?? "...wha? What happened?!... Ugh! My head hurts!"

... The injured castrastrian tries to pull themself back up, but it is painful so painful. They look down to see that their knees and legs are bloodied and stained like they were just in a car crash.

?? "It hurts."

They thought, gathering just enough strength and endurance to get onto a pedestal.

Beep. Beep.

?? "Huh, what's that? A call?"

They can hear the sound repeating within their heads. Without a second thought, they grab their antennae with both of their hands and pick up the call.

?? "FOR GOODNESS SAKE! AN! Are you alright?!"

AN "Ye-Yes, First Commander? Is that you?... Aah! Just how long have I been out?"

?? "You have been out for 10 hours! I was worried sick! How are your surroundings?"

AN turns to look around the room, the walls and ceilings are longer a pitch dark void. Wait, is that... the outside?

AN "Ooooh shit! I think they blew up the morality grotto! I have to escape!"

AN panics and grabs the relic laying on the pedestal. They rush toward what they presume is the outside. They get closer and CLOSER and...

Thud! AN falls to the floor and the relic levitates back to the pedestal.

AN "OW! What the hell?!"

?? "AN? Are you okay? Wait, did you seriously just run into a wall?"

AN stands back up and reaches their hands in front of them. To their surprise, the wall of the room is still there.

AN "Ok. This is weird. Like very weird. I can see the outside. But I guess the room's wall is still there? It's like a one-way window. At least, I hope it's. I don't want anyone spying on me in here."

?? "You are right, AN. It is exactly like a one-way mirror. Seeing your location from this drone, I can confirm that."

AN "Really? Can you tell me any other details?"

?? "Of course, I can. To blunt, I have to say the grotto you're in isn't really a "grotto". It is more like a...

?? "... a giant metal egg, my liege. Its appearance is like a giant egg, those similarly laid by the earth feathery creature called a "chicken."

"... that's quite interesting. But what I'm surprised about is that it somehow SURVIVED THE BLAST! HOW?! I WANT ANSWERS!"

The Empress slams the arms of her throne in a fit of rage.

The first general responds by tidying his hands with a soft and beautiful napkin, its corners decorated with spirals of blue roses. A habit that he partakes in when things go out of hand, especially when the Empress is angry.

After finishing his little routine, he tucks the napkin back into his pocket located somewhere around his left knee. Immediately afterward, the general gets on his knees and prepares to take any punishment for his mistakes.

General1 "I'm sorry my liege! Due to some strange. Umm... Reasons. The grotto now has a shield covering its circumference. Its appearance is like a soap bubble, but attacking it causes flashes of a single color followed by a large symbol which disappears after a short time. I don't what happened, but this shield completely negated the blast. Leaving us....with..."

The general gulps and continues.

General1 "... with 25 broken high-powered nanotech force fields, 2456 total casualties in soldiers and civilians, and a massive crater reaching just far enough that we can see it from the window. Also, there are riots, lots and lots of riots. The blast was more powerful than we thought, thinking that we could contain it was foolish on my part. It's my fault! Please punish me!"

"No. Honestly I should take the blame for allowing this decision to take flight... Damn it all though. 100 suns downed the drain! 50 for the actual blast and 50 for containing it! I truly thought they could cancel each other out."

General1 "My liege! Don't down yourself! We were in unknown territory, that is all!"

"Heh. You sure know how to make someone feel better..."

Black teardrops pour from her left eye.

But in that split second, four of her upper arms reach for a couple of feathers from her seat and wipe off the tear, just like using a piece of tissue paper.

General1 "Wow! Was my Empress this fast?! Atlas, I still yet to know her past. Maybe one day. Maybe one day."

She looks to the first general, he seems he got something else to say and that makes her somewhat curious.

"What so anxious, general? Is there something else you want to share?"

General1 "Yes. As always, my liege knows no bound. We did a couple of... experiments on both the grotto's shield and the orange crystal that General Karlac brought in that was used to concentrate the blast."

"Wait! Before you go on, how is he holding up?"

General1 "General Karlac ooor..... oh. He is... He is in a bit of a comatose state. I believe the shock from releasing all that energy completely knocked him out."

The empress grips the arms of her marble throne, and a sense of panic and urgency can be seen on her face. She is worried. But she quickly calms down,

"They must not know"

General1 "My liege? Is everything alright?"

"No, it is fine. Please move on to what you found during testing. We can start with the shield."

General1 "As you wish. The grotto's shield seems to be some kind of adaptive mechanism and any impact that goes toward it, causes different effects to take place to counter the impact. One major example is when we sent out that guy."

