《Pink and Yellow - Trimberly》Chapter 7

"I missed you too." I whispered back to the Latina.
I didn't fight back the tears that were threatening to come out. They were tears of joy and relief. I felt relieved she finally was talking to me again. I suddenly feel the urge to protect her and keep her safe. I want her to feel safe with me and to never leave again.
When the hug broke, we gazed into each other's eyes and this time, the Yellow Ranger's eyes weren't filled with fear or anger. They were soft and kind. I cupped her face with both of my hands and used my thumbs to wipe off her tears. She gave a genuine smile and I did the same.
I laid back down on the bed and pulled Trini with me. It was around 3 in the morning but we weren't in any rush to fall asleep. Tomorrow we would skip school and do anything we wanted just for the hell of it.
The smaller girl shifted closer to me and rested her head on my shoulder. She hugged my torso then closed her eyes. I placed a kiss on her forehead and drew shapes on her arm. We stayed in the position for a while before she broke the comfortable silence.
"I'm sorry, Kim." She mumbled in my neck making me shiver.
"For what?"
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.
She looked up at me and bit her lip before continuing. "I'm sorry for shutting you out... all of you guys actually... but mostly you. I've been an asshole and I should've come to you for help."
I ran my fingers through my hair and sighed. "It's ok. It was hard. But it's ok and I understand."
"You do?"
"Yeah. It's normal to shut people out in difficult times. But just know that you do have people you can count on."
"Thank you, Kimberly. Like a lot." She smiled.

"Of course." I whispered. "Do you want to tell me what has been bothering you lately? It's perfectly fine if you don't."
She hesitated and took a deep breath. "No, I think I want to wait for tomorrow. I'm enjoying this and I don't want to ruin it."
I chuckled. "Alright, thats fine with me.
After a few minutes, the Latina'a breathing was slow and steady indicating she had already fallen asleep. I looked down at her and saw how perfect she was. As long as she was with me, she would be safe.
It wasn't long before sleep took over me as well.
-
I was awoken by faint mumbling and whimpering next to me. I was at first confused, not being fully awake. It then everything hit me at once and I remembered everything that happened tonight.
I looked over at Trini. She was squirming and mumbling something inaudible. I said her name a couple times but she was still asleep. I called her name once more and shook her. This time, she immediately sat up and looked around the room making sure there was no danger. She was about to jump out of bed but I caught her wrist before she could do anything. She panicked but then saw me and relaxed slightly.
"K-Kimberly?" She stuttered.
"Yeah? Yeah I'm here, Trini, you're ok." I said in a calming tone.
"I- I um... She- it..." She stumbled over her words.
"You were having a nightmare? You're covered in sweat."
She nodded and glanced at the time. It was 5 o'clock. She didn't get much rest and neither did I. I didn't know what to do. I wanted to help her but didn't know exactly how. Are these nightmares a common thing with her?
"Are you ok?" She asked.
I chuckled softly. "I think I should be the one asking you that... Are you ok?"

"Yeah... Yeah I'm fine I guess." She hesitated then continued. "I've been having nightmares. A lot of them. There isn't a night where I don't have them I think. And they are mostly about-"
"-Rita?" I cut her off and she nodded.
"And you..." She whispered.
I gulped. "Can you tell me what happens?"
"Y-You either get seriously hurt or die in them..." She began. "You're in every one of my nightmares. You're scared and you hate me then Rita comes along and kills you."
"I don't hate you. Do you know that?"
"I do now, yes."
"No matter what happens, I don't think I could ever hate you. Ok?"
She nods before whispering. "Ok..."
"Do you think you can go back to sleep?" I asked.
She looked at the time again and shook her head. "No, I don't think so. And... And I don't want to have another nightmare."
I pulled her into a hug. She's been suffering and it's partially my fault. She thought I hated her all this time? There's no way I actually could. I killed me to see her like this. She's confused and in pain and she doesn't deserve it. Not one bit. Just the thought of her being hurt makes my blood boil.
I got up off the bed and flip the light switch on. I was about to take a step forward but saw the broken glass on the hardwood floor.
"Fuck... I completely forgot about that-"
"-Language, Miss Hart." The shorter girl playfully glared at me.
I rolled my eyes and smirked. "Whatever, Miss Norris."
She laughed softly and stood up. "We should get that cleaned up."
"Oh, ok. I was honestly going to say we forget about it and get dressed."
"Wow, really? Even I wouldn't do something that stupid. What if someone steps on it, huh? That's a bunch of glass shards going straight into their foot."
"Ok fine." I sighed.
"If you were the one to step on it then I think I'd laugh... Then see if you were ok." She smirked.
"Thanks, I feel so loved."
I laughed then bent down and carefully picked up the sharp glass. The Yellow Ranger did the same and before we knew it, the mess was all cleaned up. I changed into some clothes and let Trini borrow shorts and a shirt that had the least amount of pink on it. It was a black v-neck with a small pink pocket. Pink isn't her favorite but she tolerates it only if it's mine. I think that's kinda cute.
The donut shop doesn't open until 6:30 and it's about 5:30 so we have an hour. We couldn't go downstairs in case we woke up one of my family members. They didn't know Trini was here and I'd like to keep it that way.
"Let's just go out the window and take a walk somewhere." I suggested.
"But won't your parents know you're gone and skipped school?"
I shrugged. "Nah. They usually get up, get ready, and leave. They are pretty busy and I understand that. They won't know I'm gone." I winked at the shorter girl and could've sworn I saw her blush.
"Uh... Ok. Ok so yeah let's go then." She smirked and walked over to the window. "Oh and I broke your lock by the way."
"Awesome. Thanks." I said sarcastically.
"Ok, well if you left it unlocked this wouldn't have happened."
"It's not like I can lock it anymore, can I?" I rolled my eyes playfully and opened the window.
We both jumped out of the bedroom and landed pretty smoothly. We jogged to the front of the house and the Yellow Ranger turned back and looked at me.
She gave me signature smirk and said:
"Where to, Princess?"
