《REACH || yoo kihyun》XXXII

"Let's film the last scene and then we can start with the individual shots," yelled the director as they had been shooting for another hour.
Arena shivered from the passing breeze and straightened her legs under her coat. She huffed out a long breath and yawned, covering her mouth with her palm as she did.
As the skin of her hand came into contact of her lips she was reminded of what had happened.
A violent blush painted her cheeks burgundy as she tried to hide them in her white Burberry scarf.
"Ahh stop thinking about it, Arena Anette Calder," mumbled Arena under her breath as she struggled to keep her eyes off him.
Kihyun was breathing hard and concentrating on what the director was saying, not noticing Arena looking at him and then the ground, over and over.
"Oy, choreographer."
Arena's head perked up as she looked around to find the person in need of her services. Her hazel eyes stoppod on one of the cameramen, waving at her to get over her.
They needed her help.
She left her position from the place she had been observing their movements from and tugged her notepad deep into her snug coat pocket.
"The last shot of the legwork is from this angle, but somehow Changkyun keeps getting lost in the shadows, we don't have enough time to start replacing cameras and finding a new angle, can you do anything about the choreo so that he doesn't slip away from the shot?"
Arena nodded and crouched down to assess the situation from the view finding screen, attached to the huge camera the middle aged cameraman was sitting behind. He had glasses with thick blue frames and a knitted hat covering his almost balding head.
She straightened again a few moments later, having just the thing in mind as the solution. "Yeah, I think I can help you somehow, I'll be right back."
Arena took a step away from the camera and started heading towards the group. The sudden weird feeling in the pit of her stomach increasing and growing with each step she took.
Arena cupped her hands over her mouth to make her voice more dominent in the hollow space they resided in.
"Guys, listen up!"
Seven surprised heads turned toward where she was standing. Arena immediately felt anxious with all the sudden attention on her.
She swallowed and kept moving until she reached the middle of the filming site, the exact place the group was waiting in for further instructions.
Eyes were kept on her, including his.
"Umm," muttered Arena as she turned on her heel to find the cameraman she had talked to.
"Ah, yeah okay. We're going to have to make this small change in the choreography."
As the words left her lips she was met with silence and nods. No further questions or objections like in their rehersals and practices. Arena in this situation was their surperior and teacher and she was the one who made the decisions. The only thing they could do was calmly listen and then fulfill her orders.
"Take the positions for the dance break."
They did.
Arena walked around them, her eyes sliding over the chess board like placing. She stopped next to Changkyun and touched his shoulder, "Come stand here."
He did as he was told as Arena moved to the next person in the last row. Kihyun sensed her closening presence and grinned at her.
Arena smiled back anxiously, "You stay where you are, this place is okay for you," her voice was strained as she quickly escaped from him, going around him with a bigger circle than necessary.

Kihyun bit his lip, was she regretting it already? Or was she just embarrased? His fingers pressed against his palms in fists as she watched her dancer's figure hidden in the giant coat stop next to Minhyuk.
Arena was breathing a little weird, it was mismatched and with different lengths. It was uneven as her lungs struggled to keep up with the crisp winter air.
She gently touched Minhyuk's shoulder as well, guiding him to his new place among the positions. Since the corners of the last row were getting lost in the shot, Arena simply got the corners, as in Changkyun and Minhyuk to take a step next to the middle row, leaving Kihyun standing in the middle of the last row alone.
Arena let out a small cough as she signaled to the cameraman with her raised hand, "Is this okay?" The man held up his hand in a thumbs up and nodded, eyes glued to his screen.
Arena smiled and looked back at the guys, their breaths coming in short and their skin slowly starting to get slightly blue from the growing cold as the blood in their bodies rushed to their brains and vital organs.
The lamps on the set were somewhat heated so that they released warmth from them, but that wasn't nearly enough to warm 7 fully grown men. The choreography warmed them up plenty, but didn't help as their hands and legs were turning more stiff with every passing 10 minutes.
"Keep up the good work guys, I'm very proud of you all," Arena smiled and bowed her head as the guys bowed to her in return. "Good luck," she said and turned on her heel, carefully jogging back to where she had been standing all of this time.
Kihyun's blood had heated up the moment she had been close to him again, flowing around his body and making him extremely warm once again. He shuddered at the thought of her toned legs around him.
He was going to do everything he could to get her back where she belonged. With him.
Different sentences slowly formed in the back of his mind and he made sure to write them up later, the words having potential to one day become lyrics.
[behold the birth of Deja Vu]
"Last scene of the video, Action!" yelled the director as the music started up from the speakers behind them.

"What do you mean you want to go back?" Arena's voice shrilled through their hotel room as Naha showed her the website selling cheap plane tickets.
Arena had just arrived back from the shoot, her cold skin starting to burn as the heated air of their room reached the surface of it.
"Arena, what the hell am I doing here? We've been here for a month and all I've been doing is sitting around here as you go and chase your dream. Have you even thought about how the hell we're supposed to finish school like this? Can you even imagine how behind we are on everything?"