"Wait, you don't mean the second general! You know it is fucking dangerous sending that battle-hungry lunatic. The guy could be hurt..... HAHAHA! LOL, just kidding. Go on."

General1 "Hahaha, that was a marvelous joke, your highness. But I actually did try to stop him. Atlas, he was too stubborn, so I let him have a go."

"...and the result? Did he lose a leg or what?"

General1 "Well, nothing much happened. When he struck the shield with his powerful scythe, the blow never came like it is stopped in its track or it never happened."

"When he struck it, what was the symbol on the shield?"

General1 "It was some sort of yellow scale. I don't know what it means."

"It means Law. The third general's attack was vaporized using the power of law, most likely the shield removed the force of the scythe, and it made the impact never happened. With this, I can say that the shield blocks attacks by using the 12 aspects as its coating."

General1 "I see. So those symbols were the aspect symbols. Very interesting knowing about this for the first time, my liege."

"Of course, cause the appearance of the relic was meant to be a secret... until some rat found out where I stored the damn thing. A problem caused by my past recklessness. But I shouldn't let past mistakes get to me... especially not now. We should... move on to the crystal."

General1 "Right! Umm, what we knew before was that the crystal can help control, pause, and concentrate heat to near-perfect capacity, allowing us to form the blast from compressing 50 suns. What we didn't know was that it has a radius of influence. When the suns were being compressed, their heat started building up and reaching unimaginable degrees. A temperature that was stable when near the crystal. However, as the blast left the vicinity of the crystal, it started to shake uncontrollably like the 50 suns are fighting to get out. This led to the blast splitting off to bits of destructive drops, making it more like a shatter shot than a blast."

"And some of those shots were aimed at different places near the force field generators instead of a centralized area. Which leads to our losses... It's almost like fate is fighting against us."

She lets out a small chuckle and chugs down a liter load of red liquid down her throat.

General1 "My liege, please forgive my curiosity... but what are you drinking?"

"Cherry juice. What? You thought it was blood because I was drinking from a skull cup! I might be ruthless but I'm not a cannibal."

General1 "No, of course not my liege! Please ignore my foolish question!"

Her hands form an OK hand sign and she urges him to continue more about the crystal.

General1 "Oh yes, the crystal. We have learned that it's good at sustaining energy generation. The maximum and most efficient way of using this is putting it near to the heat conversion generators we have on the hottest star in the universe known as Omnistar or Wolf-Rayet star WR 102 as the humans call it. We then took those generators along with the crystal back to Caverrin, removing the travel time needed to collect our energy source. I say this is far better and safer than any of those rotatenium generators. The only problem is where do we get more of these crystals?"

"You have a point. If we get our hands on more of these. Creating 100 suns worth of energy back would be a breeze. No. We could do more, the possibilities are endless! We can finally conquer the entire Universe as a whole! General, call in The DOC! We need him to learn more about the crystal. However, make sure he doesn't break it! His habit of dissecting and breaking parts may cost us our door to ultimate conquest."

General1 "Yes! It will be done at once!"

The general begins to walk to the door, but the empress uses her pheromone wave to stop his progress.

General1 "Umm, my liege... Have I done something wrong?"

"I didn't tell you to leave. Did I?"

General1 "No. I just assume that... never mind. Is there something my liege want to know?"

"I'm still not satisfied with the result of our attack! There must be something that happens to the sniveling little rat and her friends."

General1 "You'll be glad to know that the rat has sustained some injury from the blast. At least that is what our health sensors picked up."

"Excellent. Good. Good. About those humans, have you contacted general Karlac?"

General1 "I have my liege. But he is unresponsive, the rude bastard."

"Now there general, it was my suggestion that he takes a rest. Although, I'm surprised that he actually did it which is quite odd considering his personality and hot-headedness."

General1 "I say he is taking it TOO well, as it has been two days."

The Empress ~ sighs ~, she isn't angry or disappointed but is impatient to know what has occurred.

________________________________________________________

Unknowing to her, what truly occurred is downright horrifying.

For the warriors, they were sent into a place no human should ever be.

A stench of decay, of rot and grim, lingers within this place. A smell is so foul that even the most diseased of vermins would hurl in disgust.

Asleep, a blonde girl lay unaware of her surroundings. Then she feels... something... something squirming up her left leg.

Her eyes open wide.

?? "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Ewww! GOT OFF ME!"

She kicks it away and retreats against a wall, trying her best to stand up. But it was too slimy and slippery. She then backs herself to a corner, scared and confused with nowhere to go.

