Jack had something in his mind when he heard the guy spoke.
"This tragedy was all because of that earphone thing that created by that billionaire! Without that thing, things would go on smoothly!" The guy said in his whispering voice but in an angry tone.
Jack inevitably wouldn't hear that. He was actually sadden by what happen and he always felt guilty because of that. But he was actually trying to resolve everything as he could but things get worst and it's out of his control now.
Jack tries to ignore what he just heard. But he can't stop the guy from talking about it.
"Before the network was gone, the news was all over and it is about the earphone virus. I was just thankful that I didn't bought one and just save the money for something else." The guy was very very mad explaining himself and everybody even agrees to him.
"You? How come you aren't infected with the virus?" The guy ask as he was looking to Margaret.
"I was busy with my child and no time to buy those expensive thing." He responded and then they take glance to the old man and old lady.
"We are already old enough, we don't need to use those thing. A-a r-regular phone will do for us." The old man responded and Jack doesn't seem to know how to look at them.
He even thought they would recognize him but to his surprise they Don't. Because of his military attire. He couldn't help himself but to hear all those sentiments and those angry tone of that man who was just beside him.
"We are just very thankful with them." The guy said as he was taking a glance to the old man and old lady out in the corner.
"They've stock some groceries in this apartment for the reason that they can't go out anytime they needed too because no one would take care of their granddaughter. And for that we've got food to eat." The guy continues and the old man smile at that guy like saying its's okay.
"And we are thankful that you are here because we are really running out of food and we don't know how we would be able to survive from hunger or worst from death." He continues and Jack were still listening.

"How come you survive from them?." Jack spoke while signaling his head -from the attackers.
"It's a lot worst than anything that could happen. Every night that we heard their growling sounds like an alarm clock to our ears. We always made sure to hide in those cabinets for them not to see us nor worst be their meal." The guy spoke as he was taking a glance to the cabinet while Jack taking a look at those cabinets they were hiding at every night.
They were busy chit chatting when Jack heard a loud screeching moans of those attackers. So he signal them to take slow and be quiet. And then Jack signal them to take a circling at the center of the room so he could tell his plan on how to go out from the building.
Jack look at the guy.
"Do you know how to use a gun ———?" He ask and stared at him seriously.
"Winston. My name is Winston." He responded because he never had the chance to tell his blame earlier.
"Oh Winston. Do you know how to use a gun?." Jack ask repeatedly.
"Yes I do." He said but in a whispering tone.
"That's good. Here take this." Jack hand him over the gun that he has in his waist.
As he was still trying to listen to the sounds of the living dead outside their room.
"Will the government saves us?" Winston ask, talking and asking a lot and Jack had his patience on him.
"Government can't help us. We can only defend on ourselves now." Jack simply answers him in his calm voice trying to be calm his mind with the situation they had and to the talkative Winston he has beside him.
Jack take a glance to the other five behind him. Margaret were hugging her daughter tight. While the old man and old lady hug their granddaughter too and old lady kiss the head of her granddaughter.
Jack can see fear, worries and nervousness in their faces and even Jack could felt that too but tries to be calm and strong for them.
"Can you really saves us all?" Winston ask again has doubts because he couldn't help himself to ask.

