《Day Light'S ( The Vaccine )》Screaming for HELP

Jack can't figure out where is the best option for him to go inside. It was even dark at the main door, he thought that attackers( living-dead) might be there and waiting for someone to be their food. And Jack didn't want to take that risk, he were still thinking of a way when suddenly he heard a loud noise.
"HELP! SOMEBODY HELP US PLEASE!" When Jack heard that loud noise and turned his head to where it came from.
He saw someone up on the third floor of the building, waving his hand. Jack was trying to look vividly and familiarizing it. It was a men.
Jack signal the guy to keep silent and then he signal his palms spreading in the air to wait for him. And then Jack hurriedly went his way back to his car and find something that he can use to communicate with the survivor. He tries to look anywhere and then he found a pen, he reaches for it. And to his disappointment it doesn't have an ink and bad thing he don't even have a paper where to write. He sighed and then he looked for something else, a material to use in climbing the building would be an option for him. He found one inside his bag a rope with a grappling hook.
The guy at the building was very happy (actually THEY were happy), he is with other else in that building. They were happy because FINALLY there are still someone out there who survive just like them with the tragedy that happens. But still they are in doubt about Jack's existence if they could trust him or not. But they had no choice but to trust him because Jack could only be the one to save them out from the building.
When Jack finally found a rope that he could use in climbing the building, he thought it would be a possible option rather than risking to enter at the main door. He got his guns put it in his waist and got his riffle with him and then extra bullets where he put it in with his bullet proof vest. And then he quickly move back to where he saw that guy who were shouting.

And he was still there at the window looking down to where he is. Jack wave his hand so he can see him. Then the guy also wave back at him to know he is still there.
The guy was confuse because he thought he went to call others for help but he saw him came back all alone. But still thankful that he notice and heard his scream for help.
Jack tries to signal the guy raising the rope about to throw. And then the guy thumbs up at him and he move backwards just to be safe not to be catch by the grappling hook. Then Jack started to throw the rope with a grappling hook on it.
The first try didn't got in. He shook his head and try to throw it again and then it got hook on the window of the floor where he saw that guy. He touch the rope hard if it really hooked up in that window and it was really hooked up tight enough for him to climb up.
"Oh nice! Good to go!" Jack exclaimed as he started to climb up.
While climbing up he can take a glance to the other floors that he could pass through from the window. He saw some attackers(living dead) on the hall way wandering around.
Jack thought,
"Oh great, I didn't got to enter at the main door." And then he continues to climb until he reaches the terrace and he jumped off in it.
Jack was catching his breath and then he look to the window and saw the guy who shouted earlier, he signal him to come out so he could help him go down using the rope. But the guy shook his head off like he was saying that 'he can't' .
Jack frowned and confuse why the guy didn't want to come outside so they could move quickly out from the building. When Jack couldn't let the guy go out in his way, he decided that he would be the one to go inside.
With his riffle in his side, he enters at the window of the room. And when he was inside the room he saw another survivors and they are actually six of them including the guy he saw. Jack was surprise knowing there are more survivors inside that's why he didn't want to come outside and just leave him there like that. Jack saw an old man and old lady. Then one kid who are sitting on a wheel chair and then a women in her 40's plus her baby girl (Jack guessed because he was carrying her) and the guy in front of him who shouted for help.

Jack was worried how would he be able to get them all out from the building knowing he only had the rope for them to get down. Jack felt sadden just by looking at the kid that was sitting in the wheel chair.
He knelt in front of her,
"Are you all right?" Jack ask. The little girl has doubts answering so she just hold tight the old lady beside her.
"It's all right I am here to help you all get out in here." Jack tries to smile while talking to her.
And then suddenly the girl smiled back at him. Jack stand up and thought they are one family but then the guy said.
"The old man and old lady here sir owns the apartment. And this little girl beside them." Pointing on the girl who was in a wheel chair.
"Was their granddaughter, her parents were killed by those.." the guy explain but can't seem to describe who killed the parents of the kid but looking at their faces who were scared and fear was seen on it.
Jack already guess that they were killed by the living dead, and afraid that they've become a living dead too. Jack nodded and then he take a glance to the woman beside her holding her baby girl around 6 years old.
"Is she your wife?" Jack ask trying to guess it.
"Oh No!" He wave his hand in front of Jack telling him she isn't his wife.
"I am Margaret, he saw me on the street with my child so he decided to take us with him in this room for our safety." Margaret responded to the question of Jack instead.
Jack can see the fear in Margaret's eyes while carrying his daughter. Jack thought that maybe they have been experiencing a lot worse because of the tragedy.
"We've been seeking for help for so long here and suddenly you appeared and we are so grateful for that." The guy speak out his gratefulness like God heard his prayers.
Jack heard something from the outside of the room. He walk his way to the door. Slowly. And get his ears to the door. A growling sound and sniffing sound of a living dead. Jack quickly signal them to stay down and be quiet. And then the six of them stay quiet while trying to look Jack near the door of the room.
Jack slowly walk again inside near the window and tries to look down and check the surroundings of the building.
"Do you have other company with you?" Ask by the guy who was always talking and answering Jack. Jack suddenly stop from looking around when he heard that guy asking. But he didn't bother to answer his question.
"Is there anyone here aside from the six of you?" Jack ask instead.
"All I know is , it's just the six of us." The guy responded.
They are talking in a whispering manner so any possible attackers (living dead) couldn't hear them.
Jack take a glance to his watch and it's already eleven o'clock in the morning and he still have more time to get them all out from the building. But he was thinking HOW? Just by looking at them specially to the one who were sitting at the wheel chair. Jack thought of something in his mind.
That would make them out but would surely be a suicidal mission.

Nero Zero
Monsters plagued the lands for too long. No matter if one had fangs, beak, teeth, skin, fur, or feather, or was tall, stout, or diminutive, the people suffered. Until the Gadgeteers came with a device that could allow people to fight back. Powered by one's own magical power, feeding off of monster Essence, the Arbitrium bracer turned the tables. It also changed society. Strength of one's level cap was all that mattered. The strongest were Kings and Emperors. The weak or those too poor to afford the marvelous device, destitute. And so it has been for millennia. All that mattered was one's level cap. High, low, a fate decided the moment the strange contraption came alive. Too high and you were a threat to those interested in keeping the status quo, a weed to be nipped before it could grow and take root. Too low and you were nobody, fated to be a bit more than a simple farmer. What if someone, somewhere, came up with a zero for their level cap? Unable to use Essence, unable to level up. On all of recorded history, it never happened. Until it did. In a small village of fur-less and tail-less ape-beastkin, a boy found out he was uniquely handicapped. Nero's level cap was Zero. But he'd never let that stop him from reaching his goals. ------------------------------------------------ All stories have already been told. We merely reuse elements from them. From Joseph Campbell's Monomith to Stephen King's advice, and that encyclopedia of tropes you've visited, fiction has been dissected and reassembled countless times. One will surely find elements inspired on other works here. Just like cooking from basic ingredients, the recipe and presentation is what really matter. This is a fantasy adventure, of someone that goes from a zero to a slightly bigger zero. It will have romance but no harem. Cruelty but with hope dimly shining ahead. Lightweight where it can be, heavy where it must. Thanks for reading. Cover Credits (The cover is CC-BY-NC-SA): Steampunk Spider Bracer, by Daniel Proulx.