The girl glances at the thing she kicked.

Its skin looks like it's made of rubber, its appearance is similar to a silkworm but larger like about the size of a football. The creature begins to move, its mass slides across the floor toward her.

She scrambles for a way out, but there is none. The only way is forward, so she clutches her arms against the walls. What? They... They are fleshy!

?? "What the fuck?! No, this is not the time!"

Despite the morbid realization, the blondie stabs her hands into the walls.

THE WHOLE BUILDING RUMBLES BRIEFLY THEN IT STOPS.

She quickly pushes herself to a standing position against the wall. The girl brings her arms up for battle.

?? "Bring it on! I have dealt with more silkworms than you think!"

The creature sees her shouting as an act of aggression and so it emits a high-pitched shriek. One by one, rows of sharp pointy legs burst out from under it. The creature accelerates toward the girl and leaps, aiming its mouth toward her face.

?? "ARGH!"

She manages to grab the creature's neck region and stomps on its lower body to prevent it from moving further. Unfortunately, the creature's legs pinch down on her leg, and she begins to bleed. She sees the creature reveal its disgusting mouth, it drools globs of mucus and has rows of rotating fangs.

It tries to get closer and closer to her face, spitting out more mucus.

?? "Please, give me something! Anything to kill this thing! Please!"

Her hands begin to glow white and strange clock marks appear all over the creature's rubbery skin.

They begin turning clockwise. Faster and Faster.

The worm-like creature begins to show wrinkles, its skin starts turning pale and loose in her hands. Weak enough for her to stomp the creature in two, leaving its decapitated parts to spasm and die out. The creature gives one last shriek before slowly turning to dust and flies out of her hands.

A blue window pops up and the girl inspects it.

|Emergency detected. Generating a random skill best suited.|

Mina: |1. Aging| learned!

?? "Ah, I see. I remember now, I'm The Aspect of Time! I'm Mina!"

Mina looks around and sees her hat glued to the wall on her right. It looks like the wall itself is eating it.

Mina "Hey! That's mine!"

She slowly scooches over there and tries to yank it out, but the wall refuses to let it go. It releases several fleshy tendrils which wrap around the hat. Mina sees this and puts her left hand over them. She activates |1.Aging| and the tendrils die out.

OOOARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

The building rumbles and shakes.

This caused her to lose her balance, slipping and falling toward a hole on the other side of the room.

However, she sticks the landing on the lower floor and takes a look around. This floor is not slimy but is made of a thick layer of fur.

She reaches for her pockets and grabs a couple of bandages to patch up her wounds. Mina then enjoys a short moment of silence, but suddenly-

?? "Take this!"

Mina hears the shout coming from the next room in front of her. She knows this voice.

Mina "Azzy, is that you?! Hold on, I'm coming!"

She runs forward, but there's a fleshy door that blocks her passage and so she tries to nudge it open. But it is sealed shut, so she peers through its membrane-like window to see what's happening.

There she sees two massive rats with veiny green eyes and claws sharp enough to scratch through steel, and a multi-segmented bony tail with a large stinger on its tip.

She also sees her friend, injured beyond her imagination with three diagonal scratch wounds torn through his flesh and clothing. One on his chest, one on his back, and one down his right leg. Other wounds she sees are puncture wounds along his arms, but they don't seem deep or cause any kind of bleeding.

Fearing that he might run out of steam, the determined girl pushes hard on the door with a lot of her strength and activates |1. Aging|.

The door begins to turn to dust. She breaks through and jump-kicks one of the rats.

Mina "Back off my friend!"

She turns to Azan, he's out of breath and too tired to spew a single word. However, he feels relief seeing her in front of him and he lies down on the floor unconscious.

Mina "Sleep well, Azzy. You deserve it. I'll deal with these guys. Don't you worry!"

She looks again at the rats, they look extremely agitated and get into a defensive position using their forearms forward and their hind legs moving back while their tails curl up. This behavior seems similar to her, like a kind of a creature she used to deal with.

Mina "That's it! These guys are like scorpions! I just need a way to get behind them."

Mina thinks, "perhaps a distraction" is her first thought. She looks around the room for bait, there's none. She ~sighs~ and backs against the wall.

Mina "Wait! The walls! Of course!"

Mina plunges her hands once more into the fleshy insides of the wall and starts activating |1. Aging|.

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

The building shakes more violently.

The shockwave sends the two rats bumping each other. Luckily, she wasn't affected since she clung to the wall. Azan however is now on the other side behind both the dizzy rats.