Jack suddenly stop from fixing her riffle and bullets when he heard Winston.
"I am alone but I will try to save our asses out from here. If you can't trust me enough. Don't bother come and just stay here until someone can save yours ass." Jack said and then continue what he was doing.
"Sorry, I was just afraid for them." He said while looking the others in that room.
Jack take a glance at them too and then back to Winston.
"When we go out in this room. Just stick with me and don't separate yourselves from the line. We can get out as long as you listen to what I am saying to you." Jack explained as he raised his riffle in his shoulder trying to be ready.
"Do you understand what I am saying?" Jack continues. They all kept silent and the Margaret speak up.
"We are coming with you." She said and referring to her daughter he were carrying with her.
"P- Please take us with you too." The old lady and old man speak up together with their granddaughter in her wheelchair.
"Okay, and you? Are you gonna stay your ass in here?" Jack looked at Winston and ask.
"N-no I am also coming with you OF COURSE!" Winston quickly responded don't want to be left out.
"They are somewhat afraid of the rays of the sun so we could go outside this building washout any problem." Jack trying to explain the weaknesses of the attacker (living dead).
"Staying for long won't help us put so we gotta move quickly." Jack continues.
"But then we need to be more careful since this building is not totally reaching the rays of the sun. I saw some of them at the hallway while I am climbing earlier. " Jack said as he was preparing himself to go out.
"We need to focus on the possibility of sunlight in this building, staying at the sunlight will save your ass. Got it?" Jack trying to command them to do what he was saying.
"Are you all ready?" Jack whispers as he held his ears to the door.
It seems he can't hear the screeching moans of those living dead.
Attackers (living dead) are everywhere in that building. Jack and the others don't have any idea of it. Just a bit of sunlight can be seen in some staircase of the apartment. More so on the dark side of every corner and it is where the living dead were hiding.
Jack were first in the line. Margaret tries to carry the child in the wheelchair and then hold the hand of her daughter. And behind Margaret were the old man and old lady and the last in the line would be Winston to protect them from behind. But Winston doesn't seem to like the idea.
"I will be the last to walk out from this room? Na -ah I don't agree with that." He said and then Jack stop for a minute in moving his hand into opening the door.
He look at Winston who is whining at the back.
"Who holds the gun?" Jack asked.
Then Winston take a glance at his gun that he was holding.
"Would you let the old lady and old man walk behind when they seems to have no weapons to protect themselves from the attackers? " Jack trying to explain why he line them up like that.
"Margaret who was taking care both the kids. You think she can handle to hold a weapon with her?" Jack was very vocal in his voice trying to calm himself and trying to reiterate to Winston why he did let him be behind them.
Winston seems to understand but still compelled with Jack's explanations.
"Alright." Winston said.
"Let's go." Winston continues while staying at the back looking around him.
Preparing his gun to point to his enemies. Jack nodded as a signal that he is ready to open the door now. You can see the nervousness in their faces and beat of their heart became faster while Jack was slowly holding the knob and opening it. When he successfully open it, he try to look outside that room and upon looking at it. There seems to be a problem.

When they get dragged into a grand scheme to unpick the ancient secrets entombed within one its foremost forbidden zones in their world, the Yin Eclipse Mountains, they must all try to survive the dark machinations, eldritch undercurrents and the echoes of a terrible conflict trying to re-emerge into an unsuspecting cosmos that had rather hoped it was done with that kind of thing a few eras hence. So please come join Arai, Sana, Juni, Ling, Shu and the rest of my cast as they journey through strange lands, meet all kinds of unusual beings and unravel some of the power and glory of a land time tried very hard to forget. I promise terrifying mushrooms, angry snakes, confused gods, even more confused cultivators and much, much more! Update schedule: (02/6/2022) As chapters are done, sorry. Progress: Currently up to old chapter 13-15. Chapter 24(or 25)/13, Parts 1 & 2 will be the end of the rework. Part 2 has been temporarily delayed due to me getting a frozen shoulder in the middle of June, which has been very slow to properly clear up. It is getting better, though, but Shoulder/neck is the worst set of muscles to have issues with ;( You can currently pick up most story threads after the rewritten chapters, starting from chapter 13-14 (old) Genre-wise, this is a bit hard to pin down. It's technically a Xianxia (because cultivators!), but it also veers towards Xuanhuan and has more traditional High Fantasy elements and a bit of Gods and Monsters and All Myths Are (on some levels) Valid. It also has a fairly large, ensemble cast, so if multiple point's of view are not your thing I am sorry. It won't ever really be considered 'grimdark' by any real measure of that definition but it does go to some complicated and fairly places dark occasionally, which I will note in author pre-chapter notes when expedient!. About the Author I mainly write fiction for my own hobby, it makes a nice change from academic scribbling! I started writing this quite a number of years ago. It has grown somewhat organically out of a bunch of different interests in all kinds of Mythology, World Building, Drawing Maps, Archaeology, Anthropology, History and Epic Fantasy fiction into what it is today. So I hope you enjoy the story and thanks for reading! Other stuff The cover is made by the author, using photos taken by the author. There is a Discord Server- Please come and chat, but beware of spoilers.

Lost Things
"In this disordered continent, where everyone seeks to be the heroes of their own tales, there are still some rooms for smaller stories to breathe." "Past, present, and future—keep your eyes open, and see where they lead you to." This story follows three housemates’ lives: Carson Calding, Virgil Barion, and John Salore—onto their adventures of finding Carson’s past, Virgil’s present, and John’s future. Despite their clashing backgrounds and circumstances that forced them together, they’re definitely going to find the things they had lost, for sure. Each entire chapter will be updated biweekly. There'll be three smaller parts per each chapter. Note that this story was written to be an interactive one, with polls at the end of each parts deciding on what happens next. Though, the polls for this story won't be available on Royal Road updates. (I also upload this in Arcane Odyssey forum, and it's currently the only place where I open the polls and use the poll results from.)
