《The Banshee (Jasper Hale x OC)》Chapter 5

-Alice POV-
I was happy that Emma began to trust me. I followed her and Carlisle to his office.
"Jasper said she had a panic attack" I said and Carlisle nodded.
"Emma, do you mind taking off your shirt? It's so that I can take your blood pressure" he said and she looked at her hands. "You can put it on yourself it will make you feel more comfortable"
She slowly nodded and took off her sweater.
I saw her arms, there were bite marks all over. Especially on her underarm...
'Vampire bites?'
She put on the machine and Carlisle looked at the results.
"It is a bit high, have you been sleeping well?" he asked.
"No, I haven't slept well in over a year" she admitted. "Sleeping medication doesn't help, I've tried it"
She put her sweater back on, covering her arms.
She looked at me and I held her hand.
"May I ask, what happened to your mother?" asked Carlisle.
"She died 2 years ago, they say it was an animal attack" said Emma.
"And your father?" asked Carlisle and that's when she froze. Her grip on my hand was strong.
"He eh... he killed himself in a fire, taking me almost with him. A year ago" said Emma.
"I'm very sorry for your loss" said Carlisle.
"Thank you" she said.
"Okay, I can try to give you something to calm down, lower your blood pressure. Stay home for a few days" he said and she nodded.
"Alice, can you take her home?" he asked and I nodded.
"Of course" I said and took Emma with me.
We first got the medicine and then I drove her home.
I took her phone and put my number in it.
"Call me if you need someone to talk to. Doesn't matter what time, okay?" I asked and she nodded.
"Alice?" she said and I looked at her. "Thank you. And could you also say thank you to Jasper for me? If he hadn't pulled me away..."
"Of course I will. Now, go to bed. Tomorrow I'll stop by to see how you're doing and with homework. Is that okay?" I asked and she smiled.
"Okay, see you tomorrow" she said and left the car.
~
I drove home, and that evening Carlisle spoke to all of us.
"Edward, Jasper. Although I appreciate it that you saved two people, you took a huge risk" he said. "For now, we can tell Bella she imagined it from hitting her head. And Emma, she was too busy having an episode to realise"
"Carlisle" I said and they all looked at me. "Her scars. Are they from a vampire?"
Jasper froze and stared at me.
"Yes, they were. And I'm sure of it now. Emma is becoming a Banshee. Her mother, Mereleona was one. I met her 90 years ago, but it seems that Emma has no idea what she is becoming. Being a Banshee also means she's immune to vampire venom. I'm thinking a vampire wanted to turn her, but he kept failing. Resulting in her scars" said Carlisle.

"The man with red eyes" said Edward.
Jasper had clenched his fists. He had begun to care for Emma, just like I had.
He could be himself around her, enjoy being normal for once in a while.
"Jasper, calm down" said Edward.
"Calm down?" said Jasper. "That girl has done nothing wrong! You can't feel her fear like I can. She was terrified... she... she doesn't deserve to feel like this. She doesn't understand what's going on with her. Before she went to the hospital, she told me she didn't want to go. Because she could feel people dying in there"
"Then what do you suppose we do?" asked Rosalie.
"Tell her the truth. Right now, she probably thinks she's going crazy" said Jasper.
"Tell her? Are you crazy?" she shouted.
"I agree with Jasper" I said and she looked at me. "Emma is kind, and maybe it'll help her if she understands what she feels around us"
"Let's see how she handles everything else first" said Carlisle. "When the time comes, I'll tell her what I know about Banshees. I owe it to her mother"
-Jasper POV-
I was angry, if I found out that the man who did that to her was still alive. I was going to kill him.
I ran outside, and Alice waited for me there.
"Where do you think you're going?" she asked.
"I just need to see if she's alright" I said and she smiled.
"Make sure she gets a good night sleep. She hasn't had it in a while" said Alice and went back inside.
Her window was open and her breathing was steady.
Her grey hair was in a braid and I looked at her.
'What are you doing to me?' I softly touched her cheek. 'I just want you to be safe...'
She began to stir, she was scared...
"Dad? Don't... stop, it hurts" she said and I used my gift to calm her down.
'You'll be okay, I promise...'
I kept watching her breathe, and kept the nightmares away.
-Emma POV-
It was the first night in a long time that I had slept the whole night.
I felt a lot better, well that was until Bella came in my room.
"I know you're supposed to be resting, but I really need someone to talk to" she said and I moved over so she could lay next to me.
"Tell me what's bothering you" I said.
"What did you see? When Taylor was about to crash into my car" she said and I thought about it.
"I don't remember much. I remember Jasper pulling me away and then having a panic attack" I said and I looked at her. "Why do you ask?"
"Emma, they were on the other side of the parking lot, weren't they?" she asked.
"You're right... I... I had just said goodbye to Alice and Jasper, they were walking to their car" I said.
"Edward stopped the van with his hand" she said and I was surprised.

