《Pink and Yellow - Trimberly》Chapter 5

Miss Norris, Kimberly, and I sat at our desks in awkward silence. We all glanced at each other a few times wondering who would break the silence first. Once I figured that no one would be talking any time soon, I ripped of a sheet of paper and began to draw.
I was cleaned up except for my yellow stained shirt and blue jeans. I don't really care for these clothes too much so it wasn't a big deal. On the other hand, Kimberly made it a big deal. I'm still processing how she ended up in detention in the first place and thinking what was going on in her head.
Miss Norris was busy sorting through papers and Kimberly was playing with her pencil. This was going to be a long hour and I can't stand complete silence. I pulled out my phone and earbuds to pass the time. Unfortunately, I only listened a little less than half of the song before someone rudely interrupted it.
"Trini, put the headphones away. This is detention, you aren't allowed to listen to music or play on your phone." Miss Norris spoke.
"Got it..." I whispered rolling my eyes.
After a few moments, I felt the Pink Ranger's eyes on me. Looking in any direction other than the direction she was in, I avoided eye contact hoping she would get the hint a look away. I continued drawing and heard her folding paper. She threw it at me and I immediately caught it without looking up from my drawing.
I unfolded the paper that was made into a small ninja star. After I read the note that was written inside, I crumbled up the piece of paper and threw it in my bookbag. She wanted me to talk to her but I wasn't having any of it.

I told myself I'd wait a week to talk to the other four Rangers. It's the second day of detention and shit already messed up. Her and me in the same room for an hour is not helping either. I made a mental note to slap the Pink Ranger in the face for standing up for me.
Miss Norris walked over to my desk and gave me a lined piece of paper. "I want you to write 'I will not disturb the teacher in class' on each line, front and back."
I scoffed before I took the paper and began to write the stupid sentences. Is this all the sudden 3rd grade or something?
"Now, Kimberly, I want you to write 'I will not talk back to the teacher' on each line front and back." Miss Norris said handing Kimberly a sheet of paper before returning to her desk.
"Awesome." Kimberly mumbled sarcastically.
"What was that Miss Hart?"
"Nothing." Kimberly gave her a fake smile and started to write.
As I was writing, I thought how absolutely ridiculous this is. Why is she being so hard on Kimberly now? Ya think she'd have a nice therapy session with her like she did with me. We're just messed up teenagers who happen to be gifted with supernatural abilities. Sometimes I wonder if it's a curse, accidentally breaking anything in your hand if you give it the lightest squeeze.
I turned around to glance at the clock behind me. It was 4 o'clock which meant only 30 more minutes of hell.
I finished my "punishment" and smiled to myself. I then began to fold the lined paper into an airplane and threw it in the direction of the teacher's desk. She was too focused on her papers to see the paper airplane flying towards her head. It hit her on the forehead making her jump. She picked it up off her desk and glared at me. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Kimberly bite her lip to stifle a laugh.

"I finished." I chuckled.
She unfolded the paper airplane and glared at me once more. She then shook her head and placed my paper in a folder. The teacher looked at me then Kimberly and raised an eyebrow.
"You two are friends, yes?" She asked.
The Pink Ranger ran her fingers through her short, dark hair before answering. "Uh yeah." She stole a quick glance at me and continued. "Yeah we are pretty good friends."
I stayed silent wondering where this was heading. I became nervous and started to squirm in my seat. Needing something to occupy my hands, I took out a pencil from my bookbag and fiddled with it.
"Were you two planning on being in detention together?" Miss Norris wondered.
The Pink Ranger looked at me then shook head. "No, this wasn't planned." She looked at me again and turned her attention to the teacher.
Miss Norris raised an eyebrow and looked back and forth between me and the other girl. I grew so confused as to what was happening.
"Miss Kwan, is everything alright? You haven't even looked in your friend's direction."
I tensed up. "Everything is fine, Miss Norris. No need to get all detective on us."
"Ok." She said.
A few minutes went by before the teacher spoke again. "We are doing project in class. If you were paying attention..." She glanced at me and I fought the urge to roll my eyes. "You will be put in pairs and I've already chosen the students. I'll explain more on the assignment tomorrow but I wanted to let you two know that you are paired together."
*Snap*
Miss Norris and Kimberly looked at me and saw the pencil I was playing with snapped in half. I most certainly did not want to be paired with the Pink Ranger. That meant I'd have to talk directly to her. I couldn't do that. Not yet anyway.
"Everything alright, Miss Kwan?" Miss Norris asked.
"Peachy."
The teacher looked behind me at the clock and saw it was time to leave. "Dismissed."
I began to pack my bag and found the note that Kimberly threw at me earlier. I opened it once more and straightened it out. It read:
Meet me tomorrow after detention at the abandoned goldmine before training starts.
I look up at Kimberly but only to find an empty desk. I finished packing up and walked out the door heading for the school's exit. I ran home and flopped on my bed, looking up at the ceiling where Rita was that day a year ago. I thought a moment before drifting off to sleep. The only thing that was on my mind was Kimberly Hart.

Party Leveling
{A new notification has arrived.} In front of a few people, these hologram-looking messages appeared and changed their lives in entirely different forms. Things such as growing stronger, becoming smarter, feeling more agile, became possible within short periods of time from that point onwards. The one who regretted his weak healing abilities for years began to chase after the magic powers that could turn reason and sense upside down while keeping his goal, this duty to the wrongs he committed. The other one, who complained about his lack of strength, strove towards the path of an unbeatable champion to protect those he held dear. When the person who had everything found a path to desire for more, not fearing the consequences and the obstacles, he also began to walk onwards to a new life. And among them, the one who walked aimlessly but also never stepped down on the choices he made along the way, was the one who couldn’t be ignored nor disrespected by anyone. The “Player” system that they all obtained, and which granted them several abilities, knowledge and directions, was also the beginning of an entire new era in this world where monsters, magic and technology, were already common and wide-spread. There’s not a single hero, but after committing mistakes after mistakes, learning from the painful and thorny path that they take, and growing as people with the people that surround them, then someday... there will certainly be saviors. [Quick reminder that this novel is also being published in Webnovel(dot)com and ScribbleHub(dot)com]

The Tears of Kas̆dael
It was just supposed to be a game. A really, really great game, yes - but a game. Instead, Jasper got his heart ripped out by a brooding goddess and awoke to find himself in another world. No weapons, no skills. Naked. Trapped in a world full of ancient horrors, where gods and monsters still roam the earth, Jasper is forced to adapt quickly or die - and he's not ready to die. Good thing he's a mage. This is a high-fantasy novel with light LitRPG elements. It's not super-crunchy, but the system is an important part of the story. There is some light cursing and gore, but this is not a Grimdark novel. There will also be no harem. The current schedule is chapters on M-W-F of around 2000-2500 words, as well as occasional bonus chapters that provide background or insights into side characters. This is my first real attempt at writing a full novel, but the story is based on a world that I've been creating and re-creating since I was a child. I have an extensive "history" and religion, and even a semi-cohesive language system worked out, which will hopefully slowly shine through as the story progresses. I want to avoid having too many info-dumps, so I may from time to time post a bonus lore chapter that will explain some of the background for any who are interested.

When book one ends, "B2" will begin, and so on throughout the series. I know how the series ends, but getting the characters from here to there is the fun part. :-) Starting March 22, 2022, chapter releases are 4 pm ET Tuesdays and Thursdays.
