《Silverwing: Guardian》Chapter 11

It didn't take long for Chase to arrive at the city's electricity plant. The metal fence surrounding the site was torn open, with several guards lying on the ground with scorch marks. In addition, many machines, like metal towers and generators, on the outside were torn apart, and a gaping hole burned into the main facility.
Chase silently took the whole scene in as he walked around the area. He assumed that the Technician must be inside. He felt the Shockers at his belt, making sure they were still there.
Walking into the dark facility, Chase turned on his night vision and scanned the area. His phosphorescent rings shined across the walls and other stuff. However, it made him stick out like a light bulb. He felt an invisible force wrap around his body like a tight fist, pressuring his armor inward and finding it harder to breath, before it flung him backwards into a generator.

"I had a feeling I'd be seeing you again," the robotic voice of the Technician echoed in the facility.
Chase struggled to get up from the shock and the smashed generator, but the energy released from it seeped into his veins. The Technician's green and black figure jumped down from a railing behind Chase and landed in front of him, with his green eye shining and his white lab coat still draped on him; although not without some noticeable scratches and rips.
"Despite my warning. But I suppose the research I've done on you would explain that," the Technician continued. "So, you really are the Guardian of Horizon City. Quite impressive, especially after that...tragic accident."
Chase managed to get a footing and stood back up, ready to face this thing, or at least he hoped.
"Although, I suppose it was a nice artificial recovery. A new body that would give you more benefits than not. But it would seem that your greatest strength is now your greatest weakness, at least when it comes to me." Chase narrowed visor. "As you can see already," the Technician spread his arms out at the rest of the broken room and absorbed some more machines. "I have the power to control technology. Every machine, weapon, tool, is at my mercy. Including your cyborg body that Zone has so graciously given you."

"So, that really was it," Chase said, grimacing at the added challenge.
"I didn't know it at first, but now you see how you can't stop me. So, run along and stay away from my business. Or I'll break you apart like every other machine."
"Since you know I'm the Guardian, then you know I can't do that."
The robot's eye glinted, "I was hoping you'd say that." The Technician pointed an arm at Chase, attempting to grab him with the same invisible force. But this time, Chase was faster, and in a flash, he dashed out of his range. Bouncing on a brick wall and coming at him from the side, unsheathing and slashing with his sword. With the cackling of lightning, Chase struck down a long scorching streak against the Technician who backed away with a hiss.

The Technician growled before firing laser blasts, of which Chase dodged and kept zooming around him. Just gotta keep moving, faster than he can get me.
"You think you can beat me by just being fast?" The Technician grabbed another generator and chucked it at Chase, who had to slow down to dodge it. But it was enough for the Technician to catch the cyborg in his invisible grasp.
Chase groaned, struggling to release himself as the Technician lifted him up in the air and reeled him in. He could feel his armor constricting and his insides shifting. Chase tried his best to resist, and slowly but painfully reached for the Shockers by his side. But before he could grab them, the Technician slammed him to the side and smashed into the wall, then he hit Chase with a powerful laser, scorching his side with red scars crossing his body.

"Technology is such a powerful tool. So advanced with all your weapons and gadgets. You'd think that anyone that had such power would be unstoppable, hmm?" The Technician walked over to Chase's fallen body and grabbed him by the head, lifting him up so that the two were face to face. "But now it seems a new factor has entered the equation. A factor that will forever revolutionize the power scale—what the?" The Technician pulled back in confusion as Chase had stuck a disc-like device on his chest, with a middle button that lit up three times. But then with a blast of electricity exploding out of the device, the Technician screamed out as his body got caught in the shock wave. "Why you–!"

Chase didn't waste another moment as he got back up and charged the robot.
[Battery: 56%]
He started throwing punches left and right, each one hitting the Technician and pushing him back. Then, Chase kicked up his sword from off the ground and sent a barrage of slashes and strikes, blue lights flashed all around, and the Technician could only take the attacks as he couldn't feel his powers. With five more strikes, Chase ended by slamming the Technician into the wall with a kick and blasted him outside of the building.
[Battery: 50%]
"I will do whatever it takes to protect this city," Chase growled.
"Nice trick, Silverwing," the Technician growled, getting back up from the rumble. "But I've evolved."

Chase kept moving around, dodging whatever the Technician threw at him, and he struck wherever he could. But it still wasn't enough, the effects of the Shocker had long ended, and the Technician would always just keep coming back, repairing any damage that Chase would deal.
Chase dodged another green laser beam, which hit a nearby power tower - melting the steel legs but somehow it still stood, albeit on the verge of collapse. Unfortunately, in the chaos, the Technician caught up to Chase and blasted his leg with a searing blast.
Falling to the ground, Chase tried to get back up, but it was clear his leg was severely damaged from the blast, and the Technician got a hold of him. The robot slammed him into the ground and dragged him through the asphalt before smashing him into a brick wall. Chase tried to get up again, but the Technician wouldn't let up, picking him up again and throwing Chase face-down into a wire fence.
"It's a shame. I'll admit you're one of the most advanced forms of technology I've ever seen. A full-body prosthetic that not only gives you life, but also enhanced abilities close to what some might call superpowers. I suppose Marcus really does have a brain. However…" Chase felt his body freeze again, and his head forcibly picked up to look the Technician in his bright green orb for an eye. "I already gave you enough warning, and I cannot allow you to get in my way again. Perhaps I'll rebuild you again in the future."
Chase's body started to change, getting stiffer and stiffer, but at the same time lighter. His hands and feet started to change into the green and black substances that the Technician always did to the other machines. He tried his best to resist it, knowing exactly what was happening. But he knew it wouldn't take long and that there was nothing he could do, and that fact made him terrified. A feeling that he hadn't acknowledged in a long time, but it was a feeling that he always had.
He was going to die and the Technician would keep going, causing havoc and who knows what else. When will he be stopped? Who would be able to stop him? If he wasn't around, then how much further would the Technician go before he was taken down...if he was taken down? He had failed.