"He did what now?" I asked.
"At the hospital, I confronted him about it. But he denied it, said that it was because I hit my head" she said, she was frustrated. "He said he and Jasper were standing right next to us"
"Well that's not true" I said. "I can't remember Edward being near us"
"So, I'm not crazy?" she asked and I laughed.
"Sorry to disappoint, Bells. But I have claimed the crazy title. Get your own" I said.
"You are in a good mood, despite what I just told you" she said.
"I slept really well, I know Dr. Cullen told me to stay home. But honestly, I feel rested and I want to go to school" I said and she smiled.
"I'm happy for you" she said and hugged me.
"There's something else bothering you, spill it" I said and she sighed.
"How do you know me so well?" she said.
"I'm basically your sister. Now spill it" I said.
"I had a dream last night" she said.
"What? A sex dream?" I asked and she hit me playfully.
"Emma!" she shouted and I laughed. "It wasn't a sex dream. I just dreamed that Edward was in my room"
"Are you sure you did not have a sex dream?" I smirked and she hit me with a pillow.
"You are unbelievable" she said.
"This is just me in a good mood" I laughed. "But okay, so you dreamed about the guy who basically saved your life. That's normal, I think?"
"If you say so" she said.
"Well, I'm not really the person you need to talk to about weird dreams" I said and she chuckled.
"Well, are you ready for the little trip?" she asked and I nodded.
~
"Emma!" the moment I stepped out of the car Alice ran to me. "Carlisle told you to stay at home. Are you incapable of listening to doctors?"
"Good morning to you too, Alice" I said and chuckled. She looked surprised.
"Are you okay? You didn't hit your head did you? You normally don't make jokes" she said and I laughed.
"I slept really well last night. And I feel rested and normal for a change" I said and she smiled. "I just didn't want to sit at home doing nothing when I feel okay"
"Good morning, Emma" it was Jasper.
"Good morning, Jasper" I said and smiled. "I wanted to thank you, for saving me yesterday"
"No problem" he said and smiled.
"Bella did say something that was bothering me" I said and they looked worried. "How did you reach me so fast? Weren't you on the other side of the parking lot?"
"No, I was running behind you. You had dropped a notebook" he said and handed my history notebook to me. "I wasn't too far from you when it happened"
"Oh, that makes a lot more sense" I smiled. "Thank you, for my notebook"
"What does Bella think happened?" asked Alice.
"That Edward pushed the van away or something? She said that he was with you on the other side of the parking lot. And I don't remember Edward anywhere near us, but then again. I don't remember much of yesterday anyway" I said.
"Well, I'm just glad you're okay" said Jasper and I smiled at him.
'I haven't smiled this much in ages, well real smiles anyway. It's easy around him'
"Thanks to you I am" I said.
"Oh, Emma" said Alice. "Carlisle told me, if there's anything you need. You can call him"
"That's kind of him. Will you tell him I appreciate it for me?" I asked and she chuckled.
"You are so British" she said and grabbed my hand. Jasper followed us to the bus and I sat down next to him.
"You look good today" he said and I blushed.
"Thank you?" I said and he smiled.
"I mean, you look more at ease" he said.
"Well, who knew almost getting hit by a car meant I could sleep for 8 hours straight?" I said and smiled. "I can't remember the last time I slept so well"
"Well, don't make it a habit of almost getting hit by a car" he said and I laughed.
"Don't worry, I have no intention of dying so soon" I said.
~
We walked inside a greenhouse, it was fun.
I looked at all the plants and I noticed that Jasper was looking at me.
"Don't worry" I told him. "Dr. Cullen told me I was fine. If I'm about to pass out, I'll tell you"
I looked at Bella, she was talking to Edward.
"Okay, I have to ask. Edward is kind of like your brother, right?" I asked him.
"Yes, why?" he asked.
"Well, Bella is basically my sister. And he was a total ass when she met him" I said and he chuckled. "Don't laugh at my accent, Mr. Texas"
"No promises, Ms. Britain. But do go on" he said and I rolled my eyes.
"Well, she can have a one track mind. But I mean, first he was an ass to her. Then he suddenly saves her life, not that I'm not grateful, don't get me wrong. But knowing Bells, she's not going to let the van thing go. I just want to know if I can trust Edward with Bella" I said and he looked surprised. "As I'm sure you've noticed by now, I'm not very social. I can't handle people suddenly touching me. Bella is one of the few people I feel comfortable with, whose touch I can handle. She's the only family I have left, so call me overprotective if you want. But I'm just concerned"
"I can promise you, he won't do anything to hurt her" he said and I smiled.
"Good, thank you" I said.
"So, one of the few people? Who else belongs in that circle?" he asked and I chuckled.
"Renée, I think. Bella's mother. And, Alice is getting there, I don't flinch as much anymore" I said.
"What about me?" he asked and I smiled.
"You're getting there too" I admitted.
