《The Banshee (Jasper Hale x OC)》Chapter 7

"I like this one" said Jessica, holding up a pink dress.
On Friday evening we went to Port Angeles for dress shopping.
I texted Alice about it, and she made me promise not to buy a dress, since she was taking care of that.
"Okay, I like this one, it makes my boobs look good" said Jessica.
'This is the worst, I hate shopping'
Some guys passed by the window and were looking at us.
'So disgusting...'
"Bella, Emma. What do you think?" asked Jessica.
"That looks great" said Bella.
"You said that about, like, the last five dresses, though" said Jessica.
"That's because they were all pretty good" I said.
"You're not really into this, are you?" asked Angela.
"I actually really just want to go to this bookstore" said Bella.
"And I found this really cool art store for new art supplies" I said.
"We'll meet you guys at the restaurant?" asked Bella.
"Are you sure?" asked Angela.
"Yeah, yeah. We'll see you in a minute" said Bella and we left the shop.
~
"Here's my stop. I don't know how long it will take though" I said.
"How about we meet each other at the restaurant?" she asked and I nodded. "See you soon"
I looked at the art supplies. I was thinking about painting again, that had been a while.
I looked at all the colours and brushes. I stopped for a second when I felt that cold feeling again...
'No, it's just in your head, Emma. Don't pay attention to it'
I bought the things I needed to paint again and left the store.
It was getting dark... I began walking towards the restaurant.
But I had the feeling I was being followed.
'Please just leave me alone...'
"Hey baby" said a strange guy. He grabbed my wrist and made me look at him.
"Let me go" I said.
"Now, why would I do that, honey?" he said.
"I believe she told you to let her go" said a familiar voice.
"Jasper" I said, I was so happy to see him.
Jasper grabbed the man's arm and got it off my wrist.
"Hey, calm down man! Just having some fun" said the guy and took a step backwards.
"Get out of my sight" threatened Jasper and the man ran away.
Jasper turned around and looked at me.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"Yes. Thank you" I said and rubbed my wrist, he had grabbed me pretty tightly.
"You're hurt" he said, he was getting angry.
"It's fine, really. It's nothing" I said. "I'm just happy you're here"

He calmed down a bit.
"Are you here alone?" he asked.
"No, I'm meeting Bella and 2 of her friends at the restaurant" I said and he nodded.
"Are you here alone?" I asked and he nodded.
"I was thinking about buying some new music" he said and showed the bag of cd's.
"Really, western music? You're confirming the stereotype, cowboy" I said and he laughed.
"I'll walk you to the restaurant" he said and held my hand.
"I'm actually not that hungry" I said.
"Do you want me to take you home?" he asked and I nodded. "You should call Bella to let her know"
I told Bella I bumped into Jasper, she had met up with Edward. When I told Jasper he was surprised.
~
We walked to his car and he began to drive.
"I really should talk to the doctors to convince them that I should get my licence" I sighed and he turned up the heat in the car.
"They won't let you?" he asked.
"Nope, until the frequency of my episodes towns down, I am prohibited from driving any vehicle" I complained. "It's really inconvenient"
"I can imagine that" he smiled. "If you ever need a ride, I don't mind giving you one"
"I'll keep that in mind" I laughed. "But, I've been sleeping better lately. I've been feeling better than I've felt in the past year. So maybe, soon, I can get my license"
I turned up the music in the car and I laughed when I heard Western music.
"Now you really can't blame me for calling you cowboy" I said and he laughed.
"What do you listen to then?" he asked.
"I don't have one favourite. I like classical, pop,..." I said.
"What do you listen to when you put your headset on?" he asked.
"What is this? 20 questions?" I asked and he smiled.
"Would that be so bad?" he asked.
"Guess not. Well, currently, I'm listening to Japanese music" I said and he was surprised.
"Really, you know Japanese?" he asked.
"Only a little bit" I said. "I haven't been practicing it since my mom died"
"You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to" he said and I smiled.
"It's fine. I miss her, so that makes me sad. But, I have a lot of good memories with my mom, so those make me happy" I said. "Do you remember your parents? Before Dr. and Mrs. Cullen adopted you?"
"Not really, they died when I was young" he said. "But, I'm grateful to Carlisle and Esme. They are good parents"

