《Pathetic || Seth Clearwater》Nine

When dawn rose over the mountain and Bella emerged with a wolf and a vampire from her tent, it was to an empty clearing. The fresh snow sparkles under the weak sun. She looked around, spotting Seth on a stone ledge above them in his wolf form, watching the forest. Ellis was no where to be seen.
"Where's Ellis?" Bella asked. Edward smiled slightly and pointed to a pile of snow at the bottom of a tree. If you looked closely then you could just about see a humanoid figure in hidden amongst the snow.
Ellis shook the snow off his head and stood up, brushing the snow from his clothes. He had spent the night thinking. He still couldn't understand why Seth had gotten so angry. Yeah he was using them, but the Cullen's knew and they did not care. So why was Seth so angry? He just couldn't comprehend.
Jacob sniggered. "Great snowman impersonation Ellis". Ellis gave him a small dry smile, not in the mood for joking.
Seth looked over and gazed at Ellis's snow covered appearance. The snow cling to his hair and clothes making him look like he had come out of a winter wonderland. He looked like some ice king in all white, purple and black. Seth snorted and turned his head away. Ellis brushed a few snowflakes off his face.
Bella and Edward had moved away from the group, clearly wanting some privacy. Ellis took the hint and retreated back into the forest, out of ear shot. He heard the padding of giant paws following and turned to meet Seth's big honey eyes. He was carrying his jeans in his mouth and Ellis turned as he shifted.
"What do you want?" He sighed. "I thought you were angry at me".
There was a moments silence before Seth groaned. "Yes I am angry at you but I can't stay away. Besides I have a feeling that it will begin to get messy back there and I really don't want to be in the drama".

Ellis turned and watched Seth lean against a tree five meters away. "I'm not human", Ellis began. Seth snorted. "But I've watched them. I don't remember much about my human life, facts at the minimum". He raised his gaze, locking eyes with the other boy. Honey brown against blood red. "This is not an excuse. I have been using you. But that is because I don't know any other way. All the humour, the sarcasm and humanity is from watching tv and observing people on the streets. I don't know how to have friends or family".
Seth licked his lips and Ellis caught the action, eyes darting around his body. He stood straight and crept forward slowly, making Ellis feel like he was the prey for once. "Well, maybe I can teach you", Seth smiled slowly. "Teach you how to love and be loved. Teach you how to be human".
Ellis raised his eyes, being slightly shorter, meeting Seth's piercing gaze head on. "I am a leach", he warned. "I will take all your love and desire and never say thank you. I will end up feeding off you until you're dry and empty. Will you handle that?"
Seth beamed wildly, exposing sharp canines, something predatory and wolfish in his face. "I will never ask you to" he whispered and stroked Ellis' cheek with the back of his hand. Ellis closed his eyes as fire met ice and fought the urge to draw back. Seth's touch left a burning trail as he brushed stray snowflakes off Ellis' chin. They melted in his hands, dropping water on to his lips.
"What are you doing?" Ellis gasped. He felt weird and powerless. Something unfamiliar was churning in his stomach. Was this a feeling? But what feeling?
"I'm wondering what you are", Seth answered. "Because you're not like anyone I know". His hand stopped on Ellis' chin, cupping it gently.

Ellis opened his eyes only to find Seth a few inches away. "Is that a good thing?" He asked and for a moment a small shred of fear stabbed through him. The feeling caught him by surprise and he jumped back, landing several feet away.
Seth burst out laughing. "Man, you're so easy to read".
"No I'm not", Ellis hissed, annoyed at Seth's humour.
"Oh But you are. You're embarrassed. If your heart was still beating then I'd bet that you'll be blushing so hard right now". Seth was right. Embarrassment was making itself known to Ellis as it curled up in his stomach. He bared his teeth at the chuckling wolf boy, who bared his right back. Ignoring him, Ellis strode past him and back towards the clearing. There was a small sound and Seth padded up beside him, his trousers in his mouth.
"Stop it" Ellis commanded as Seth's tail began to wag. "Honestly you're a puppy". Seth's golden brown head nudged him in the side. He was obviously having way too much fun with this. "Bugger off you hairy twat", Ellis complained.
Seth choked a bit as he heard what the rest of the pack was thinking and let out his howling laughter, which was even worse in wolf form. Ellis cringed and skipped forward only for Seth to catch up again.
"Stop Looking so smug", he whined. "Fuck off you mutt".
Seth couldn't stop himself from smiling. Who knew that Ellis' true personality was such open book. Honestly, it seemed to him that Ellis was just like him. A boy trying to be something he's not. Seth couldn't wait to unlock more of this vampires secrets.

Witchbone: The Goblins Winter
Themes found in these stories include friendship, found family, defying negative expectations, trying to figure out how to be a force for good in your corner of the world, doing heroic things even if you don't look or feel like a hero, and that being different isn't necessarily fatal. Summary: A spell of arctic weather. A mysterious death. The reading of a will. Strange tracks in the snow. Eleven-year-old Danny Hallow accepts his life, such as it is. His father is dead, his mother left years ago. His three Keepers are the only people aware of Danny's erratic and not-very-impressive psychic abilities. He has no friends, he's been suspended from school, and he's responsible for the life of a small brown bat that's ended up in his care. When Danny's estranged Uncle Enoch dies under mysterious circumstances, he and his Keepers are called to the town of Eddystone, New Hampshire for the reading of the man's will. Traveling four hundred miles from his dreaded hometown to attend, Danny is happy to get away, possibly inherit something interesting- and maybe find out more about his family while he's there. Arriving at the crumbling family estate of Gnomewood Home, he finds it to be hauntingly familiar, a bit creepy, oddly comforting, and possibly alive. When his uncle's will reveals that he's inherited Gnomewood and everything in it, he's determined to stay and make a happier life for himself in Eddystone, somehow. But at Gnomewood, he finds more questions than answers to his family's secrets. Disturbing old memories come to him in dreams. His psychic abilities begin to grow stronger, and as a result he becomes aware that a horde of cryptic creatures are plaguing the town of Eddystone, seemingly drawn out by the spell of an unusually frigid February. Toothy little goblins that are sneaky, vicious, and hungry. Goblins that take a particular interest in Danny. Will the emergence of the alien, and potentially dangerous, power he's inherited from his peculiar family tree help Danny survive the goblin infested winter, inadvisable attempts to befriend a terrifying boy with silver eyes, and a new school? Only if he learns to control them before they put him and everyone around him in danger. Before they convince some people that he should never have been allowed to exist at all. Before he becomes just another twisted tale in his family's bizarre history, kept hidden for centuries within the ivy-covered walls of Gnomewood Home.
