Battery Chapter 3 Old man Olsis.
Character pov Lyon Amiel
After I beat the bear I went to search for that strange weapon.
I followed the path of holes limping. The 10% charge I used was only enough to stop the bleeding. After what felt like hours of walking that only was 10 minutes. I found not the spear. But the old man! With his long red hair. Thin tall frame, he was easily 7ft.
“Are you going to say, anything lad?”
“Who me?” I asked shocked
“Well yes you, I'm not talking to the birds, am I?”
“First off who are you?”
“Well, the name’s Olsis. Nice to meet ya. Ask me anything you want lad”
“Where is the weapon I used to kill that bear?”
“This might shock you lad… I'm the Weapon. Well, half of it.
I was too shocked to compute how an old man could be a weapon. And he has a strange accent that could only be called a mix of British and an Irish accent
“What are you?”
“I'm soul bonded with that weapon. Ya see lad, I killed myself with that weapon. Thar sword is the cursed sword No’beck”
“The only way it can be wielded is with a soul bond. And My family has been doing it for the past 350 years. But to think the sword would let a 4-year-old be its physical bond. You’re a strange lad. Where are your parents?”
“Dead.. They died last night.”
“Oh… I'm sorry lad.”
“Where are you going now?”
I pointed to the mountain top. “Over there”
“TO THE PEAK OF NO’BECK?! That's perfect lad. There I can train you on the 3.
Since you’re the physical bond of No’beck, I have to stay with you. It was quite fun fighting with you. I haven't been able to let loose in such a long time.”
“You was the reason why it turned on fire?”
“Yep all me lad. Besides me stealing the energy out of your body. Your energy is weird, It's not from the outside soul, no, it's from the core of the soul and the outside. You take the energy of the entire soul. The core of the soul is 1000x denser with energy than the outside. The outside shell is just the leaking of the core. You can only use the outer shell’s Ki to adjust the shape of the core. But you… You don't have any outside shell. Your core is the size of an outside shell. You can store so much more ki than even an -A class Adventure couldn't muster up. You have a devastating amount of energy you can store. As well as being able to directly take energy in front of your surroundings.”

“I'm really that special and cool?”
“Well, I have no clue why you have no outer shell. But your ki ability is definitely being able to directly take someone's energy. A truly devastating power.”
“Well I need to get going it's already been 3 days and I need to meet my Grandmother!”
“Grandmother?... You wouldn't happen to be… Lyon Amiel would you?”
‘’Yup that's me!”
“That's funny lad. I'm supposed to be your teacher for the next 8 years! I was worried to see if No’beck would even bond with such a young child. But after seeing you defeat a mother soul bear… A B-class Soul beat. I have no doubts after that. Although even if I didn't adjust the Ki, You would have still killed the Bear!”
“Hey what can I say,” I said while cockingly shrugging my shoulders.
“Lad I want to test something out. Can you adjust your soul yet?”
“Nope, not one bit.”
“Good, we can start your training on the walk. First, let me touch your chest lad.”
“Go ahead,” I said
I let the man touch my chest. He seemed to be looking for something.
After a while, he took a deep breath and said.
“Lad… I've never seen this before. You can adjust your soul in every single basic and advanced element. The four basics are Fire, wind, water, and earth. As well as their many advancements that people are still finding out to this day!”
“That's insane. I guess Grammy kept me alive for a good reason then”
“Your highest affinity is with water actually. And your second highest is ice, then wind, then fire, then lighting, then earth. But all of these affinities are that of a B+ class adventurers level.
To be honest I think you inherited your Grandmothers White ice adjustment but we’ll have to see. That ice is near absolute zero. I can't lie I’ve had my ass handed to me many times by her adjustment spells. Sorry lad im probably boring you to death.”
To be honest I was intrigued to learn about the world I live in and how cool I am.
It was a sigh of relief after my father made me out to be a failure. It's not like he was ever home with me and mom in the first place.

