《System Holders》Chapter 8: Doubts

[17 year old boy states that the Towers are important]
[The towers isn't the end, according to Jack, a 17 year old boy]
[Towers are tutorials!]
The media went insane. Not only did a few non combatants contact Jack and his family. News outlets were blasting his emails, and eventually found his phone number somehow. He assumed his friends ratted him out for money.
"Maybe calling in wasn't a good idea". Jack was laying in bed struggling to sleep.
"It's fine. I think you saying what you did will actually inspire change. They'll be talking in parliament tomorrow". Zeon tried his best to reassure him. "Anyways what's done is done. You have to focus on yourself and your family for the time being, let the adults do the talking".
jack rolled his eyes. Sometimes Zeon sounds like an old man when he speaks and the way he articulates his words.
"Also why didn't you say anything when Carl took the coins? They directly give you experience for your Grade".
"I'm D+, bronze coins would barely do anything so it's more worth it for Carl to give it to Lamb".
"You're reasonably mature". Jack laughed to himself.
"What does that even mean?". Zeon was quite confused by this statement since he's been nothing but mature since he immerged.
"Nothing, Goodnight!".
The family woke up at 6 o'clock again aswell as going to the Towers almost as soon as they woke up. They thought to themselves that the earlier they are there the less people will be there. They were obviously correct. They stayed there until 10am since Zeon wanted them to truly experience exhaustion. Zeon had an ulterior motive with this. Everyone in the family were quite chubby, and if they stayed the same, their stamina would not last at all on Floor 10. Although Zeon doesn't know what exactly the quest is, he sure knows it'll be much harder than killing 10,000 rabbits.
Before the family started killing any rabbits, they looked at the Quest.
[Quest 1: 10/10,000]
Someone has entered the Tower. Without realising it. Jack had sparked passion within the System Holders. Giving them a potential future.
They were there until 10am and nothing really changed within their fighting styles. Matt and Carl still paired up against one whilst Jill, Jack and Adam took on two. They were becoming more experienced, although Jill still couldn't figure out how to use Crucify properly. Sure, her water spears were becoming more pointy, but that's about it, its distance it could over didn't improve and neither did its speed. Adam still didn't have an electric type ability and Jack's barrier still stayed the same not progressing at all. His barrier is able to withstand three attacks from these rabbits then it shatters. However, this was a different story for Matt and Carl. Although they haven't gained any new abiltiies or even upgraded any of their abilities. They were adapting so fast to the point they were able to take on three with Max included.

When the 4 hours were up, they were absoultely exhausted. They haven't experienced this before and this is completely new territory. However they felt fulfilled watching the Quest go up.
[Quest 1: 55/10,000]
As they got home they wanted to go to sleep or just shut their brains off and watch a movie. However Zeon urged the family to find a Blacksmith since Jack received a few emails from non combatants.
They received around 10 emails to do with their systems. They ranged from Blacksmiths, Farmers, Seamstresses and even Jewellers.
There were two blacksmiths applicants and these were their status windows:
Liam: Age 38
Class: Blacksmith
Class Advancements: Zero
Inherited Skills: Heat Protection(E+)
Skills: Smelting(E), Synthesis(F).
System Type: Non Combatant (P)
System Level: F
Dave: Age 51
Class: Blacksmith
Class Advancements: Zero
Inherited Skills: Ore/Mineral Knowledge(C+)
Skills: Hammer Efficiency(D-), Smelting(E+), Synthesis(E-)
System Type: Mixed - Non Combatant/Weaponist (Ivory)
System Level: E+
The family obviously had no choice but to pick Dave. Zeon expected them to ask tons of questions, but for once the family barely reacted. Sure, they were all shocked, however I think they have had enough twists and turns that they expected something out of the ordinary.
They sent an email out to Dave, asking if they could meet in London, preferably the café near pretty much opposite the Tutorial Tower. With that over with, everyone decided to watch a movie downstairs except Jill, she wondered outside to the nearest park.
She didn't understand why her Inherited Ability is so weak. It literally doesn't do anything because by the time it reaches her opponents it disintergrates mid air or when it lands on them. Evie told her the way she is using mana is fine, that isn't the problem, it's something else but she doesn't know what. Is it because it requires Water Manipulation to be a higher level? That's a possibility, but wouldn't Evie mention something? It doesn't make sense.
"Evie, why aren't you telling me what I'm doing wrong?". At this point Jill just wanted answers. She tried and tried again but nothing, she was infuriated. Her whole family were making small improvements but she still hasn't. In fact, she was literally the only one having a breakdown mid fight for Gods sake, even if they were against Rabbits!
"You're using the ability wrong, you haven't considered how far away you can cast them from you. I'm actually disappointed. Based on how fast you learned Mana Manipulation I thought you would be a prodigy. But I guess not". Evie was quite disappointed that she had to be the one telling her this, she assumed that Jill would be able to figure it out.

Jill didn't reply. She walked home and as soon as she entered the house she went downstairs through the teleportation device. She was motivated to prove to Evie she isn't someone who can be cast aside. It was currently 12:30pm so there may be people inside the tower, but she doubted it.
"Evie, I'll prove to you I'm not useless". Evie didn't respond back. She thought this whole act was reckless and wanted to stop her, but if she did she would be stunting Jills growth and in return her own growth too since Systems rely on their users..
Barely anyone was surrounding the Tower expect a few people debating whether to go in. They saw Jill walk in by herself and dismissed the idea of going in and thought it would be a death trap for the suicidal. As Jill walked in she was greeted with a Rabbit. Only this time she scanned the large dark room. She expected to be alone, however she met the eyes of two people. A man and a woman. Because of this she instictively checked the Quest.
[Quest 1: 59/10,000]
For the time being she ignored the two people and focused on the rabbit infront of her.
"Since you're alone I guess I'll coach you, don't respond just do as I say". Evie was in no mood to play around, although she's confronting a singular rabbit, it's still dangerous since she only has one ability that can be used offensively. Jill also can't even use Rejuvenation on herself. Honestly, Evie wondered why Jill even had the class Healer to begin with. It didn't match her personality as she tends to avoid relying on others entirely and she seems much more capable on the offensive.
"Don't raise your arm out to create the spear like you usually would. Instead, keep your hands by your side like usual, like you're idle. Imagine the water spear being directly infront of the Rabbit. Focus on where you want the Water Spear to be, after that do what you usually would".
Jill did exactly what she was asked. The water spear this time didn't come from Jill's hand. Instead it appeared almost directly infront of the Rabbit like Evie said. The spear impaled the rabbit and you could see the water spear come from other side.
[Crucify is now Grade E+!]
She outwardly smiled. She didn't expect the spear to go straight through the rabbit, nor did she expect the grade go up a full level. She was ecstatic.
She stayed inside the Tower for an hour and decided to head back, killing 10 rabbits and gaining 11 bronze coins.
"Umm excuse me! I'm Alice and this is my brother Phil. What you did was so cool! We were watching you. Do you mind telling us how to do stuff like that? I'm a Mage and I cannot figure out how to use magic at all!". This girl was the same girl who was inside the Tower before Jill and everytime Jill glanced over at them both, she was never using magic, instead she kind of just wandered behind him whilst the boy was holding a dagger.
"Sorry I can't help you, I can only give you some form of advice. Every person has different capabilities and has a unique way of learning magic. If you have an elemental based ability you need to learn Electrical Manipulation as an example, or Water Manipulation like myself. For that though you need to learn Mana Manipulation as a basis. Goodluck! I hope everything goes well". Jill wormed herself out with a smile and didn't extend the conversation any longer since they were considerably younger than herself so she felt weird about it.
