《The Banshee (Jasper Hale x OC)》Chapter 4

Bella had planned to confront Edward, but the problem was, he didn't show up...
And I was so tired... I didn't manage to fall asleep. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw him...
The Cullens arrived in a jeep. Alice jumped out of the car and ran towards me while I was walking to the building.
"Good morning, Emma" she said and smiled.
"Good morning" I said and looked away.
"Are you okay? You look tired" she said.
"I didn't sleep so well" I said. "Look, you don't have to talk to me, you know?"
She looked surprised.
"What if I want to talk to you?" she asked.
"Why?" I asked back at her.
"You look like a nice person. I really want to get to know you, if you'll let me" she smiled.
"There isn't much to know about me" I said and walked inside.
"I'm sure that's not true" she said and smiled.
~
Alice followed me around for the whole day...
She was nice, but I just didn't feel comfortable yet...
At lunch, I managed to shake her off for a while. I sat down outside with my headset on and my sketchbook out.
I just needed to be alone for a while... I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
But when I woke up, I saw that someone had put away my sketchbook and put my jacket around me. Only 15 minutes had passed and I looked around for the person who did that for me.
~
And like that, a few weeks had passed. I was getting used to Alice, but I was happy that she left me alone for lunch.
Bella got anxious, because Edward still hadn't shown up.
Jasper was also nice, he didn't try to talk to me. But I did notice him looking at me from time to time during history.
It was Friday, and I sat on my spot outside, listening to some music.
I even got used to people whispering about me. Even Bella's friends didn't try to talk to me anymore. But it was better that way. Easier...
I felt the cold feeling again and I looked up, I saw Jasper standing in front of me.
He said something, but I didn't hear him. I took off my headset and looked into his golden eyes.
"I'm sorry, I didn't hear you" I said and he smiled.
"I said, can I sit next to you?" he asked and I nodded.
He looked at me while I sketched. Of the Cullens, I liked Jasper the most. When he was around, I felt calm. Like I could finally breathe normally for a minute. He didn't force me to talk, but it was nice just having him there.
"You're very talented" he said with his accent.
"Okay, I have to ask now. Are you from Texas?" I asked and he laughed.
"Yes, I am, Ma'am" he said and I chuckled.
"Very funny" I said.
"I could ask you the same thing" he said.
"If I'm from Texas? I'm sorry to disappoint, but no. I'm not from Texas I'm afraid" I said and he rolled his eyes. "I think my mom was from Great Britain. She always spoke with this accent, so I just got it from her I think"

I began to feel sad a bit, thinking about her. But it was okay, it wasn't overwhelming me like it usually does.
"Did she teach you how to draw?" he asked and I nodded.
"Yes, when I was 12, I won the first prize with a drawing of roses. She was very proud of me and it was then I loved drawing even more" I said and continued drawing the forest I had in my head.
"She sounds like a wonderful person" he said.
"She was" I said and stopped drawing for a second. "She was the best"
"I'm sorry" he said and I looked him in the eyes. "I didn't mean to make you feel sad"
"It's fine, you're easy to talk to. Don't feel bad about it" I said and put away my sketchbook.
"Easier than Alice?" he asked and I smiled.
"Alice is nice, don't get me wrong. But... I'm not used to people who are so... enthusiastic? I mean, I just need to get used to it, I guess" I sighed. "You two are the only people besides Bella who want to talk to me. Everybody else thinks I'm a crazy person who freaks out at the smallest thing"
"I don't think that" he said and I looked up at the leaves of the tree.
"I mean, they are right. It's just harder getting used to everything again than I thought" I said. "Maybe it's for the best, this way they all leave me alone. And I don't mind being alone, it's easier"
Suddenly he stood up and held out his hand.
"We should get to class, the bell will go off any second" he said and I accepted his hand.
It was cold... ice cold...
He pulled me up and gave me my bag.
'It's just in your head, Emma. It's all just in your head...'
~
Charlie was getting reports from outside of Forks, people getting killed...
It was getting colder and it even froze.
So when a new week started, Bella slipped and fell on her but.
"You all right?" asked Charlie and helped her up.
"Yeah, I'm good" said Bella, I made sure to be extra careful where I stepped. "Ice doesn't really help the uncoordinated"
"Yeah, that's why I had some new tires put on the truck. Old ones were getting pretty bald. Well, probably be late for dinner. I gotta head down to Mason County. Security guard at the Grisham Mill got killed by some kind of animal" said Charlie and I froze.
'Just like mom...'
"An animal?" I asked, my voice trembled.
"It's probably not the same animal that killed your mother, Emma. Don't worry" he said. "Anyway, I figured I'd lend a hand"
"Be careful" said Bella.
"Always am" said Charlie.
"And thanks for the tires" she said.
"Yeah" he said awkwardly and left.
I liked the snow, but it also meant I couldn't sit outside like usual...
Alice was waiting for me at my locker and she smiled. I noticed her eyes were more golden than usual. She accompanied me to math class.
She tried to give me tips to dress better, but I told her I'm fine with my own clothes.