Naha was right. The understandment suddenly hit Arena in the face like a speeding truck. She had been too caught up in everything to even think about the fact that as she spent her time in the studio, life and school in Colorado was moving on without her.
She sat down next to her friend who had been somehow been tolerating Arena's annoying ass and waiting for her every day in the hotel room. Arena sighed as she leaned her head onto the bony shoulder of the light-blue haired girl.

Just even thinking about Naha leaving her in this mess of things scared Arena. Naha was her best friend, the one who always had something smart to say or a solution for a problem. The one who supported Arena in everything she did and was the ultimate cheerleader a girl could have.
How was Arena supposed to manage without her? How was she supposed to be alone in this big city, knowing that her best friend is so so far away from her that to just hold her in her arms she would have to get on a plane for a day.
"Please don't go, I can't...do this without you.."
Naha smoothed Arena's hair as her friend's hot tear fell onto her collarbone.
It's not like she wanted to leave. Naha loved getting to rest and chill around, not having to worry about anything. But where was she going to go with this life? Definitely not far when all she did was eat, watch tv and go shopping around the town.
Arena's tears seemed to be falling a lot more these days. She was emotionally and physically so exhausted. Being a choreographer meant giving away basically everything you had inside of yourself to educate others and give them the power of dance. To pass on your gift to bright minds and talented souls. To share this wonder in the world.
The sizzling connection between her and Kihyun was making things worse and more difficult as her mind was confused and her heart acted on it's own accord. What had happened between them couldn't be undone. It had been amazing but it had only left Arena with countless questions that needed answering.
The only one who could support her was Naha. The two were like pillars holding up a roof. If you take one away the entire thing collapses and crumbles to the ground.
"I can talk to the CEO, get you on the stylist or makeup or whatever you want team, we could take online classes together, finish school like that. We're in this together, you're my best friend. I can't live and survive here without you. You know that."
Naha was silent as her chest rose and fell with every breath she took. She knew how much her friend relied on her, and how much she herself did the same. Arena held such a big piece of her heart in her hands that she couldn't possibly leave her alone.
The girls had always felt as if they had had this invisible string attached to them when they were born, linking their future and fate to each other. They had promised each other that it would last until the end of their days
"Please.
I need you."
Arena's voice was on the verge of breaking as she squeezed her eyes shut at the vision of her waking up in the silent hotel room alone every day.
Naha swallowed hard as her dark eyes turned to look at her burdened friend, struggling to keep herself up and running every day by herself.
"Honey, I don't know." Naha sighed and shifted under Arena's head, making the latter raise her head and look the former dead straight in the eyes.
"Think about it. Would you rather go home alone to that boring and awful life at school where your potential gets smothered down by the society or would you rather stay here with me, your best friend and watch as opportunities line up for you."
Arena had a good point, now she only needed to convince Naha to stay and then figure out how the hell she's going to get her on a team. How was she going to keep her promise? If she failed not only will Naha be disappointed in her but also feel like she wasted even more time here with her.
Arena bit her lip in hopes that her friend was oblivious to what was currently running through her mind. She swallowed loudly, her existing but not visible adam's apple moving as she did.
Naha eyed her best friend, deciding to give in to her, but only on her conditions.
"You have a week."
"OH YES THANK YOU," Arena launched herself at her, squeezing and hugging Naha tight. Never planning to let her go and secretly hoping she won't fail.
Her pland held strong when she marched into Starahip Entertainment the very next day, armed with amazing facts and reasons why Naha was perfect for any position available.
Of course it never ever ever eeeevvverrrrr slipped her mind that Kihyun could also be out and about strolling around the building. The possibility of her running into him was as big as the possibility of her running into a wall.
Either she did or she didn't. Easy as pie.
Arena remembered last night when he had texted her to ask if she had gotten back okay and to make sure she hadn't caught a cold from the set.
To be honest Arena did feel somewhat snotty and her throat was sore, but it was nothing she couldn't handle. As long as she wasn't down on the floor with a high fever she was going to be just fine.
Arena and Kihyun had texted for a couple of hours, most of it some random shit and some of it awkward flirting. Of course both had had romantic relationships before in their younger days but seeing as their relationship before the kiss had been difficult. Wavering. They had gone from fan-idol to girl-boy to friends who texted to choreographer-student to salty person-salty person 2 to okaywe'realraight to waitwhatthehellareyouflirtingwithme to people who kissed against a wall.
That moment outside will now be referred to as WK (Wall Kiss).
Arena sighed as she speedened her pace toward the office of Mrs Park. She had called her yesterday immediately after tackling Naha and told her she needed her help.
Arena stopped behind the slim dark wooden door as she raised her knuckles to knock against it 3 times. No answer came with the first 1 but just as she was about to repeat the action the door sprawled open in front of her, revealing a shining Mrs Park.
"Arena! So lovely to see you, come inside."
