you and then make that choreography to the lyrics, YOUR LYRICS, which made my heart pound so hard it was going to jump out of my freaking chest." Arena took another shuddering breath before continuing, grabbing her hair as she let out her frusturation at him.
"And today, holy god, HAve YOU SEEN YOURSELF? DID YOU SEE MY LEGS TREMBLING? I can't even stand when I see you, Kihyun."
Sooooooo ummmm those lovely facts were now out and about, just floating in the thick air between the two as they looked at each other, worked up from their argument. An argument about their feelings. This was going just delightful.
"You think I can? When you're just over there looking like that?" Kihyun's nose was scrunched, his blood boiling, not caring about the cold winter air.
"Like what?" Arena's eyes were furrowed, her hands in fists, her beanie was off center and cheeks red from the cold as well as from the attraction she felt for him.
Kihyun sighed, as his tone dropped,
"Like perfection."
Arena slowly backed herself back against the wall. She clutched her chest as the two hot tears spilled from the corners of her eyes.
She had expected him to fire at her again but instead what he had said suddenly made her feel weird. How could he say that to her? Arena felt conflicted about her own feelings, being mad at one second and almost sobbing at the other. This wasn't a behaviour that was regular to her. Or him.
The stone cold bad boy whatever attitude and demeanor melted away revealing Kihyun's true caring image as he saw her reaction.
"Oh no, oh no no no no no," Kihyun swallowed anxiously, his adam's apple bobbing and pulled her away from the wall, tightly wrapping his hands around her so that her face was in the crook of his neck, her arms folded against his chest. He could easily inetrlock his hands around her back, even if she was wearing another hoodie again.
Arena took a deep breath, breathing in his scent, Jo Malone cologne as always, but also the actual smell of his skin. He smelled like cinnamon, spice and pinecones. She sniffled and leaned her forehead against his half bared shoulder, his skin warm against her own.
"Please don't cry..." said Kihyun quietly, his voice starting to break. Was it from the cold or the fact that the girl he had just confessed to burst out crying, we'll never know.
Possibly both.
Their body temperatures mixing warmed them both up a little, but not drastically, Arena could still feel the wind blowing past, she didn't want to think what Kihyun was feeling with wearing this pathetic excuse of a shirt
She slowly pulled away to look at him, "Aren't you cold?" she whispered as he wiped her tears with his thumb. Kihyun shook his head no and examined Arena's face.
"Ahhh," Arena tried to hide it away in his neck again, "I'm a mess, don't look at me like that."
His body trembled against hers as he let out a low chuckle, taking ahold of her again, this time not iron gripping her body but holding it gently against his own.. Arena's skin burned under her layers in the places they touched.
"In that case, the most beautiful mess I've ever seen," said Kihyun, his voice low as he hesitated for 3.7 seconds before the following thought: "whatever man just go for it already" ran through his mind and he met Arena's lips.
She was surprised by the sudden impact but didn't object as he kissed her softly, her hands sliding around his waist as he held her stuck against him. A single tear rolled down her cheek onto his nose as she decided to kiss him back.
Kihyun's lips were slightly cracked from the cold, but soft against Arena's own. His tongue made it's way to Arena's as their kiss deepened, the soft and careful kiss turning into one that was more brave and passionate. He pressed her back against the wall as his hands traveled down from where they had held her jaw.
Kihyun gripped her thighs and lifted her up so that they wrapped around his waist and his hands...um well...held onto her butt.
"You'll crush your perfect nose," mumbled Arena as she seperated from him by a millimeter and smiled against his lips.
He chuckled as he found her in liplock again, murmuring, "I don't care," against Arena's mouth.
They were backed up against that wall, lost in each other for the next 5 minutes, Arena's hands behind his neck and tracing circles over his uncercut.
"Kihyun?"
"Mh?"
She chuckled but the tone in her voice was serious, "Put me down, please."
He grinned, "Why?"
Her hands rested on his shoulders patting them softly as he smirked and tried to kiss her again.
"Dudeeee," whined Arena and tried to snake her face away from him so that his lips actually met her neck. Shivers went down her spine at the contact, so that she barely got the next words out.
"We need to go. If anyone sees us then we are both dead."
His head shot up from her neck, lips rosy and a little swollen. Arena's were exactly the same.
"Right." He put her down reluctantly. It hit him immediately when they seperated and were no longer sharing body heat. The impact of Arena's burning skin was now missing and he almost shivered.
"Oh my god, let's go back inside," Arena tugged his sleeve, ready to go back inside so that the flame of her..um... what was she going to call him? He wasn't her boyfriend nor her partner.
Arena was just going to go with "friend+something more."
She kept tugging so the flame of her newly found friend+something more wouldn't go out and he wouldn't freeze to death.
They jogged back inside, not mentioning anything about what had just happened outside, against that wall.
Their first kiss.
Arena coughed as they walked back through one of the holes, Kihyun's hand resting on the small of her back.
He stopped at the sound, "Are you okay?"
She turned to him and smiled, "I'm okay." More than okay actually. Does any of you casually just make out with your UB as well or...?
He took her hand, interlacing their fingers and squeezing even though he knew very well that as soon as they reached the filming site again, they couldn't be stuck together anymore.
They were going to have to stay away from each other just as they had finally given in and done what their hearts and hormones had been telling them to do for the past months.
They let go before walking through the final hole and walking away in different directions, Arena to the table to get her laptop and Kihyun to his members. Arena noticed her own coat lying on her chair and glanced back at Kihyun who still wasn't wearing one. She was just about to go and put one on him as she saw one of the assistants do just that.
Arena bit her lip and and pulled her coat on, cursing herself over. Of course the staff is going to take care of him, she shouldn't now start imagining herself as someone important after just one kiss.
Meanwhile, Kihyun got his coat and was finally starting to warm up again after...yeah. Wonho strode over and gave him hotpacks for his hands as he assessed his groupmate.
"Did you use a new liptint? Your lips look weird," asked Wonho, leaning down to get a closer look. Kihyun swallowed and kneeled down, pretending to retie his shoelaces.
"Kihyun."
As Kihyun came back up, Wonho bro-smacked his shoulders and smirked. Kihyun's wide eyes flew to meet Wonho's in surprise. Could he possibly?
"Is it that obvious?" he asked in a hasty whisper, leaning in to the tall blonde haired guy beside him. Wonho just chuckled in response, hitting his shoulder again and then leading him away to the others. The break still had 9 minutes to go.
"Very."
