《Without horizon》Chapter Eight - Old Rocc

"It took more effort than we thought" I thought to myself as we tried to figure out how to mine non-mining material. But thanks to the sources of knowledge we received from Regalis about the properties of the material, we were able to understand how to create such a tool, and more from behind we sent templates to follow in line. That for my part, that the production of such a thing was their problem.
"Good job" I turned to the rest of my team while everyone was exhausted from work: "We managed to finish the task ahead of time, I think today is enough work. You are released early today" The rest of the team cheered and started getting ready to leave, but I, I have something I Want to confirm something.
"Are you not going to rest too boss?" One of the team members asked me
"No, I have another breaker I want to take care of" I replied to them as I took the opportunity to sneak in a levitation straight to the radio. I started composing a few things before trying to link the line to someone I'm sure might know the concept of one of the findings mentioned in the document.
It took quite a bit to wait, I almost gave up when I realized it was probably not available, but it did not disappoint me:
"Hello?" Sounds from the radio receiver
"Crigis! How are you" I answered straight to him "
"Drax? What are you calling? It does not matter what you usually do"
"You're right" I replied
"If you called me, it means you got entangled with the metal ball I gave you" I realized in my arms was the ball on me, as I remembered while he was talking that I did not forget him on the airship or anywhere else, but I soon felt his presence in one of the pockets.
"No, luckily for you"
"So why did you come to call me? Need love advice? I do not remember an old man like you still able to find love" I heard him giggle
"Very funny"
After a brief silence, I was able to find the right words for him to understand me.
"I came to ask you about some find you know me, maybe not"

"’ with the amount of findings I have given you, I'm not sure to remember even if you tell old Rocc like me who remembers everything he saw" I think I hear him choking on his siphon with laughter.
"Okay okay .. do you know any find called A-002?"
In an instant, his giggle disappeared and became serious. I do not like this direction. I do not like this direction.
"How do you know about that name?"
I knew that!
"I received from the president a document mentioning the name, I guess you know about it"
"I may not have been alive when this thing was taken out of the ruins, but it's a living legend that every archaeologist knows about. And even then, it's a secret that forbids knowing about it," he whispered to me, in a worried voice.
"I think I already know about this secret" I replied to him
"If the President has given you a piece of information about this, I suppose you also know about this thing. Then I have nothing to hide" sounded heavy with fear.
"Is it worth it so terribly?"
"Yes, the finding itself is not the worrying thing as you know. These are what he revealed and gave us: fear"
Quietly I looked around to see that no one was hearing about it:
"Are you talking about the 'Great Escape'?"
"Yes, that thing, shattered every bubble we lived in. That the world we live in is nothing more than a big lie. That there are other things outside that we are unable to see. A place without a horizon."
"Are you talking about having another universe besides ours?"
"This is not the reason to worry, these are why it exists"
The atmosphere became heavier and heavier with every word he said so far, realizing how awful it was.
"To me what we got out of this find, I was hoping they would not be able to decipher these plates, but curiosity killed the dragon, and now, many years since the discovery these are from above living in fear and preparing for the worst" he breathed for one second: "and I guess they are going to take out with him "It seems this thing is closer than ever."

"What's close?"
"The end of this world, the end of everything." He said this and I realized that the document does not lie at all if he said they were told about it by someone else. But then he interrupted my thinking:
"You know something, if it's already starting to move, I think I'll tell you one more thing: the metal ball I gave you, is the thing the find gave us before he died."
The core of the past.
"If it was so secret, then why did you give it to me?"
"It was not useful to us. Everyone checked and scanned this thing, and found nothing there except perhaps engravings, probably for the sake of beauty."
"So you were hoping I could solve this mystery?"
"No! I was just thinking of annoying you. But now that it's on the agenda, I think it's no better time than to find out what's hiding there. With today's knowledge and technology, maybe we can finally know what's hiding there."
"I think I can try to look at it in-depth, hopefully, the thing you said is not true"
"And even if I do, I'm not afraid. I've already lived long enough on this island. I've already experienced more things than I thought imaginable. I'm already happy with all these things, I do not want my daughters to know of a disaster approaching. I pray in her name that she is not Experience this terrible thing "
"I'll try to get to the truth of it, and I'll try to find a way to stop it. I think this bullet will help find a solution to stop this thing."
"I do not know if it will find a solution, but even so, I think the 'Great Escape' will at least give new life to everyone here" he gave hope to himself and I felt it too. After such a heavy issue of doom, I did not expect anything more than that.
"I'm sure I'll get to the root of the matter. I'm sorry about that."
"It's nothing" he replied in the affirmative: "Resurrection as if it were your last day,
And you will succeed in cracking this tough ball "
In one moment I lost the line and I had only one thing left in my heart:
"And what if I do not succeed" I thought about it for a moment.
"I know he will succeed, I am after all the one who knows how to check things like that. I will use everything I have. Even if it crosses with the law."
I think I will stay here for a very long time.
"What I heard is true?" Out of the shadow, Qiqi suddenly emerged from the lintel. I had a startling face do not understand how she got there.
"How much did you hear from the conversation?"
"Since the sentence 'the end of everything'" she also looks scared, and I understand that I have no way of escaping from it or lying to her about this thing.
"I think you should know about that too. But next time, do not listen to other people's conversations!"
It took the whole evening to explain everything to her.
"I think you should not do this alone" she straightened up after I told her everything: "Even if it gives a bad feeling, I know you messed with more dangerous things than trying to crack some little metal ball" she replied:
"Do not believe everything that is" she noted: "What if this thing was built by bored children"
"How can children build such a sophisticated thing as a living creature?" I asked her as if she knew it might be a huge prank.
"The Mantis managed to do this, didn't they?" She noted the fact that they were able to create clones of themselves.
"Yes, but it's a thing ..."
"ahap.." she put one of her arms straight into my siphon, trying to silence me:
"You do not know what is hidden there until you find out. Right now focus on what is now, I will make you tea and rest. I have already finished handling all the paperwork you have been influencing everywhere with most of the magic of the coded plaques" she walked straight out of the room.
"Is that what old Roccs knew? I'm too old to talk like that" I giggled to try to forget the conversation between us on the radio.
