《Need A Bandage For That?, Ukai X Reader》2 Sense of humor

Luckily the first day of work was spent with introducing me to the school infrastructure and the school staff so my arrival right on the clock wasn't much of a problem.
So they were from Karasuno.
I thought to myself noticing students with the same uniforms as the two boys had.
The office of the previous nurse was small but cozy for one person. I started my work by checking the inventory and noting down in my notebook anything that was missing. Luckily not much was missing, just some bandages and gauze which were probably the things most used in a school setting.
I ordered the needed things online in a large quantity so I wouldn't have to do that in another month or so. Although I didn't know how much kids get hurt in high school but better be safe than sorry.
What I didn't account for was that someone would get hurt before my order arrived. It was the second day and someone was already knocking at my door.
"Come in." I announced loud enough to be heard on the other side.
My eyes met at the same level as the boy's eyes even though I was sitting and he was standing in front of me holding his palm.
His bright orange hair was another staple of his appearance other than his height.
"I was running and someone tripped me." He explained.
"N,o I didn't! You fell yourself dumbass!" I heard someone shout from behind the door.
"Is that your friend?" I asked assessing his scratched palm.
"Yeah, something like that." He chuckled.
Shit, I don't have any bandages yet.
I tried to think about what should I use instead but I definitely needed to get bandages right after.
"I don't have any bandages now so I'm going to put some cotton pads and tape it down okay?" I smiled at him.

He gave me a thumbs up and a big smile as a response.
I did as I told him and then sent him out to the class.
I looked at the time and luckily, it was time for a lunch break so I could use it to get the bandages.
I decided that the best option was the store I visited earlier. I knew where that was already and didn't have to look for a pharmacy in this town and risk getting lost again.
Familiar dink sounded in my ears and I was met with Ukai whose attention was glued to the newspaper he was reading.
"Hello." He said out of instinct hearing the automatic door open but it was clear his mind was somewhere else.
"Hello, Ukai." I smiled.
His reading material slowly moved down out off his face. He observed my nurse uniform attentively and stopped at my eyes.
"Oh, it's you." He didn't reciprocate my happy attitude and rather had a bored tone.
"Yeah, I was wondering, do you have some bandages?" I chuckled anxiously.
He squinted his eyes like I was playing a trick on him or something.
"You're a nurse right?"
I nodded.
"And you don't have bandages?" He said sarcastically.
I was confused by his behavior.
"I feel sorry for those children to be at the hands of a nurse like you." He laughed, clearly amused with his sense of humor.
An irk mark appeared on my forehead.
I know it may be weird but he doesn't have to make fun of me.
After he stopped laughing, he reached his hand under the counter and pulled out a pack of bandages.
I started shuffling in my wallet for money but he pushed the box towards me.
"You don't have to pay. Take it as an apology for my joke." He smirked.

I squinted my eyes because I'd rather have him directly apologize than to bribe me but I didn't have time to argue. So I only thanked him and ran out of the store so I'd be in school before the lunch break ended.
No other injuries have happened that day so I was left looking at the unopened pack of bandages thinking that being humiliated by Ukai was even useless in the end.
I was rewatching the memory of his appearance in my mind while I was waiting in my office. He was quite good-looking even over his unusual look. I've always had a thing for blondes. Even if his hair was clearly dyed.
But why was he so arrogant and mean. This bothered me a lot. I was so nice to him and he even seemed bothered by my presence at his store. I could never be with a person like him.
