《The Assassin Before Time》C4 Into the Forest

Sol 4
I have run the last three days straight, making sure to avoid any serious obstacles. I have run past a ton of prehistoric dinosaurs. That most could only ever dream of seeing. And let me say, a lot we thought about them is wrong. Luckily I didn't run into anything super serious that would track me down all the way to town. God couldn't imagine having to face a velociraptor; that would be terrible.
{Mission triggered
A rogue velociraptor
There is a lone velociraptor in your area. Deal with it
Requirement: kill the velociraptor in your area
Time Limit: Till you reach the border of South Sudan
Reward: Bonded Armour set. 1000G, 100exp
Penalty: Loss Of System}
'great'
'system, how am I supposed to track this raptor.'
{Its current location is marked on your map}
'ok, this is about four miles away in a densely packed forest. This works to my advantage with my skills as the assassin; I should be able to go tree to tree and stay out of reach.
I set off in the direction marked on my map, taking a slit detour to a small creek to wash off my sent the best I can. Moving superfast from tree to tree feels amazing. Looking down on all the little critters of the forest.
I arrive at the location on my map. It does not give me an exact location. It just gives me its general location. I quietly move through the wood, making sure not to make a sound that could be heard to let him know I am in the area and he is being hunted. Threw the thick foliage of the trees surrounding me, I see him gnawing on a large rabbit. I wait, watching. Time crawls by with my nervousness about being caught and attacked. The raptor slowly starts to get up. It seems to be favoring its left leg. 'That must be why it's alone. It couldn't keep up, just like the pirate code in pirates of the Caribbean. A sad fate for sure, but, hey, a mission is a mission, it's got to be dealt with.' It walks at a slow pace towards the north. I must stay at a distance because its excellent hearing makes it difficult to stay near. It wined its way back to a small cave buried in a hill, just barely peeking out of the ground. I can barely see it, and it would be challenging to notice if you didn't know what to look for. The raptor goes inside, I assume, to rest.

I start to formulate a plan in my mind trying to come up with a way to deal with it. I can't go in there and try to kill it. It's too smart to let something like that happen. I could do an ambush when it next goes hunting or right when it comes out of the cave.
3 hours later, I hear small sounds coming from the cave. I sit on top of the cave opening with my katana and kyoketsu-shoge, ready to make a fatal kill when it exits from the cave. Looking down, I see a head poking out of the cave, observing looking around, making sure that there is no one outside. I stay perfectly. Still, I made sure ahead of time there would be no clicking or something of that sort.
'Hey system, what are its stats'
{Velociraptor
Weight: 33 Pounds
Threat: B
Description: Velociraptor is one of the most bird-like dinosaurs ever discovered. It was small and fast, and the sickle-shaped claw on each foot's second toe made it a formidable predator. A special bone in its wrist allowed it to swivel its wrist sideways in a flapping motion and to fold its arm against its body like a bird.}
Slowly the rest of its body starts to come out of the cave. I dig my foot in, preparing to jump, and next to me, a loose rock starts to fall; as I watch it drop, I think,' Shit, no other option got go for it, or it will know something is off.' I jump, and just as I jump, the rock hits the ground making the raptor flinch to the side, making my perfect kill go to its left leg instead. The sword sinks into his body, making him scream out. As my feet hit the ground, I push back, pulling my sword from its leg, making it cry out once again. I fly back a couple of feet.

As I look into those terrified eyes, I see a fury that burns bright than the sun. We walk in a couple of circles, waiting to see who would make the first move. As we circle, its pain and fury get the best it. Once it came in reach of my sword, I lashed out, striking it in the shoulder, making it stumble to the side, missing me on its lunge. I try to strike it in the back as it flys by but is already out of reach. I charge at it as it turns around with a slight limp. I come with a powerful slash right at its head. It suddenly ducks and spins its powerful tail coming at me. I try to jump out of the way, but it catches me, sending me flying into a tree a couple of meters back.
As I slowly get back up, I can feel pain shoot through my left rib cage. There are broken ribs. We are both pretty beaten up. It's got blood falling out of the green scales on his side. I get into my best defensive stance I can without moving as much as possible, waiting for it to come to me or flee.
It looks around, and then its eyes focus on me. Its tail starts to swing back and forth. It starts a slow trot, Building up to its speed into a half sprint all it can manage. As it comes into range, I wait; its jaws are closing in on me. With the last second possible. I move my sword with blinding speed, pushing it through its neck.
The momentum carries through, and it falls on me. Sending pain shooting through my broken ribs. I push the raptor off me, leaving the sword its neck. I take a knee sending pain shooting through my side. As I kneel next to it, I say, "You were a worthy opponent. Die with honor, my friend, for you have fought valiantly."
{You have killed a Velociraptor, you have earned 25exp}
{You have received:
Bonded Armour
1000G
100exp}
I collapsed to the ground. I no longer had the strength to stand.
'Hey system, How long until my injuries heal.'
{3 hours 45 minutes 15 Seconds}
'Good, I need it.'
I, for the First time in this new land, fell asleep.

Lone: The Wanderer [Dropped Version (includes original draft of the rewrite's first volume)]
Nine-to-five. The daily grind. Life. Painful years of school. Working as a slave for some undeserving corporate big-wig. The monotonous life of unemployment. We all experience this in one way or another, and we can all conclude one thing: it's dull. Such a fact rings true even for the fabled Lone Immortus, a powerful nine-tailed Golden Foxkin. However, what would you do if your monotony was suddenly ground to a halt and you were thrown out of your comfort zone along with a young girl forgotten by time? Perhaps you might have done things differently, been more organised, immediately died, gained control of the world in a matter of days, but this is Lone's tale, not yours. Watching two insecure people struggle to survive and find their place in an unfamiliar land just might be enjoyable to witness. Who knows? One thing's for certain: it won't be an easy path for them to tread, and what could possibly be more entertaining than watching people endure hardships and grow? I know of at least eight gods that would answer with, 'Absolutely nothing.' I wonder, after seeing this journey from start to finish, how would you answer? [Goal of 2 chapters per week, the only exceptions being announced breaks or emergencies] A/N: This story is in the middle of a rewrite, so please forgive any noticeable plot holes and wonky chapter numbers. I am working on it every day, so understanding would be greatly appreciated. The new cover art is a courtesy of the very kind and talented ssddx. This novel is a participant in The Writer's Pledge

A note from the Author: PLEASE leave a review and alert me of any plot holes, weak portions, and anything else. I am in desperate need of beta readers and feedback. I wrote this around the new year, 2020. It's about 40k words and the first in a planned series that follows Gar "Alany" Darron and his agency of detectives as they track missing persons in the city of Throne. I have the sequel planned but not written. Once this one is completely uploaded, I'll be uploading another, unrelated series that as of right now is roughly 160k words long, and somewhere in there, I'll write the sequel to Frame of Mind. I plan to go back and forth between the two series for the foreseeable future. Thanks for reading.