Mina "Shit! I have to hurry!"

She runs and slides beneath the rat on the left flawlessly. Mina grabs onto the back of its tail tightly and uses |1. Aging|.

She can feel the bone beginning to soften, frail enough for her to snap it off completely. But she didn't snap it, instead, she keeps holding on and the rat tries to shake her off.

Slowly its strength vanishes and succumbs to the sweet release of death.

RARGGG!

The other rat sees its friend dead on the floor and grows angry, it charges straight toward Mina.

Mina "It's too fast! I can't dodge it!"

It opens its mouth and prepares to chomp down on Mina. She closes her eyes and puts up her arms to guard against it.

Crunch.

Huh. No pain. She hears the sounds of crushing bones and opens one of her eyes.

Mina "Oh my god!"

Azan is standing there tanking the blow with his right arm and drawing back his left arm. Its mass grows about three times before delivering a lethal punch to the rat's skull, killing the creature instantly.

Azan "Don't....mess... with....my... gi-

He collapses, a waterfall of blood pouring out of his body from every wound like a water balloon getting popped. She begins to cry, trying her best to cover them.

Mina "No! No no no! You can't die like this! I won't let you!"

She puts all her hopes and will into her hands on his chest. Tears begin to fall one by one.

She hopes for anything. Anything to save her friend.

She shouldn't have used up all her bandages, her heart is filled with regret. She cries and cries, but nothing happens but then... the skill window keeps popping up.

It spells out |!ERROR!|, and she gets mad. Mina punches it, but her hand goes through the holographic panel.

Mina "Shut up! I just want to go back!"

|Maximum will detect. Auto skill granted.|

Mina: |2. Time exchange|

Mina "What the fuck does that even mean?!"

|Time Exchange: Restore anything to its original state by touching it with the user's right hand. However, something else must age forward to a future state to meet the skill's requirement. It can be done with the user's left hand. The target can't be inanimate or an object. The returned state Must be on the same day.|

Mina wipes off her tears, as granules of hope are coming back to her.

Mina "So It's like healing with a cost. It's worth a shot! But what to exchange."

She franticly looks around the room, and the only things in sight fresh enough are the walls.

Mina stands up and looks at the closest wall on her left, nervous because this is the third time. She gulps down her fears and taps Azan with her right and the wall with her left.

Activating |2. Time Exchange|

She looks in awe and joy as her friend's wound closes at astonishing speed. He wakes up and Mina hugs him.

Azan "A-ah! Mina. What? Where? What happened?"

Mina "You were injured, silly! Like bleeding everywhere!"

Azan "Oh. Sorry, I made you worry."

Mina "It's okay. We were just in a bad place at a bad time. That's all! Let's get out of this place and find the others."

Azan nods and they carry each other up. Too clueless to notice the walls and ceiling beginning to fall apart, dropping down small lumps of flesh.

One lands on Azan's shoulder.

Azan "What the hell? The walls are melting!"

Mina "What do we do, Azzy?!"

Azan eyes the wall next to them and tries to punch it. It works and the wall breaks open, revealing a view of the outside world.

Mina "What?! You can break the walls! Why didn't you try to escape earlier?!"

Azan "I don't know, the wall this time is a bit weaker. I don't suppose.... you know anything about that. Do you?"

Mina pows and refuses to answer. The two warriors approach the opening and look outside.

Their faces are filled full of dread and horror.

There are hundreds. No. Thousands of similar buildings. Some are even walking with six gargantuan sinuwe legs. The roads are covered in a layer of flesh and razor-sharp bone that pokes out from the ground.

The sky is a dark crimson red with no clouds, only monsters. The largest and most noticeable of which is a brain-looking creature, it has millions of tendrils propelling itself in the air. Almost like it is escaping from the buildings.

Azan "Mina... Are we in hell?"

She looks at him, his face devoid of hope and losing all faith in escaping, and so she slaps him.

Mina "Get a hold of yourself! It's not over yet! If we can find Kanji, we can get out of this! You hear me! We will live!"

Her words reach him, and his resolve returns from the depth of despair.

Azan "Yes... you're right. Kanji can fix this! First, we need to find him... Umm... Mina?"

Mina "... I think I found everyone. Buuut it looks pretty bad."

Azan turns to where she's looking, across the way is a rooftop covered in strange webbing material similar to gossamer. Eight cocoons are bundled up in one corner of the area, each with a human face sticking out. It is clear as day that those are their friends.

Azan "Oh god! Those are the others! If only I have my suitcase!"

Mina "What for? I thought it was only for storage or document stuff."

