《Without horizon》Chapter Thirteen - Radio chat

"Anyone who wants to get to the capital, to advance after payment" shouted one of the gatekeepers as I waited in line. This is the moment I have been waiting for, and with it, I have progressed to the gate along with a diverse group of races from all corners of the federation, waiting for the gate to boot. It did not take long until I was sent to the capital and proceeded straight to a large building that stood next to the hall where the emergency meeting I had attended the day before had taken place.
Once I got in there, there was a large number of stands where a group of Larmyah was standing trying to connect cables from one end to the other at a dizzying pace. It is especially easy for us to have 12 arms. But the reason I came here is to try to connect with someone who can help me.
"Hello, what is your act yes today?" The secretary of the place asked me.
"I came to contact Mantodea's science department directly"
"And you have permission to do this?" I presented an ID card to confirm and she took it from me and went to the offices that were in the back. After a short time she came back and gave it back to me:
"Yes, Drax, right? We have all the credentials" she replied:
"What should I do?" I asked her
"Nothing, you just have to wait here until we get an answer"
"Excellent! I'm already waiting for me on the side" I went to one of the benches and waited there. It took much longer than I thought. I think it was already getting dark until she came back to me with an answer:
"Drax? You got in touch with the destination, feel free to move on"
This is my cue. I soon made my way to a room with a large radio receiver. I went in and they closed the door right behind me. This place is an important place to keep secrets and that is why I chose to get there.
The moment I grabbed the receiver, a voice came from him:
"Drax? Are you here?"
"Yes" I answered him
"It's not something ordinary where a thaumaturgist calls us, especially a leader in the field"
"Yes, I know we are not in a good relationship between the parties"
One of the things that separated us is the attitude of pure research toward nature around us. We explore the magical side of currents and nature while they explore the nature of things accurately, and not one who believes in magic so much.

"If who am I talking to?" I asked the voice
"Chief Scientist Charic"
"What an honor is for me" I did not expect him to answer me. I remember him from the emergency meeting, especially after he asked me a few things.
"Leave the compliments, you have a reason to use direct contact with us instead of direct radio"
"Yes, no one answered me there"
"True. This whole department was redirected to another place, in hindsight it's silly of me to have this team, but I still did not expect you to answer us, and that too would have been more thoughtful since wasting important manpower."
"I do not think it is my business to ask why, so I will turn to the reason I came" After taking a deep breath through the siphon, I began to speak:
"I came here to ask for help with something you might be able to help us with."
"What do you need help with? We have a limited amount of time"
"With something called 'The Core of the Past' that came from Find A-002"
"What? It's not something you're supposed to know about! Not now at least" he said in a chilling voice. I've encountered this before.
"I already know everything about this project, no need to bite it anymore. I just want to ask for help and access to your 'computers'. We think there is something only you can do."
There was no sound from it until I almost thought it hung up, but that's not the case:
"The core of the past was not something we tried to open in the past without success? Why is it catching interest right now?"
"I want to find a way to return the mana currents to the current state, and I think the ball contains the answer to the problem"
"So you want to try to open the ball? I do not think it is possible at the moment?"
"Because you moved the whole department to another place?"
"Yes"
"So why are you staying behind?"
"We need something to take care of our things" Out of the receiver comes the noise of something falling. Similar to a pile of books scattered on the floor
"I see, so there's no way we can use your invention? I understand the last time you tested was last decades, so why not now, having more knowledge on how to handle it?"
"Are you trying to persuade me to use computers to open the ball? You're completely desperate, Drax."

"I'm just trying to find any light of hope to try to keep this thing from happening" I replied to him in all sincerity. After another brief silence, he replied:
"I guess if something like this happens, I guess I can give you access there."
"Excellent, we'll be there soon!"
"Stop your body for a moment" he stopped me from disconnecting.
"You assume you know this thing is soon to be completed"
"The project? Already? That's why all your people went out there I guess"
"Yes" he replied: "The federation puts this project a top priority, and they want to come to terms with it as soon as possible"
"And you agreed to that? As the representative of ..."
"Everyone agreed! Including me" he raised his voice
"But why? Why not try to fight for our homes and get the currents back? I tr .."
"We do this to take time to solve this problem!" He replied angrily. After a few moments he calmed down while I was stunned and kept talking:
"We do not know why this is happening and why. We have found a piece of information that can help us get around this problem and take time until we can fix it."
"And are you going to believe in something ancient? From something that was imprisoned in a bunker preserved and full of metallic creatures? It sounds like you're going blind on something like that."
"But this is the only way to survive!"
"What is so urgent to do about this?" I try to get answers from him, but I stopped myself, as it could hurt the chances of finding a solution:
"Leave it, I feel it will lead nowhere. If there's anything I think needs to be done, it's not to doubt the federation right now, especially in front of one of the delegates. Why are you trying to stop me?"
After complete silence, he returned with an answer:
"It's because I think it will not give you the answer you are looking for. But I guess you want to solve this problem instantly. I will ask a representative to stay in the building and give you access to the computers. I do not think we will see you soon because of the project. What are you looking for "
All that is left now is a white noise emanating from the receiver. Now I know it's over. I knocked on the door and a guard was opening the door, escorting me outside. I left a charge for the call and all I had left to do instead was go back through the gate. It turns out that it was already getting dark by the time night lights started to light on the trails. I realized I did not have much time until the doors closed. I hovered straight to the place and provided with it at the last minute before they banned access to others and with it, I went back to my building.
When I got into it, only a small number of my staff were waiting for me.
"Where is everybody?" I asked them, and out of one of the corridors Qiqi came out to see me:
"There was a call for help from the federation, and with him, your lieutenant answered the call, and took everyone who was under him to answer him"
"And do you know where they went?"
"They moved on to Ferlth-De Union. I do not know the reason, but I guess it's something to do with theirs. Maybe with the heat shields, I do not know, that's how I heard."
"I do not like how things are progressing now, but I was able to gain access there, and tomorrow we will meet there"
"This is good news!" Replied one of the remaining workers, but he noticed something strange in his expression.
"I guess it did not go easily" she knew immediately what I was going through at the moment.
"I'm afraid we do not have much time before it goes ahead"
"What happened? The Astra" the employee asked
"I think I should share them with this" Qiqi signaled positively and then I started talking about everyone present at the scene. Everything left in front of them is just a sign of discomfort.
"So this is why you want to explore this ball? I guess we need to find a way to restore the currents before it's too late" the employee said and with him, everyone joined. I was left just feeling good that there was more of a man trying to find a solution instead of running away from it.
Tomorrow I will know everything.

The Adventures Of Heegan, Bleegan, Hoogan, and Bloogan: The Search For The Enchanted Toad Of Delarmir
This is a tale of four young goblin brothers, whose adventures and calamities are told as legends and jokes throughout the land. But they were first inspired by legends they heard, before ascending into one themselves; a reminder that simple beginnings can be the start of something great. Written for my D&D 5e party after they demanded I write an actual story about a children's book they found in one of our sessions, so I wrote it as it would appear in game as a childrens story. I took a very different approach on writing it, so do not be too disappointed when you find out it's not written at first grade reading level. Feedback is much appreciated, as I have never produced anything like this and I do hope I manage to entertain at least a few of you. New chapter releases to be within 3-5 days of one another (Work is now complete, do not expect new chapters).