"I'm happy you found a home" I said and he smiled.
'His smile is so beautiful'
~
When he dropped me off, the house was empty. Charlie wasn't home and Bella wasn't back yet.
"Eh, Jasper?" I asked before he left. "I don't want to bother you, but... could you... could you stay until Bella or Charlie come home?"
He got out of the car and walked to me. "Of course, I don't mind"
I dropped the art stuff in my room and ran back downstairs.
"Do you want something to eat?" I asked and he shook his head.
"But don't keep that from eating yourself" he said and I made some toast.
But I felt the cold feeling again, stronger this time... like someone I had met died...
I dropped my glass and Jasper ran to me.
"Emma, are you okay?" he asked and he touched my face. "What happened?"
"I... I don't know..." I whispered. "I just..."
'He'll think I'm crazy... I can't tell him...'
"Tell me, you look scared" he said and I felt his thumb on my cheek.
"You'll think I'm crazy. I think I'm crazy" I whispered.
"You're not crazy, and I promise I won't think it" he said and I wrapped my arms around his waist, burying my head in his chest cold chest.
I felt his arms around me and he touched my hair, whispering in it.
"I promise I won't think you're crazy, Emma" he whispered.
"I just... it felt like someone died... someone I met died..." I said and he pulled me a little closer. "But I can't feel that, can I? It's not possible, it's just in my head, isn't it?"
"Maybe it's not" he whispered. "I believe you"
~
After a while we cleaned my mess up and I managed to eat a little bit.
He walked with me to my room and he smiled at all the drawings that were hanging in my room. But then... I remembered something...
'When I was hugging Jasper, he didn't have a heartbeat...'
"Emma? What's wrong" he asked.
"How do you always know when something is wrong?" I asked and I grabbed my head. "Why... why didn't you have a heartbeat?"
He froze and I sat down on my bed.
"I'm going crazy, aren't I? Just like my dad" I said and he sat down next to me. "I'm going crazy, just like him"
"No, you're not" said Jasper and pulled me closer to him. "You're not going crazy"
"No, I am, Jasper!" I shouted and stood up. "I'm imagining feeling death all around me, I'm imagining that you don't have a heartbeat, I'm imagining that my dad had red eyes and kept biting me so that he wouldn't lose me like my mom! All of that can't be true!"
My room began to tremble, I was breathing heavily.
"Emma, take a deep breath" said Jasper.
"No... no! It can't all be true, I'm just going mad" I said.
"You're not!" he shouted and I looked at him. "You didn't imagine anything"
"I don't understand..." I whispered and he looked down.
"I'm not human anymore" he said and softly took my hands. "I'm a vampire, but I promise you. I'm not going to hurt you"
"Vampire?" I asked and he nodded. "You're not messing with me, are you?"
"I promise you I'm not" he whispered and let his cold forehead rest against mine.
"Your family?" I asked.
"Them too, but we don't live on human blood. It's why our eyes have a different colour. It's been harder for me, since I haven't been living on animal blood as long as the others" he admitted.
"My father?" I asked, I took a step back and rolled up my sleeves.
Jasper softly touched each scar, he looked angry.
"Probably too" he said. "If you were a normal human, it would've changed you"
"I'm not a normal human?" I asked and he went over the scars on my other arm.
"Carlisle said that your mom was a Banshee he met 90 years ago. So he thinks you might be one too" he said.
"90 years? My mom was older than 90 years?" I asked and he nodded.
"Are you scared?" he asked.
"Can't you tell?" I asked and he smiled.
"I can sense people's emotions and influence them. But I'm not doing that right now" he said and I hold his hand.
"I am scared, but not of you" I admitted. "I know you would never hurt me"
He smiled and wrapped his arms around me.
I looked at how he softly touched every bite mark on my arms. And I noticed his bear arms for the first time.
"You have the same scars" I whispered and touched them.
"I didn't have the same upbringing as the others" he said. "I'll tell you about it later, I promise"
"So, I'm not crazy?" I asked and he chuckled.
"You're not" he said and kissed my forehead. "You're not crazy, Emma Marshall"
I felt relieved and let the tears fall...

Occultus Draconem
In an ancient time of Kings and Queens, the Humans lived in harmony with the great beings that roamed the Earth. No kingdom was more peaceful than Cadmus, where the Cadmians existed beside the greatest creatures of all, the Dragons. The ruler of Cadmus, King Anguis, although very young, was much beloved. He never turned a deaf ear to the Humans or Dragons of Cadmus, and the kingdom flourished. Under the protection of the Dragons and their Empress, Queen Maeve, paired with Anguis' extraordinary ability to keep peace, the lands prospered and grew tenfold within a few short years. Cadmus and Draconia became the greatest kingdoms known to exist. But it was not meant to last. King Anguis, barely into adulthood, was murdered in the night. His death rocked Cadmus to its core, and the Cadmians mourned with the Draconians, grieving for their beloved King. As Prince Agni, Anguis' younger brother, assumed the throne, he declared war on the Dragons, announcing that the kingdom would be Cleansed. He enlisted a brutal army of elite hunter-assassins known as the Enforcers to carry out the Cleansing, and the kingdom was consumed by a shadow of tyranny. Cadmus became a war zone, and the land of Draconia was devastated. A group of survivors of the Cleansing, Dragons disguised in Human form, created a secret society known as the Occultus Draconem. As King Agni's power grew and the Enforcers became more brutal than ever, a rebellion stirred. The Occultus Draconem began stepping in to stop the Cleansings, fighting back for the freedom of the Dragons and swearing to bring peace back to Draconia and Cadmus. But how can they succeed without the heir to the Draconian throne?