"So, do you like the rain?" she asked suddenly.
"Yes, I like the cold" I said and looked outside.
"Really? But you're from Arizona" she said.
"I was happy to leave. I hated the warm weather" I said and she smiled.
"Well, Forks is perfect for you then" she said and I nodded.
When school was over, I said goodbye to Alice and Jasper and walked towards Bella.
She was reading and listening to music.
"So, I see that Mr. Rude is back" I said and she chuckled. "What was his excuse?"
"Didn't feel so well. He apologized and introduced himself. But his eyes were different" she said and looked over at the other side of the parking lot where the Cullens were.
"Maybe it was just the light?" I asked and she sighed.
Suddenly I heard the horn of a car and I saw Taylor and his van slipping...
"Bella!" I shouted, but I was pulled away.
My heart was beating so fast and I couldn't breathe...
"Emma? Emma, are you okay?" it was Jasper his voice, but I couldn't see anything... "Emma, I need you to breathe, okay?"
I felt cold hands on my face and I took a step back.
"Please don't" I managed to get out. I sat down and put my head between my knees. "It's all in my head, it's just in my head. It's not real..."
I kept repeating those words over and over again.
-Jasper POV-
I don't know what came over me to pull her away. But right now, she was having a panic attack...
She kept saying that it was all in her head.
I sat down next to her and gently toucher her back. I calmed her down using my gift.
She looked up and her eyes were red from crying.
"Bella" she said and stood up. "Is Bella okay?"
I stopped her from getting closer to the people surrounding Bella.
"She's fine, we called an ambulance. You should go with them" I said and she froze.
Her face went pale and her hands began to shake...
"No... no hospital" she whispered.
"It's just to be safe" I said and she shook her head.
"No, you don't understand. I can't... I can't be in a hospital..." she said and grabbed her hair.
"Emma, don't" I said and took her in my arms. Her whole body was trembling.
"No, please. Don't make me go to a hospital... I can feel them there, all of them..." she cried.
"Feel who?" I asked.
"All the people dying" she whispered.
I froze for a second... 'She can feel them die?'
The ambulance arrived and Bella asked for Emma.
"You alright, dear?" asked someone from the ambulance.
"She had a panic attack" I said and the person nodded. I looked at Emma. "It's just for a little bit. Just to make sure you're not hurt"
She was so fragile, the smallest thing could break her...
Alice had joined us. "How about I drive you to the hospital and stay with you?" she had better control than me. "Would that be okay?" she asked the person from the ambulance.
"Yeah, sure" she said and went back to the ambulance.
"Come on, Emma. I'll drive you" said Alice and softly touched Emma's shoulder.
Emma softly let my shirt go and held Alice her hand.
'Why does she intrigue me so much?' I stared at the grey haired girl, missing her warmth.
-Emma POV-
Alice drove me to the hospital, my hands wouldn't stop trembling.
"I'll have Carlisle check you out. Then you won't have to stay long in the hospital" said Alice and I nodded. I couldn't talk, my scars were hurting and my head screamed at me.
"Emma, are you okay?" it was Tyler, he was hurt. "I'm so sorry"
"Emma" it was Charlie this time he looked at me and I nodded. He hugged me softly.
"I'm Alice, I drove her here" said Alice and Charlie nodded.
"Thank you" he said.
"Emma" it was Bella, I sat down next to her and squeezed her hand.
"So, this is my other patient" said a doctor, he had the same eyes as Jasper... "Mereleona?"
I looked confused. "No, my name is Emma Marshall" I said.
"I see, I'm sorry. You remind me of an old friend. I'm Dr. Carlisle Cullen" he said.
"Well, maybe you knew my mother. Her name was Mereleona" I said and he looked surprised.
"Really? I never knew she had a daughter. But it has been a really long time since I heard from her. How is she?" he asked.
"Dead" I said and he froze.
"Lift up your shirt please" said a nurse and she touched my arm, trying to roll up my sleeve.
"No!" I screamed and pushed her away.
I couldn't breathe and I couldn't see, I could feel people dying all around me and it was driving me insane.
I grabbed my hair and kneeled to the ground.
"Make it stop, please make it stop" I shouted.
"Emma, I'll need you to take a deep breath. Can you do that for me?" it was Dr. Cullen.
I tried following his instructions and after a few minutes I could see again.
"I'm sorry" I whispered. "I didn't mean to"
"It's okay, it's okay" said Dr. Cullen. He looked at my arm, my sleeve had gone down and you could see a few scars.
He looked at the nurse. "I'll take care of her" he said and the nurse left.
"I'm sorry" I kept repeating.
"Chief Swan, why don't you take Bella home? I'm sure Alice wouldn't mind driving Emma home after I examined her" said Dr. Cullen.
"Emma?" said Charlie.
"It's okay, get Bella home. I didn't get hit, Jasper pulled me out of the way" I said.
'Wait, how did Jasper get there so fast? He was on the other side of the parking lot'
"If you're sure, Emma" said Charlie and left with Bella.
"Now, let's get you to my office, it's more private there" said Dr. Cullen.
"Alice?" I said and looked at her.
"Do you want me to come with you?" she asked and I nodded.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

The Destiny of a Mortal God (Hiatus)
Currently on hiatus, in part because I'm unsatisfied with how the story was starting to develop, and even though I had ideas how to run it, I still made mistakes far too big to correct them. Secondly I'm currently stressed about university, and sincerely, I don't see myself keeping this project. I may or may not retake this project or even start a new one, but one thing's for sure, it isn't happening anytime soon (Meaning until june, aprox, or until I can keep up with class). ... Lyon Ironblood, 19 years old and orphan, is taken by Kronos from the present Earth to another world, where he shall fight and struggle to get stronger so that he shall acomplish the mission Kronos assigned him. He shall fight gods, demons, dragons and monsters and even mortals who surpass those. But to do so he shall receive, though only after he proved himself worthy, a power beyond imagination. This power will not be handed freely to him, and he'll have to work hard to develop it. He shall receive the X-Men System. A magic system designed to enhance Lyon and give him the mutations from the X-Men serie. He shall start from scratch, with powers that will seem less than a mere human, and develop them with effort, to surpass the gods. [I don't claim ownership of any of the X-Men powers or characters, neither the cover, only thing I claim are the ideas which make the story and put together their powers, how they'll develop from scratch to even higher worlds than they were suposed on the series, other than that, all X-Men characters named (which I'll try to avoid to a certain point) are not of my property]