Arena smiled and stepped in, Mrs Park closing the heavy door behind her. Arena sat down as she explained the situation to Mrs Park who stayed quiet listening the entire time, occasionally speaking up to offer Arena a cup of tea or coffee. Arena chose camomile tea as lately coffee was messing with her brain. The last time she drunk coffee was the day of WK and that was 2 days ago.
"I'll see what I can do about your friend," smiled Mrs Park and wrote something up in her notepad. Arena stayed in the office for a few hours, catching up and chatting with Mrs Park who was now starting to become like her older sister.
Mrs Park's phone started ringing.
"Oh excuse me dear, I have to take this." She said to Arena, an apologetic look on her face. Arena nodded, mouthing that it was nothing. She blew on her tea so she wouldn't burn her tongue. Again. It didn't hurt anymore from when she had done it two days ago..
Actually when she started thinking about it, the pain had disappeared within a few hours, which had been really odd since that never happens when you burn your tongue. The tongue is one of the strongest but also one of the most sensitive muscles in the entire human body. Arena scoffed silently at her dumb thought that it was Kihyun's kiss and cooling saliva that had numbed her pain. But the more she thought about it, the more it seemed that that it had been exactly what had happened.
Mrs Park's voice brought Arena back to the reality, away from her thoughts that had once again gone back to think of WK. She squeezed her eyes shut and mentally banged her head against a brick wall. She had to stop thinking about it.
"Wait, what? What do you mean you're here?"
Arena raised her eyes to look at Mrs Park, the latter staring straight back at Arena. Arena hadn't told her what had happened, but Mrs Park seemed to know that Kihyun and Arena weren't just mere acquaintances.
"Who," mouthed Arena silently, still completely oblivious who was walking towards the room she was in right now.
"Kihyun," mouthed Mrs Park back just as 4 loud knocks sounded on the door. The two women immediately flicked their eyes to the door, the phone still next to Mrs Park's ear.
"Are you in your office? I'm behind the door," Arena could now hear his voice from the other side of phone. And the door.
Arena pursed her lips as the exact thought of "Oh SHIT," went through her mind. She jumped up, her eyes widened. She wasn't ready to look him in the eyes again, and there was no way she could escape now that he was behind the door.
Mrs Park looked at her questioningly and Arena shook her head so hard that a small flash of pain hit her forehead.
"Yes, I'm inside. Just a moment," said Mrs Park into the phone then whispering to Arena, "Climb behind my table." To Arena's luck the table was covered from all the sides it should be and anyone could only see her there if they came to stand on the other side.
She had just pulled her leg behind it when she heard the office door open. Arena silently leaned her head back and squeezed her eyes shut, gripping her tea cup tightly between her fingers as she heard his footsteps enter the room and the door close.
[i'm crying at my bad drawing but just imagine Arena hiding behind that table like this]
Arena breathed very slowly and very quietly, counting to 4 as she breathed in and to 8 as she breathed out. It also helped to calm her beating heart. What the heck was he doing here? And did he have to show up at the exact moment she was trying to drink tea? Could he have possibly known that she was here?
Arena was confused and continued her controlled breathing, afraid that if her heart didn't slow they would hear it thundering behind that desk.
As soon as Kihyun had stepped through that door he had known that something wasn't right. The air felt tense and anxious. He couldn't understand what it was exactly, but he had every intention of not finding out. It was none of his business, he was only there to talk about some things. Kihyun eyed the room before directing his eyes back to Mrs Park as he sat down in the exact same spot Arena had just been sitting in. He crossed his ankles as he spoke.
"I came to discuss some things."
***
"What the hell took you so long?" Naha's voice was not happy when Arena finally stepped through the front door, 2 hours later.
Arena tossed her bag down and snuggled out of her heavy coat, "I got caught up."
Naha crossed her hands over her chest, her messy bun wobbling cutely on the top of her head.
"Well it was all good, Mrs Park said she would call me about you and stuff but THEN Kihyun just appeared out of nowhere, I had to hide behind a freaking desk for an hour until he finished his talk. The most part that annoys me is that it wasn't even something urgent but random shit he came to just chat about."
"Wait what?" Naha's eyes softened as Arena fell face first into her pillow, her hands and legs flailing everywhere as she did. "Why the hell did you hide?"
Arena sighed into the pillow and muffled a reply, "Because I was scared to face him. Because I feel like a 15 year old teenager again."
Naha walked around the room, hanging up Arena's coat and lifting up her bag from the floor, placing it on their dressing table. Naha totally felt what Arena was feeling, she herself wasn't better in any way, if the same thing had happened to her and Wonho, she would have 10000% hid behind that very same desk just as Arena did.
She sighed and rubbed Arena's spine, the action making Arena groan as Naha's fingers reached her skin. The tension in her back started to release as she became more relaxed with her best friend. No one could bother them here.
And Oh boy was she wrong when Kihyun showed up behind their very hotel door the next day. Arena had gotten a call from Mrs Park late last night, saying that the CEO would like to meet Naha as soon as possible. The girls had been so hyped they had order tons of room service like on their first night in Korea.