Azan "No, it is a kind of shifting multi-tool that can serve five functions or five forms to be more accurate. Attack. Defense. Flight. Stealth. And healing."

Mina "Wow! That's would have been super convenient earlier! So does it like fold itself like The Transformers."

Azan "Yes, it does. But I think we should really find it before this whole building collapse!"

The two look back to a previous room and notice the suitcase attached to the now dissolving walls across from the door. However, their path is slowly getting shut off with mounds of fallen flesh from the upper floors.

Nevertheless, they strunt forward and slip themselves between the blobby and nasty piles. They then reach their hands to pull off the suitcase, but a barrage of tentacles lash out to grab it back.

This time is way stronger.

They wrestled against the tentacles with all they have and win, sending them flying backward on their butts.

The walls rumble, they coil around a single pivot point. An eyeball erupts from the wall's fleshy depths and glares at them.

Azan "Mina..."

Mina "RUN!"

They start retreating to the opening, the nearby walls and fleshy mounts spread and protrude, attempting to capture the two warriors. They dodge it seamlessly, until-

Mina "Help! It got my feet!"

Azan "Stay right there!"

His suitcase folds into a large mechanical saber with a multiple-segmented titanium blade that can extend into a whip. Its handle is made of silver and has a crescent-shaped crossguard with a ruby center. Azan extends the weapon's length and slices up the mass holding Mina's feet.

Azan picks her up like a princess and jumps out of the building.

Mina "Aaaaaah! What were you thinking Azzy?!"

Azan "Don't worry! I got this!'

Azan drops the suitcase and it begins to fold into a large metal disk with jets on the sides, it catches them just before they hit a cluster of sharp bones on the ground.

Mina "Woah, this is awesome! But... Can you let me down?"

Azan "Oh... uh... of course, sorry."

He puts her back down and they both blush, but it is short because they know that they need to hurry.

Azan touches the disk and it lifts them further into the air. They travel to the rooftop of the other building.

Mina "So is this thing like automatic?"

Azan "Only automatic in transforming. It has a smart AI installed that assesses any situation and adapts to solve it. Actually, using the damn thing is my responsibility."

Mina "That's... neat. Oh! We are here!"

Azan and Mina get off the flying disk, and Azan makes the disk revert back into a suitcase. They stroll quietly through the strange material, it feels like slimy cobwebs.

Finally, they make it to their friends, and the two immediately try to unbind them from their cocoons. But suddenly-

His suitcase turns into a saber.

Azan and Mina begin to panic, they scan their facility but everything was silent. Way too silent.

Azan "IT'S UP! DODGE!"

Down comes a massive spider, Mina looks at it and she knows immediately that it's similar to a funnel-web spider but... its back is filled with holes.

Are those eggs? Mina throws up from the sight of the creature.

Azan "Mina! What's wrong?! Why did you throw up?!"

Mina "I have trypophobia. I can't do this. I can't!"

Azan shakes her and stares her dead in the eye.

Azan "Listen! Our friends are in mortal danger! And We are the only ones that can save them. So pull yourself together!"

Mina "Yeah but the-

Azan "Don't worry about the damn holes! Just focus on its legs! Got it!"

Mina grabs a hold of herself and stands up with the will to fight for her friends. Her eyes only focus on the creature's legs and so she rushes toward them. Azan follows her and jumps towards its head, his saber extends to its maximum length.

Azan "Take this! You insect!"

The spide covers its face, but Azan didn't attack. He jumps off its face and sweeps his weapon across the creature's back leaving a diagonal laceration and destroying all its premature eggs. The creature screeches at him with motherly anger. She darts and catches him, pinning him down with her front two legs. However, she doesn't notice Mina clinging onto one of her back legs.

Azan "Shit. This is quite a predicament."

The creature lets out another screech before jabbing her legs into him, managing to wound both his shoulders and elbows.

His saber turns into a watch. It emits a force that blocks the mother's ongoing attacks while Mina slowly chips away at the mother's age.

As time passes, the jabbing grows lazier and less precise, and the giant spider dies from exhaustion.

Mina rushes down to Azan and lifts him to his feet.

Whorp!

The two warriors stare to see a massive portal opening up in front of them, they are stunned by its enormity.

It spawned out just where the spider once was, and now the portal slowly pulls in everything in the entire area including the eight cocoons.

Mina and Azan try to resist it, but it grows stronger and stronger and they too get sucked in.

Not before they hear a strange voice coming from the other side.

?? "You two did exemplary well. Your performance shall be recorded for research purposes if that's ok."