“No no I'm not bored at all. It's actually really cool learning about Ki, and myself.”
“Good, it's always nice to talk. Usually, when you soulbond it can take a good couple decades for No’Beck to find a physical bond.”
“Well, you’re lucky you found me.”
I gave Olsis a cheeky smile as I pondered what it meant to be bonded with No’beck.
“Why do you need to soulbond with No’beck?”
“If I didn't it would take your entire life force. I'm the weapons limiter and controller. I limit how much Ki it's fed and what it does with the Ki. Without a soulbond, it's infeasible to use the weapon without dying. If I felt like it lad I could kill you. But there is a safe switch. When a physical bond dies, I die…”
“Alright lad, I'm going to teach you how to adjust you’re soul”
“Umm… How do I even do that? I thought you could only adjust the outside shell of the soul?’
“Well normally yes, but you’re not normal. Come here lad.”
He put his hand on my chest again, but something was up. My body began to feel hot, then wet, and then it felt like I had electricity running through my body.
“Well, you can definitely adjust your soul. But since it's your core that your adjusting you take on some of the elements as well. So I’d be careful whenever you adjust until you master Ki control.”
“Let me try to adjust it on my own.”
“Go ahead lad.”
I closed my eyes and searched my body for my soul. Once I found it, adjusting it is like molding wet clay. But there are certain hard spots that take a lot more effort to mold. I'm assuming those are the elements that I have the lowest affinity with. Just looking at my soul a large translucent green sphere
“Lad, what color of your ki?”
“Why? It's a translucent green.”
“GREEN? That's the second-highest ki output one can have. Output is how fast you can release ki outside of your core. It goes from grey-blue-purple-green-orange, then there's red…
But that causes permanent damage to your core. You are one anomaly Lyon.”
“I'm going back to trying to adjust my core.”
As I honed my focus again, I formed my core in the easiest way possible. My body started to feel cold… very cold. But it was a pleasant cold, not where I would die of frostbite. To my shock when I opened my eyes every tree in sight was frozen over!
I looked around for where Olsis could be, only to realize that the sword of No’beck was sitting right next to me. I went to hold the weapon once more…
“Lad, you almost froze me to death!”
“Olsis? Where are you?”
“Remember I am the sword!”
“Oh yeh. Well, how do I unshape my core?”
“You have to do it your self lad!”
As the wind started to pick up and it started to rain… I started to lose focus. My soul has become unstable. I cant reshape my core!. The blazing wind turned into searing blades left and right. My body turned this into a massive blizzard. I lost my grip on Olsis and he zipped out and followed the wind. My visibility is near nothing. The tree behind me started to wilt as my ki was running low. I assume my body has an automatic ki steal function whenever I run low.
If this keeps going on the entire forest will become a winter wonderland.
As soon as it looked like everything was going to be destroyed I blinked once, Only to wake up to Grammy and Olsis talking. I was at the temple of No’beck!

Find out in The Curio Shoppe! Author's note: Please suggest possible setting he could visit in the comments. I'll gather ones i'm familiar with, and at the end of every arc, a poll will be held to decide the next location he visits. There will be polls for other purposes, and I might not always go with the poll winner if I feel one of the other options is more fun to read/write about. I will not use the settings of other RRL writers without their permission.Do not ask for that, unless the author in question gives permission. Most settings he visits will be slightly AU in some way or another, but please remind me if I drift too far from canon unintentionally or characterize a character wrongly. This work will eventually fit all tags I selected once he visits universes suited to those tags, so don't ask when or where a given tag is coming. I do not own the cover art, it belongs to Nicholas Belanger Thiel, and I will stop using it if he asks me to. Kellan doesn't look like the old man on the cover, though once he acquires a disguise-type ability he may occasionally use that appearance. The tapir, however, will be a thing, as despite looking like a failed attempt at an elephant, tapirs are cool and this dragon finds them to be kinda cute.
